History

2024: Product development by UltimaTek to Expanta

UltimaTek Group of Companies has separated the product development business into a separate company - Expanta. Representatives of UltimaTech reported this to TAdviser on December 11, 2024. According to them, the creation of the company is a critical step to support import substitution and increase the digital maturity of Russian industrial enterprises. The Expant was headed by Alexander Smolensky, an expert on the creation and development of MES systems and the industrial Internet of Things for the oil and gas and petrochemical industries.

UltimaTek has separated product development into a separate business

The assets of Datana and Databriz, which previously joined UltimaTek, are transferred to the Expants structure in accordance with the strategy of separating product development areas and integrating the entire group of companies. Expanta solutions will be developed according to certain standards for the consolidated requirements of large holding structures, with the prerequisite for seamless integration with products of other manufacturers. Development teams will maintain the operational independence of the companies that make up the association.

"After a number of research conducted by us on the industrial software market, we came to the conclusion that, first of all, we need to strengthen consolidation between the developers of domestic software. Based on this, we reoriented the portfolio of services, and now the Center for Product Solutions will be located inside Expanta, and the expertise on implementation and comprehensive consulting will remain with the integrator UltimaTek, "explained Pavel Rastopshin, General Director of the Group of Companies.

[1] the[2]November 2024, the level of digital maturity of large and medium-sized industrial enterprises in Russia reached 26.6% (against 16% a year earlier). However, key challenges remain - businesses need tools to optimize equipment, improve performance, and integrate data across departments.

Expanta will focus on creating domestic solutions that can connect technological business processes and production. At the start, the product portfolio includes Decision Support System (DSS AI), Advanced Process Control (APC), Computerized maintenance management system, (CMMS), but not limited to them in strategy.

Expanta unites IT companies that will jointly develop domestic industrial software for an end-to-end "bundle" of technological and business processes at large enterprises. These are software products for implementing correlations, with complex algorithms and mathematical models, using machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies. As part of Expanta, such companies will be able to increase their penetration into the market, expand the functionality of their solution to meet the requirements of real customers and reduce the cost and time of development through cooperation with the same companies ready to share their developments, UltimaTek noted.

"There has been a phase where companies are moving away from heavy monolithic platforms and pointwise replacing solutions in their IT landscape. This is due to the import substitution process, which is carried out in stages at all enterprises. As a result, a composite architecture is formed, where each system is precisely tuned to the business user. This IT architecture is more flexible, functional, and time-sensitive. To build it as soon as possible, we set ourselves the task of developing and bringing to the market in 2025 a new layer of industrial software that will cover the need of industry customers for the necessary components, "said Alexander Smolensky, General Director of Expanta.

According to him, the company is already introducing APC and CMMS class solutions at enterprises, and then the portfolio of digital products is planned to be significantly expanded due to developments created by the Expants teams.

"The strategy of the new company is to consolidate the efforts that are now underway in the market in the direction of developing specialized industrial software, but rather fragmented. It is this isolation that hinders the development of Russian products. Expanta gathers already working teams, in which we believe, we will invest, and which we will help to grow and develop our decisions, "added Pavel Rastopshin, General Director of Ultimatek Group of Companies.

He also clarified that Expanta's market valuation is at least 500 million rubles (as of December 2024), and the expected volume of external investments is 1 billion rubles.

In 2025, Expanta plans to attract 5-6 more participants to the technological alliance, each of which will close the task of developing certain segments of software for managing production and technological processes.
