2020: The manager of data in Windows 10 2004 "forgets" users

Because of a bug in the Manager accounting data Chrome Edge, Windows-applications also VPN cannot authenticate users. It became known on August 12, 2020.

According to some users, after each perezagrzka of the computer they automatically log out of the accounts in the browser and applications. In other words, the Manager of credentials began "forget" passwords, and after reset of the computer the applications relying on it cannot "remember" the user.

Judging by comments of users of Windows 10 2004 at different forums, they had following problems:

• Expansions Outlook, Acrobat and Lastpass constantly require to enter credentials;
• Google OneDrive And also constantly credentials require to enter Microsoft Edge, Chrome;
• The Parameters application periodically requests repeated authorization;
• Windows cannot "remember" the user;
• Problems with VPN: the Windows Security dialog box with warning that the password or a user name for installation of VPN connection are incorrect appears.

The users who faced a problem can make the following:

• Open Search of Windows;
• Enter "Information on an account";
• Click on "Become authorized in a local account";
• Reboot Windows;
• Return to the "Information on an Account" setup and to again connect an account of Microsoft.

It is also possible to do the following:

• Open Search of Windows;
• Enter Command line and start with the privileges of the administrator;
• ^[1] to enter the sfc/scannowDism/Online/Cleanup-Image/RestoreHealth command and click Input^[2].

Windows 10 May 2019 Update requires updating of drivers of Qualcomm and Intel of RST

On August 5, 2019 it became known that the Microsoft company fixed three bugs in Windows 10 of May 2019 Update (version 1903), having released updated software and drivers. Nevertheless, blocking of installation of the new version of OS is still not removed, so, before updating to Windows 10 May 2019 Update users at first should set new drivers.

The first of three bugs causes periodic failures in connection to Wi-Fi. According to Microsoft, the problem appeared after installation of cumulative updating KB4505057 and is connected with outdated drivers of Qualcomm. The latests version of drivers should be provided to users by producers of devices. Until they are not set, upgradeability to Windows 10 May 2019 Update will be blocked.

The second problem is connected with impossibility in certain cases to set color profiles and to configure night-time lighting. For its solution Microsoft recommends to switch on and off night-time lighting or to reboot. The patch which is finally eliminating this bug will be released shortly.

The third problem appeared after an exit of May updating KB4497935 and is connected with certain versions of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers (Intel of RST). Microsoft recommends to set the version of drivers 15.5.2.1054 or more late. For the devices affected by a problem the recommended version is 15.9.6.1044. Until drivers are not updated, it will be impossible to install Windows 10 May 2019 Update^[3].

The black screen at RDP connection

On July 16, 2019 it became known of warning of Microsoft of an error in Windows 10 of version 1903 because of which at remote connection to the device with outdated graphic drivers the black screen is displayed.

At initiation of connection on RDP to devices with outdated graphic drivers the black screen can be displayed. The problem can be shown on systems with any version of Windows at remote connection to the device based on Windows 10 (1903) with the mentioned driver of the display, including drivers for the integrated processors of a series of Intel 4", said in technical documentation of Microsoft.

The error was provided in accumulative updating KB4497935 of May 29, 2019 (assembly 18362.145).

Those who faced an error are recommended to update graphic drivers or to wait for the following updating.

Earlier Microsoft ^[4] began to send to users of Windows 10 notices on the fast termination of support of the operating system and need of updating to later releases^[5].

Difficulties with access to "The center of updating Windows"

On February 5, 2019 it became known that users of Windows 10 continue to experience difficulties with access to "The center of updating Windows" in spite of the fact that Microsoft presumably corrected a problem.

In Network complaints from users of Windows 10 to impossibility to be connected to "The center of updating Windows" began to appear. At connection attempt the error message appeared: "It was not succeeded to be connected to service of updating. We will try again later, or you can try right now. If still it does not turn out, check the connection to the Internet".

