History

2021: Thoma Bravo bought Calypso for $3.7 billion

At the end of March 2021, the investment company Thoma Bravo announced an agreement to acquire the financial software manufacturer Calypso Technology from the international alternative investment fund management group Bridgepoint for $3.7 billion. The transaction, which requires regulatory approval, is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2021.

Didier Bouillard, Chief Executive Officer of Calypso Technology, noted that Thoma Bravo has proven experience in supporting its portfolio companies by investing in growth initiatives as well as strategic acquisitions to ensure long-term value. So, the company is pleased to continue providing innovative solutions for financial markets, while accelerating business development.

As part of this deal, Kirkland & Ellis acts as legal advisor to Thoma Bravo. Evercore and Jefferies act as financial advisers, and Latham & Watkins acts as legal counsel to Calypso and Bridgepoint.[1][2]
