History

2020: Juniper Networks purchased Apstra

On December 7, 2020 Juniper Networks announced Apstra acquisition, but began to set the price of the transaction. It is going to execute all formalities of this agreement in the first quarter 2021. When it occurs, the founder of Apstra David Cheriton will join Juniper as the chief researcher in the field of technologies for data processing centers.

Thanks to Apstra purchase the Juniper Networks company will expand possibilities of automation in to the operating system Junos, used in network equipment for data centers. Besides, the transaction will strengthen Juniper Networks positions in fight with Cisco in the market of "networks on the basis of intentions".

Juniper noted that the Apstra platform allows users "describe how the DPC in terms of results should behave, and a system implements and constantly provides compliance to requirements of network transactions and opportunities". It provides pro-active analytical information and automatic identification and elimination of the reasons of malfunctions in network infrastructure, is told in the press release.

By December, 2020 the Juniper switches used in data centers are already integrated with Apstra technologies for no-touch deployment of services, safe implementation of changes and simplification of transactions in the automated data processing center.[1]
