Performance indicators

2022: Revenue growth by 88.7% to RUB 740 mln

The Merlion group of companies on March 21, 2022 shared the results of the financial year of the fulfillment operator Tempoline. The group of companies in December 2021 acquired a 51% share of the provider and gained access to various projects of the company.

For 2021, Tempoline's net revenue amounted to 740 million rubles, in 2020 - 392 million rubles. Year-on-year growth was 88.7%. High indicators are associated with many factors, for example, with the expansion of the warehouse area by almost three times, as well as with the launch of a project for foreign customers, which made it possible to sell goods on the Russian market through Tempoline services under a commission agreement without organizing a legal entity.

The cloud service for online stores "Cactus" also showed an increase in relation to 2020. Customer shipments to marketplaces through this system have grown 12 times.

The company plans to launch financial services and a mobile application in 2022 . Tempoline is also considering starting a franchise project for the regions.

For 2022, we are setting ambitious plans for both ideological development and IT support for our customers. Our knowledge of the e-commerce market and the capacity of the Merlion group of companies has borne fruit in 2021. In the near future, we are not going to move away from plans and will begin strengthened work on the ecosystem of our project, while we are closely monitoring the current market situation and, if necessary, will adjust our strategy, - commented on the results of the year Natalia Subbotina, CEO and founder of Tempoline.

History

2022: Merlion bought 51% of Tempoline

On January 20, 2022, it became known about the sale of 51% of Tempoline to the IT distributor Merlion. The company did not disclose the value of the transaction. According to the estimates of the managing director of Skolkovo Ventures Stanislav Kolesnichenko, we can talk about the amount of 600-800 million rubles.

As Merlion and Tempoline told Kommersant, the first company will increase the number of services for its partners thanks to the deal, and Tempoline, in turn, will be able to expand its client base. The Merlion investment is probably aimed at developing direct sales of equipment under its own brand, said the executive director of ReWorker Aleksei Zhukov. According to B2basket CEO Pavel Ivanov, the deal may be of interest to Merlion, including for updating its own fulfillment service.

Merlion acquired 51% of Tempoline

Analysts Data Insight estimate the volume of the Russian fulfillment market for e-commerce 2021 at 41.8 billion rubles. In total, 186 million parcels were sent through fulfillment operators in 2021, which is 70% more than in 2020.

According to Aleksei Zhukov, by January 2022, there is a boom in startups in Russia that help manufacturers and entrepreneurs promote their goods on marketplaces, but many companies entering the market do not have enough experience, so there are not many projects in the Russian Federation with sufficient expertise, as in the case of Tempoline.[1]
