Certification of Deep Security 11.0 in Belarus

The Trend Micro company announced on November 7, 2018 passing of certification in Republic of Belarus of five products of the company, including Trend Micro Deep Security 11.0 at once. Read more here.

Deep Security Smart Check

On June 19, 2018 the Trend Micro corporation announced release of the Deep Security Smart Check component for own solution Deep Security. In addition to protection of containers in a working environment which is performed by Deep Security Deep Security Smart Check provides continuous scanning of their images.

According to the statement of the developer, Deep Security Smart Check checks images of containers even before their deployment to reveal the malware and vulnerabilities it is more effective. Thus possible problems with security can be detected and eliminated at a stage of its development.

In addition, Trend Micro provided the extensive API set and the center of automation which will help to improve integration of security aids into development process. Owners of Trend Micro Deep Security will be able to use an API product to provide continuous deployment of software, control of its status, management of IT services and integration of management tools, such as recently released Amazon Elastic Container Service for Kubernetes complex, noted in the company.

Availability to clients of VMware Cloud

On September 6, 2017 the Trend Micro Incorporated company announced availability of the solution for protection of the Trend Micro Deep Security servers to clients of VMware Cloud on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

VMware Cloud on AWS integrates a software-defined data processing center (SDDC) of a corporate class, specialized, elastic and physical (bare metal) infrastructure of AWS. Such approach is aimed at support of a steady operational model of the companies and mobility of applications for private and public clouds. Use of the solution Trend Micro Deep Secuity provides unobstructed sight and protection of the virtualized resources in software-defined DPCs, both in local environments, and in VMware Cloud environment on AWS.

Trend Micro Deep Security 10

On February 8, 2017 the Trend Micro Incorporated company announced the release of Deep Security 10 technology equipped with XGen Security mechanisms.

Deep Security combines technologies of protection of different generations for security of servers from the known threats, including protection against malware and also an intrusion prevention system (IPS) for detection and a stop of the serious attacks. Within strategy implementation of XGen Security several innovation systems of protection, including prevention of unauthorized change of the software and control of applications are added to Deep Security 10. Developed for hybrid cloud environments, function of control of applications will help to protect servers from the sophisticated attacks of programs racketeers, even in conditions when the structure of the used applications is regularly updated, and flexible computing resources are distributed between virtual and cloud environments.

Deep Security 10 supports integration by the system of sandboxes Trend Micro Deep Discovery and also machine learning soon will be added to constantly growing list of advanced technologies of protection also.

The product is optimized for installation in an environment of VMware, AWS, Microsoft Azure and provides end-to-end controllability, automatically detecting new nodes and providing them with protection. 2016: Trend Micro Deep Security as a Service is available in Amazon Web Services

Trend Micro announced in November availability of Deep Security as a Service in app store of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace. As told CNews in the company, the offer of Trend Micro based on long-term history of innovations allows the organizations to combine advantages of use of the solution for security according to the SaaS model with convenience of inclusion of payment for it in the uniform account for services of Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Deep Security as a Service, the solution for security management which is completely placed in a cloud is connected through Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) and has hourly model of payment. Deep Security as a Service has the certificate of conformity to the first level of the standard of security of PCI and combines additional protection for AWS Cloud with a possibility of fast installation and deployment. The subscription to service and settings of resource protection requires only several seconds.

2015: Trend Micro Deep Security is certified by VCE Validation Ready

On June 30, 2015 the Trend Micro company announced obtaining the certificate of VCE Validation Ready for the Trend Micro Deep Security platform within the VCE Technology Alliance Partner program.

2014

Trend Micro Deep Security 9.5

On November 5, 2014 the Trend Micro company presented the updated solution Trend Micro Deep Security 9.5 for the environment of VMware compatible to the platform of network virtualization VMware NSX and providing protection in a physical, virtual and cloud environment.

Trend Micro Deep Security 9.5 provides security aids as at the level of files, and network, and does not require use of agents on the protected virtual nodes.

The Trend Micro Deep Security platform in AWS Marketplace

In November, 2014 Trend Micro Incorporated announced that the platform became available to protection of cloud resources and data processing centers of Trend Micro Deep Security for Amazon Web Services (AWS) on AWS Marketplace, online store which offers the software and services for use on AWS.

Deep Security provides the automated cloud protection in AWS. It includes tools for an intrusion prevention (IPS), fight against malware on the basis of web reputation, monitoring of integrity and also event logs and the network screen in one multifunction solution. Now the Deep Security platform expanded in order that it could be provided through AWS Marketplace, and integrated with the leading management tools, such as Chef, Puppet, SaltStack, AWS CloudFormation or AWS OpsWorks automates providing functionality of information security for fast resource protection from the newest vulnerabilities taking into account workloads.

Trend Micro Deep Security 8.0 is certified according to new regulating documents of FSTEC

The certificate of conformity of FSTEC No. 2861 of May 20, 2013 certifies that the solution Deep Security 8.0 is the software tool of data protection implementing functions of an intrusion detection system, means of antivirus protection and the firewall. The product is recognized to relevant requirements of documents: "Requirements to intrusion detection systems" (FSTEC of Russia, 2011) – on the 4th class of protection, "The requirement to means of antivirus protection" (FSTEC of Russia, 2012) – on the 4th class of protection and also conforms to requirements of the regulating document "Computer aids. Firewalls. Protection against unauthorized access to information. Security indicators from unauthorized access to information" (State Technical Commission of Russia, 1997) – on the 4th class of security.

