2025: Russian schoolchildren win overall in robotics competition in Taiwan

A team of schoolchildren from Russia took the entire podium at the International RoboSport Competition 2025, which took place in Taiwan on May 24-25, 2025. Participants from the P. L. Kapitsa Fiztech Lyceum in the Moscow Region won gold, silver and bronze medals among 300 teams from different countries.

According to the portal of the government of the Moscow region, more than 800 people took part in the competition. The tournament was organized under the auspices of FIRA (Federation of International Robosports Association) on the basis of the Kaohsiung National University of Science and Technology, one of the leading technical universities in Asia.

Russian schoolchildren took first place in the overall standings at robotics competitions held in Taiwan

Vice-Governor of the Moscow Region Lyudmila Bolataeva noted that the result was a stunning achievement not only for the Moscow Region, but also for the whole of Russia. Schoolchildren brilliantly showed themselves in one of the most technologically complex disciplines of our time.

Participants competed in two main disciplines. As part of the HuroCup, teams demonstrated the capabilities of humanoid robots capable of running, lifting and moving objects, climbing stairs and performing other tasks that simulate real physical activity.

In the AndroSot discipline - autonomous robot football - computer vision, team coordination and strategic management were key. Robots had to independently navigate the field and interact with each other without the participation of operators.

Gold medals were won by Ilya Borisov and Nikita Komkov. Maxim Kosarev and Eric Mustakimov became silver medalists. The bronze award was received by Andrei Firstov. All winners represented the P.L. Kapitsa Fiztech Lyceum.

FIRA competitions are aimed at comprehensive verification of the functionality of robotic systems. One mechanism must cope with the tasks of different categories, receiving a summary assessment based on the results of all tests. The main goal of the tournament is to create a universal robot that can adapt to any conditions.[1]
