History

2022: Raising $3 million in investments, including from Target Global

Nigerian fintech startup Indicina, which creates an API lending infrastructure for Africa, announced on June 6, 2022 that it would raise $3 million in funding to accelerate its expansion into other African markets.

The funding round was led by Target Global with participation from Greycroft and RV Ventures. Ricardo Schäfer, a partner at Target Global, will also join the board. Indicina will use the capital generated to expand into additional African markets as well as expand its key products, create new products for consumer lending advice and strengthen its infrastructure.

Digital credit platform raises $3 million investment from Target Global

Founded in 2018 by Yvonne Johnson, Jacob Ayokunle and Carlos del Carpio, Indicina is developing a digital credit analysis platform designed to build Africa's credit infrastructure. The company's solution allows you to create credit rules or models, conduct credit assessment and scoring, carry out end-to-end management of the loan portfolio and collect loan payments, which allows banks, insurers, consumer lending enterprises and other retailers to convert credit analysis into digital format.

Only 11% of its population has a credit history with private credit bureaus, compared with 16% in East Asia and 47% in Latin America, Johnson said. {{quote 'These huge prospects for consumer lending require technology and credit risk innovation that most lenders currently lack. Our products create a competitive digital offering backed by powerful data analytics and analytics capabilities to better engage customers and assess risk. Our corporate customers are moving to digital customer service at a faster rate, and our fintech customers are using our APIs to deliver their embedded financial offerings. This new investment round will keep our entire next phase running and we are excited to partner with an excellent group of investors. }} In 2022, Indicina became a leading provider of ML-based financial analytics and tripled its customer base in major segments - banks, non-bank lenders and technology startups.

{{quote 'We strongly believe that access to credit is a major aspect of financial inclusion and are pleased to support Indicina, which aims to ensure that eligibility is no longer determined by an incomplete credit assessment,' Schaefer said[1] }}
