2019: Announcement

In the middle of September, 2019 Mercedes-Benz entered the market of electroscooters what announced at an autoexhibition in Frankfurt.

Electroscooters of production Mercedes-Benz are still decided to be used only on the German roads. Flexible motor scooters with an electric actuator - an ideal method quickly to overcome short distances without damage to the environment, the producer notes.

The new electronic E-Scooter scooter from the Mercedes-Benz EQ family was developed in cooperation with the Swiss producer of scooters and the Mobility Systems electroscooters which is known for the miniature machines for the urban environment. How many will cost the new vehicle, by September, 2019 it is unknown.

The company did not even publish inventory data of the course, maximum speed or any other characteristics of the electroscooter. Also it is still not clear whether the electroscooter will be able to bring Mercedes-Benz to other markets, in addition to Germany.

The representative of Daimler concern confirmed that the car maker intends to sell scooters directly to consumers, but did not begin to answer additional questions. Even there is no photo of the complete electroscooter on boards still. Most likely, it will be very compact and light scooter weighing about 5 kilograms. Such unit can move the person up to 100 kilograms. Speed of electro-scooters, as a rule, is about 40 kilometers per hour — pretty well for city conditions.

In the last several years the popularity of electric scooters is stimulated with the ambitious technology companies. A number of the cities also welcomes use of electroscooters - or as the help for undeveloped infrastructure of public transport, or as a potential alternative to cars.^[1]
