2024: Platform Launch

In Russia, the digital platform "Jupiter" was put into operation, designed to control the flights of unmanned aerial vehicles. This became known in August 2024. The system has been successfully tested in the Sakhalin region.

According to the Telegram channel "2035. NTI News, the Jupiter platform developed by Azimut, part of Rostec, was installed in the mission control center and served as the central information core of the Unmanned Aerial Systems Operation Organization System (ESR ALS).

Jupiter digital platform launched in Russia to control drone flights

The main tasks of Jupiter are to transmit information about the air situation and identify violators who carry out flights without appropriate approval. The introduction of ESR ALS will significantly reduce the cost of operating drones and increase the safety of their flights in various regions of the country.

An important task was the integration of Jupiter with all systems and platforms, as well as the presentation in them of information collected from all sensors and sources of various manufacturers, - said Viktor Solomentsev, Deputy General Director of Azimut JSC.

During the tests of the Jupiter platform, a scenario for automatic deconflicting was worked out, and the possibility of issuing commands on board a drone performing an autonomous flight was demonstrated through a dedicated radio link from the digital platform. In addition, an algorithm for dodging a drone from a collision was tested.

The Jupiter platform is integrated with the systems and equipment of various domestic manufacturers, including TsKBA, GLONASS JSC, Navigator JSC, Aerolink JSC, Aerosypt, GoodWAN, Obukhov Plant, St. Petersburg State Technical University named after Bonch-Bruyevich and Unmanned Systems JSC[1]

2022: Creation and testing of the Jupiter complex

The Azimut company (a subsidiary of Rostec) created and tested the Jupiter complex, designed to organize the movement of drones in an urban environment. This was reported to TAdviser on March 21, 2022 by Rostec. The tests were held on the basis of the Skolkovo Innovation Center in the experimental zone of urban air mobility, developed with the support of the Moscow Government. The technological solution will be in demand when transporting goods using drones and creating an air taxi system.

Rostec has created a system for organizing the movement of air taxi in urban conditions

The Jupiter automation system supports all the functionality necessary for planning drone flights, flight information support, registration, accounting, identification, authorization, geozoning, monitoring and monitoring of flights, interaction with EU ATM bodies, issues notifications in case of deviation from the route, dangerous approach to infrastructure facilities or other aircraft.

The solution is based on another development by Azimut - the Galactica air traffic control system. The platform is certified and used as part of dozens of aviation dispatch centers in Russia and abroad. In particular, the platform is used as a basic technological solution for managing the experimental area of use of unmanned aircraft systems "Dome" in the Tomsk region.

"The complex of solutions developed by us is the first step towards the integration of drones into a single airspace of Russia. The potential for its use is very wide: the platform will help use drones to deliver goods, monitor urban infrastructure, housing and communal services and organize air taxi services, "said Viktor Solomentsev, Deputy General Director of Azimut JSC.

According to him, Azimut intends to continue testing the system, refine it in accordance with the requests of potential customers and expand the functionality.

During the tests, the Jupiter automation system successfully worked out interaction with drones manufactured by AeroDronService. Surveillance of drones was carried out using a network mobile communication 5G organized by a partner Skolkovo Foundation NP GLONASS and. Skoltech

"The use of drones to solve urban problems is extremely relevant in the context of increasing needs for the delivery of goods, air taxi, monitoring. The solutions developed and tested as part of the creation of the urban airmobility environment will allow organizing the effective use of airspace by drones, promptly obtaining flight permits, air navigation and meteorological information, as well as observing and controlling drones through the 5G communication network, preventing drone collisions, "said Alexey Belyakov, vice president of the Skolkovo Foundation.
