Plexxi — the American software maker founded in 2010 which optimizes networks and increases performance of applications. The company offers software-defined so-called "factory" which integrates switches. The technology is designed to reduce in data centers the number of switches in comparison by traditional architecture. By May 16, 2018 in Plexxi about 100 people work.
2018: HPE purchased Plexxi
In the middle of May, 2018 Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) announced Plexxi purchase, but did not set acquisition value. In 2016 investors estimated Plexxi at $267 million according to the results of a financing round.
It is going to close the transaction in the third financial quarter which for HPE will come to the end on July 31 the 2018th calendar. After that developments of Plexxi will be integrated with software-defined storages and computing resources of HPE under a brand of SimpliVity company which HPE absorbed in 2017 for $650 million.
It is expected that Plexxi technologies will add a portfolio of the infrastructure solutions HPE Synergy that should expand options of use of products in data processing centers. By May, 2018 HPE Synergy use more than 1400 clients.
Thanks to this acquisition we will deliver hyper convergent and composition solutions with new generation of network factories which can automatically create or recustomize data transmission channels under certain workloads — the senior vice president and the head of division of HPE Software-defined and Cloud Group Rick Lewis comments on Plexxi purchase. — It will increase flexibility and efficiency and also will allow the companies to unroll quicker applications and to receive business benefit from the data. |
Lewis also added that the transaction will help to create the only thing in the market the hyper convergent solution which includes possibilities of calculations, data storage and network factories.[1]