As it appeared, change DNS- service (for example, on Google Cloudflare 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1) solved a problem. From this it is possible to conclude that malfunctions were connected with DNS services Internet providers. However the problem concerned providers worldwide, including in USA, Great Britain Japan and so forth therefore it would be more logical to assume that Microsoft just released the problem record DNS which was too long cached by DNS servers.

According to a source from among the staff of Microsoft, the problem was on the party of the company, and is already corrected. However users still experience difficulties with access to "The center of updating Windows".

According to one of clients of the British Internet service provider BT if to switch to DNS 1.1.1.1 on some devices, then everything works well if it is connected to Wi-Fi. It is not known why use 1.1.1.1 through Ethernet does not work. What is stranger, the old website Windows Update for OS of an era still works with Windows XP. The problem affects only those who use versions, beginning from Windows Vista.

Microsoft knows of a problem, and for February, 2019 the company tries to solve it. So far the only way to bypass malfunctions – to replace DNS service. It is unclear, why, but even after change of DNS service it is possible to set updates only through Wi-Fi, but not through hardwired connection. In certain cases change of DNS does not solve a problem at all.^[6]

After updating of Windows 10 activation flies. Microsoft was filled up with complaints

At the beginning of November, 2018 numerous complaints of users of Windows 10 that after updating of the operating system activation flies began to appear. And it is not about piracy versions, and about license.

Several participants of the Reddit portal complained of "deactivation of Windows" after they transferred computers from the version of Pro on Home. One of users also wrote that several years he worked in license Windows 8 Pro, then free of charge passed to Windows 10 Home, but the activation key did not approach.

The official answer from Microsoft did not keep itself waiting. The company confirmed a problem with the server of activation and promised to eliminate it to currents of one-two working days.

Microsoft knows about the appeared problems with activation of Windows Pro. It occurs in Japan, Korea, the USA and other countries worldwide. Unfortunately, time malfunctions on servers of activation of Microsoft because of what some users can have a message about failure of activation of the operating system are now observed — said in the company.

According to the ComputerWorld edition with reference to the website Günter Born, Windows really it ceased to be activated after updating. The built-in means of troubleshooting with activation detects the digital license for Windows 10 Pro and reports that updating of edition is required. However in attempt to be updated process at once stops, and activation does not take place. The process of slui.exe which is responsible for activation gives error message hr=0xC004C003.

At the beginning of November, 2018 numerous complaints of users of Windows 10 that after updating of the operating system activation flies began to appear

Meanwhile, it became known that updating of Windows 10 at number KB4462933 bears problems in work browser Microsoft Edge.  In particular, users cannot use the tools of the developer which are available in the application. To fix a problem, in Microsoft  recommend to become authorized temporarily in a system as the administrator and to delete one of two files in the SystemApps folder (depends on digit capacity of a system).^[7]

Update ceased to be distributed after complaints to the gone files

On October 6, 2018 Microsoft stopped distribution of updating for Windows 10 after numerous complaints to sudden removal of files.

Several days later after a release of Windows 10 of October 2018 Update at a forum of technical support of Microsoft and on social networks messages that on computers of the users who set updating files, in particular from the My Documents folder began to vanish began to appear.

It turned out that the operating system  just erases data without the permission of users. Presumably, the problem is connected with incorrect work of synchronization with OneDrive storage. At the same time it is possible to recover some dead files nevertheless — they are in the/windows.old folder on a system disk.

It is not the only problem. Owners of notebooks noticed that after updating installation battery life considerably decreases, and then at all there is a message about incompatibility of the driver which interrupts updating process. This failure is connected with the fact that some Intel processors (with iGPU Gen 9.5, chips of the 6th generation Skylake and are newer) integrate the controller into the operating system of audio.^[8]

Microsoft announced suspension of distribution of updating for conducting investigation of the incident. Besides, the company recommended to affected users to contact it (in Russia it can be done by number 8-800-200-80-01), and that who downloaded updating manually — to refuse installation.
