Resignation from the post of CEO of Rusagro

On November 15, 2021, Rusagro announced the resignation of Maxim Basov from the post of general director of the group. At the same time, he will remain a shareholder and member of the board of directors of the agricultural holding.

According to the press service of Rusagro, the labor contract of Maxim Basov expires on December 31, 2021, it is not planned to renew the contract. The group will be determined with the new general director by the end of 2021.

Maxim Basov has been the head of the company since 2009. The entrepreneur owns an 8% stake in Rusagro.

According to Kommersant, Basov can do his own projects. Analysts interviewed by the publication believe that it will be extremely difficult to find a replacement for Mr., for whom almost all processes were closed in Rusagro.

According to one of the sources of the publication, a top manager after leaving the company can deal with his own projects. Recently, before his departure from Rusagro, he invested in scientific companies, food delivery services and online platforms. So, he owns a share in the service for the delivery of food sets for cooking Elementaree and the online platform for the development of cognitive functions "Wikium." In addition, Basov owns almost 70% of the antibody developer for Primbiomed research.

Marat Ibragimov, senior analyst at Gazprombank, noted that Rusagro's current results are largely a personal merit of Basov. Almost all the processes in the group were closed to German. The top manager was engaged in, among other things, strategy, operational management of all business segments, communication with investors.

Ibragimov is confident that investors will respond negatively to the news of the departure of the top manager. In his opinion, the group's shares will be adjusted in the short term.

According to the director of Sovecon Andrei Sizov, the process of changing the general director of Rusagro, apparently, will require a transitional period, given the scale of the business, including in the geographical dimension: the group manages huge fields, enterprises in many regions and has a large division in the Far East.^[1]

He graduated from New York University (USA) with a degree in Economics and Finance, International Business, Philosophy. He held senior positions in the companies of Severstal OJSC, Kuzbassugol OJSC, Severstal Resource OJSC, Interpipe NPIG.
