2021: Less than 17.6 thousand babies were born, 33.8 thousand people died

At the end of 2021, mortality in the Omsk region doubled the birth rate - the trend that was observed in the previous year remained. The main state-legal department of the Omsk region reported that in 2021, the registry offices of the region registered 17,630 births and 33,825 deaths, with the largest number of deaths in November and October - the height of the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Most children were born in the Omsk region in October (1582), July (1576) and August (1573), the least - in May (1279), February (1341) and January (1378). The leader in the number of registered deaths was not January (2727), as was usually the case before the pandemic. Most deaths occurred in the third and fourth waves of the coronavirus pandemic: November (3658), October (3658), August (3258), December (3179) and July (3053).

Marriages and divorces

In 2021, 11,879 marriages and 8,410 divorces were registered. Also, the registry offices legalized 1288 facts of name changes and 2990 facts of paternity.

Transport

2024: The Northern Bypass highway will be built in Omsk for 63.25 billion rubles

In September 2024, the government of the Omsk region announced the construction of a new four-lane Northern Bypass highway, which will cost ₽63,25 billion. The highway will become an important part of the transport infrastructure of the region, linking the federal highways Omsk-Tyumen and Omsk-Novosibirsk. This is a major infrastructure project aimed at improving the transport network of the region and unloading the city highways of Omsk. Read more here.

2022: A megaproject on the creation of smart transport systems until 2027 has been approved in the Omsk region.

At a meeting of the government of the Omsk region in December 2022, a major project was agreed on the creation of intelligent transport systems in the Omsk region for 2023-2027. The costs of implementing the initiative are not reported. Read more here.
