Klue

The Californian startup of Klue founded in 2015 developed a sensing technology of gestures which defines the movements connected with meal and estimates different indicators of consumption. The startup purpose — to learn as much as possible about eating habits of the person to optimize the system of delivery of insulin.

History

2019: Medtronic purchased Klue

In the middle of December, 2019 Medtronic announced purchase of a startup of Klue. The cost of the transaction of the company did not begin to be disclosed.

Medtronic is going to implement this technology in the new personalized system for treatment of diabetes. The president of Medtronic Diabetes on promotion of automated systems of introduction of insulin Alejandro Galindo said that use of Klue technology in tools of Medtronic "will help to create really automated system with the closed circuit which will not require input of any data". According to data of Medtronic, this technology can be also used for care of patients who receive several injections of insulin in day.

According to the press secretary of Medtronic Pamela Reese, the new automated system of insulin therapy did not enter a stage of control tests yet. Most likely, for a start will go on sale 780G which Medtronic calls the advanced hybrid closed system.

Acquisition of a startup of Klue — the second serious investment of Medtronic Diabetes into technologies of a power supply in a year. At the end of 2018 Medtronic decided to purchase Nutrino Health company for data analysis about a power supply to develop prediction algorithms of glycemic reactions to food.

The founder and the CEO of Klue Katelijn Vleugels and also other employees of a startup will join Medtronic.^[1]
