Biography

Sergei Nikolaevich Anokhin was born in Moscow in 1979. He graduated from the Russian University of Economics named after G.V. Plekhanov with a degree in finance and credit.

2000

Sergey Anokhin began his career in 2000 in the high-tech sector at SAS Russia, having gone from consultant and project manager for the implementation of planning and financial reporting systems to head of the financial sector.

2007-2016

In 2007, he moved to the banking sector as vice president, head of management at the retail VTB24, and since 2011 - vice president, deputy CFO.

In 2014, as part of the formation of a dedicated business line, VTB Group for working with medium-sized businesses moved to the parent VTB Bank, where it headed the financial block of the new business line as the financial director of medium-sized businesses - senior vice president. During the period when the Bank of Moscow joined VTB Bank in 2015-2016, he additionally headed the planning and economic department of the Bank of Moscow, responsible for the functionality of the division and tasks for integrating processes, systems and personnel. Both in VTB24 and at VTB, Sergey Anokhin directly participated in the tasks of forming and implementing the strategy of organizations.

2017: Appointment as Vice President of Rostelecom

On April 5, 2017, the national telecom operator Rostelecom announced the appointment of Sergei Anokhin to the post of senior vice president of the company. As part of this role, he will be responsible for strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, as well as investor engagement.

In addition, Sergey Anokhin will be required to coordinate measures to implement the strategy, innovative development programs, implementation of projects to improve operational efficiency, as well as projects to transform the company.

2018: Appointment as Chief Financial Officer of Rostelecom

March 16, 2018 Sergey Anokhin was appointed to the post of senior vice president - financial director of Rostelecom. In this post, he is responsible for financial management, economics, investments and reporting, as well as managing procurement and implementation of projects to improve the operating efficiency of the company. Also in its jurisdiction will remain the issues of strategic planning and monitoring of the implementation of the strategy.

Kai-Uwe Melhorn, who has served as chief financial officer since 2013, will leave the company and focus on his own projects.

2024

Leaving the post of financial director of Rostelecom

Appointment as CEO of VimpelCom

On July 12, 2024, VimpelCom announced the appointment of Sergei Anokhin as the new CEO of the company. In this post, he will replace Alexander Torbakhov, who will head the board of directors of the telecom operator.

VimpelCom notes that during the leadership of Mr. Torbakhov, the company "stopped losing real customers and shows the best financial results in 15 years, generating a record cash flow and maintaining a comfortable debt burden." And Sergey Anokhin, commenting on his appointment to the post of head of VimpelCom, said the following:

Before becoming the general director of VimpelCom, Anokhin worked at Rostelecom, where he was responsible for the formation of a development strategy, the financial block, the development of new business areas, venture capital investments, the transformation of processes on the principles of lean production, launched a target program and promoted the development of the company's customer focus.

FG Finam analyst Leonid Delitsyn believes that the appointment of Sergei Anokhin as CEO of VimpelCom PJSC with the transfer of Alexander Torbakhov to the chair of the board of directors may mean VimpelCom preparing for sale.^[2]
