2024: Investments in communications infrastructure in 2 years exceeded 6 billion rubles. Where the money went

In September 2024, it became known that over the past two years, investments in the development of communication infrastructure in the Stavropol Territory exceeded 6 billion rubles. These funds were used to build and upgrade mobile base stations, which significantly improved the quality of communication in the region. According to Vitaly Shevchenko, Deputy Minister of power, Industry and Communications of the Stavropol Territory, the bulk of investments were made in the period 2023-2024.

According to Interfax, during this period, more than 3 thousand communication stations of 2G, 3G and 4G standards were built on the territory of the region, of which more than 700 base stations were put into operation in 2024. Most of the new stations provided expanded coverage of the 2G and 4G standards, which made it possible to significantly increase data transfer rates in both large cities and rural areas. Also, according to Shevchenko, in 2024 a large-scale modernization of networks was launched with the transfer of them from the 3G standard to the more modern LTE standard. This measure will significantly improve the quality of services and expand access to high-speed Internet in various settlements of the region.

Investments in the communications infrastructure of Stavropol for 2 years amounted to more than 6 billion rubles

As part of the refarming program, which implies the replacement of radio technologies on dedicated radio frequencies, hundreds of mobile base stations are planned to be modernized by the end of 2024. As a result of these events, residents of the region will receive improved coverage and more stable communication, especially in hard-to-reach and sparsely populated areas.

The Ministry of Energy, Industry and Communications of the Stavropol Territory also plans to build and modernize more than 1.5 thousand base stations in 2025. This should expand the coverage area and increase the capacity of mobile networks, providing internet access to higher speeds for more users, including remote areas.[1]

2.6 million hp: Khaprovsky faunal complex - giraffes, elephants, camels and saber-toothed cats in the Stavropol Territory

Main article: Faunistic complexes of quaternary mammals

The Haprovsky faunal complex (2.6-2.2 Ma) was formed on the basis of collections of vertebrate remains from the North-East Azov region, the North-West Black Sea region, as well as Stavropol and the North Caucasus.

The reconstructed climate of this time is quite warm, with a well-defined hot dry season and a mild winter period. Elephants, rhinos, camels, antelopes, deer, hyenas, saber-toothed cats, mastodons, giraffes, bears and elk coexisted in the region. The faunal community resembles the association of modern African savannas in its appearance. However, from ancient and recurrent African associations, the fauna of southern Eastern Europe was significantly different at the ancestral and species levels. Read more here.
