A new large data center has been built in Moscow
The operator of commercial data centers, 3Data, has opened its first large data processing center "Medvedkovo" of the HyperScale project at ul. Chermyanskaya, 4s13, which can contain up to 4 thousand racks with a total capacity of up to 36 MW of load. The data center consists of 16 rooms located on 4 floors, each of which can accommodate up to 250 racks with a consumption of each of 6 kW. More
Construction of a data center for 180 racks in the north-west of Moscow
3data is building a data center with 180 racks in the north-west of Moscow. The press service of the company announced this on July 25, 2023.
By this day, as told in 3data, the installation work inside the data center is being completed, and the facade is being finished and the adjacent territory is being ennobled. The commissioning of the facility is scheduled for October 2023, it will become the 16th data center of the company. The power capacity of the site will be 1.2 MW.
It is important for us to quickly put into operation as many new data centers as possible, not only in order to meet the increased demand for data center services, but also in order for our customers to have a geographical choice of sites for hosting their IT infrastructure. Like the marketplace, all modern data center services and cloud services based on various platforms will be available to our customers, "said 3data CEO Ilya Hala. |
The data center will be located in the north-west of Moscow in the Mitino area near the Pyatnitsky highway, along which there are more business centers and offices of large companies. Direct connection to international and city backbone communication lines, access to all modern cloud services, as well as a protected area with its own parking make the site the optimal location for IT infrastructure for customers in the northwestern regions of Moscow and the region, 3data notes.
The company also stressed that reliability and safety will meet TIER 3 standards. As part of the project, coworking areas, parking spaces will also be built and a "free 24-hour move" service to the data center will be available. The volume of investments in this project by the end of July 2023 was not disclosed.
3data Data Center Commissioning Plan
The commissioning of 3data data centers in 2023 is going according to plan. This was announced on March 30, 2023 by representatives of the company.
Due to various external restrictions, the pace of construction and commissioning of additional sites could be significantly reduced, but 3data remains a stock of necessary technical components, and a developed partner ecosystem allows you to maintain and build new logistics supply chains for the necessary equipment. The implementation of new projects contributes to the satisfaction of consumer demand among our existing and new customers.
In February 2023, we increased the number of racks in our existing P6 data center to 196, and our Key Point 3data franchise partners launched an international data center in the Far East with a design capacity of 880 racks. In 2023, we will maintain the pace of construction of our data centers and put into operation several more sites. All this is aimed at quickly and qualitatively meeting the high demand for services of Russian data centers and cloud services, "said Ilya Hala, General Director of the 3data data center network. |
The nearest 3data projects will be implemented in the territories of the North-West and Southern administrative districts of Moscow. Data centers will traditionally have the status of "walking distance" and are conveniently located in business districts of the city near metro stations and highways.
2021: Plans to build data centres in residential buildings
In early March 2021, it became known about the plans of 3data to build small data centers on the territory of commercial and residential real estate. To do this, the company, according to its general director Ilya Hala, is negotiating with large developers, including Samolet, Pioneer, MIC Group, Etalon, Landmark, FGC Group, Coldy and PNK Group.
It is assumed that developers will allocate commercial areas in their projects for a data center, which the operator will buy upon completion of the construction of the facility. The capacity data centers can be about 100-200 server racks, transmits Kommersant"."
3data is confident that small data centers in residential buildings will be in demand among telecom operators who will be able to provide digital services to their customers. In addition, management companies can later pay their attention to the capabilities of such data centers.
Experts interviewed by the publication agree that such a direction has good prospects, given the approaching era of fifth-generation communication, which should bring with it even greater opportunities for the provision of digital services.
Providing the necessary level of fault tolerance for a small data center on a non-specialized site will be more difficult and expensive, said the director of cloud business strategy. MTS Anton Zakharchenko In his opinion, it will be more profitable for small companies to use the cloud of a large provider, and not the data center in the neighborhood, and such a data center is unlikely to provide the needs of a large client.
According to Pavel Kulakov, general director of the Oxygen data center network, the project costs may be unreasonably high, since it will require the involvement of expensive specialists, which now pays off only on large sites.[1]
2018: Partnership
In June 2018, the domestic modular manufacturer data centers GreenMDC and service operator DPC 3data signed a cooperation agreement. The partnership will allow not only to attract more attention to modular data centers, but also to bring to the market a new service - the placement and lease of the World Data Centre at specially prepared sites.
2017: Partnerships
Schneider Electric entered into a strategic cooperation agreement in April to build a network of monovendor data centers with the Russian company 3data. Under the contract, Schneider Electric will provide the customer with the full range of infrastructure equipment for equipping small data centers, ensuring cost reduction and acceleration of construction of new facilities.
In March, Legrand and the Russian network of 3data data centers signed an official agreement on joint work on a large-scale project. By the end of 2017, it is planned to open the first technological center in Russia, which will house a monovendor commercial data processing center on Legrand equipment, a Legrand training center and office and administrative premises. The technology center will present a range of engineering solutions. Telecom solutions are provided by the telecom operator Mastertel. Partners and customers can learn about Legrand's integrated solutions for data centers, industry and banking, and gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills by participating in specialized conferences, seminars, lectures, and other industry-specific events. The presence of a monovendor data center, a training complex and administrative premises under one roof is designed to simplify the process of formalizing relationships between industry partners, customers and suppliers of products and solutions for data centers.