2011

Trend Micro Deep Security 7.5

In September the version of the product Trend Micro Deep Security 7.5 is announced. The structure of a packet for the first time switches on the new module which provides close interaction of Trend Micro Deep Security with technologies of virtualization from VMware company and helps to organize more effective protection of virtual environments against the malicious software.

Close integration with the program interfaces VMware vShield Endpoint API and software of VMware vShield Manager provides a possibility of fast deployment of a product per host systems of VMware vSphere and allows the virtual devices Deep Security to guarantee complete security of virtual machines of VMware.

The new component also has close compatibility with protective infrastructure of Trend Micro Smart Protection Network which is the cornerstone of the majority of the solutions Trend Micro. The compatibility with the Trend Micro SecureCloud platform allows to use Trend Micro Deep Security 7.5 for protection of the infrastructures unrolled in a public or private cloud.

Testing Jet Infosystems

Specialists of Jet Infosystems company completed testing of the solution Trend Micro Deep Security 7.5 intended for information system protection of the corporate level in April, 2011. The carried-out bench tests confirmed that the product is complex means of protecting from the specific threats characteristic of virtual environments. Testing was held at the stand of Jet Infosystems company under control of VMware vSphere 4 (ESX) including:

  • the server of management Deep Security Manager (it was developed both in virtual environment, and on the selected physical server);
  • the preconfigured Deep Security virtual machine (Virtual Appliance);
  • software agent for installation on the protected OS (testing was held on the Windows, RHEL and Solaris operating systems).

Within testing special attention was paid to check of functionality of the product developed taking into account features of virtual environments. Trend Micro Deep Security 7.5 is integrated with VMsafe API and provides protection of virtual machines of VMware against a malicious code without the need for installation of agents. The technology allowing to transfer loading which is created by work of an antivirus and means of an intrusion prevention on each virtual machine separately, on the selected Deep Security virtual machine (Virtual Appliance) was checked. Besides, in Virtual Appliance are tested not only protection against malware for all ESX host, but also function of the firewall, detection and prevention of network attacks.

Testing of the client software which can be established in a virtual and physical medium and does not use special functions of a hypervisor is also held:

  • the firewall with tracking of a status of connections;
  • mechanisms of detection and intrusion prevention,
  • protection against malware,
  • control of integrity and management of event logs.

During tests the solution based on Deep Security was integrated with the systems of the class SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), in particular with ArcSight ESM. Specialists of Jet Infosystems company confirmed that thanks to support of the CEF standard integration of a product with ArcSight ESM does not require the special connector and provides easy connection of the solution to this system.

Experts especially noted availability of the unified clear interface for implementation and solution management both in virtual environment, and in physical. The management system of Deep Security Manager considers rules of the firewall, a signature for protection of web applications, signatures of network attacks, functions of control of integrity.

Testing for scalability in a cloud environment

Trend Micro aimed to execute the test of scalability of one of own products (Trend Micro Deep Security). Fast superficial calculation showed that accomplishment of this task would require 35 Dell 710 servers with a possibility of virtualization. Find so many available servers – a difficult task for any company, and purchasing so many servers for the sake of monthly testing, there could not be also a speech.

Therefore it was decided to ask for the help oblaa. Infrastructure of Amazon Web Services (AWS) using which it was succeeded to receive necessary quantity of less large resources became the suitable solution. (In this case small copies were ideal for modeling of large architecture "manager-agent", and each copy modelled a great number of agents.

It must be kept in mind that just it will not be possible to open an account and to make a request for 1000 small copies. The staff of Amazon contacts the client by e-mail to define a required ratio of types of copies, platforms, zones of availability and regions which will be profitable to both your project, and AWS. Right after determination of a configuration we developed necessary instruments of fast increase or reduction of scale of our test environment. AMI (templates) and tools using the application programming interfaces for detection and monitoring of resources treated them.

Trend Micro did not pass strangeness of the AWS platform, such as distortion of the time diagram at active use of the CPU resources, incorrect information on the CPU resources for small copies in CloudWatch and inevitable "wars of the prices" for point copies. Because of the special nature of tests not everything went according to the plan. Occasionally at increase in scale there were error messages from the application programming interface of AWS with a formulation "not enough resources". Useful will have spare options on a case when the necessary type of a copy or the region are overloaded.

In the course of the solution of different tasks the AWS platform showed good search capabilities and fast problem solving with scalability. Having an opportunity to quickly receive hundreds of virtual machines from one AMI, we could increase and reduce scale depending on test conditions.

Trend Micro Deep Security

For March 21, 2011 Trend Micro Deep Security allows to protect confidential data, preventing their leak and to provide business continuity and also compliance to standards of security (including PCI DSS). Along with traditional methods of protection Deep Security ensures functioning of mechanisms of collecting, normalization and correlation of events from the different systems and applications functioning within the "cloud" environment. One of the most important features of a product is the Virtual Patching function allowing to prevent possible use of the known vulnerabilities until an exit of the corresponding program updates.

The software of Deep Security represents the tool of a comprehensive protection of physical, virtual and "cloud" servers intended for security of dynamic data processing centers.
