Exoskeletons of Panasonic will be used at the Olympic Games in Tokyo

At the end of September, 2019 Panasonic announced cooperation with the World federation of steam of powerlifting (WPPO) within which exoskeletons of the Japanese company will be used at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo at powerlifting competitions among athletes with defeat of the musculoskeletal device.

Exoskeletons of Panasonic will be used at the Olympic Games in Tokyo

Robotic Panasonic Atoun Y suits, according to developers, reduce load of a waist at rise or lowering of objects from a floor to waist level. They will be used by the personnel responsible for movement and preparation of bars and disks for athletes during the competitions.

The sensors which are built in exoskeletons will monitor the movements of extremities, arranging operation of engines to facilitate accomplishment of difficult and hard tasks.

Earlier exoskeletons of Panasonic were tested in the World Cup on pair to powerlifting of Asia and Oceania of 2018 and in the Championship of Japan on pair to powerlifting of 2017 events were held under the auspices of WPPO in Kitakyushu, Japan.  According to the results of tests the following advantages of Atoun were confirmed:

  • the increased security and accuracy during the attaching and removal of disks from a signature stamp;
  • reduction of time for preparation of a bar between attempts / athletes; povysheny productivities of the personnel servicing competitions and reduction of its physical activities; povyshenny security for athletes at accomplishment of attempts.

The world federation of steam of powerlifting uses exoskeletons of Panasonic

Panasonic became the official partner of federation of steam of powerlifting on the basis of the agreement signed on September 25, 2019.

Pair powerlifting — a competition in a press lying for athletes with defeat of the musculoskeletal device. In we lie performances of the athletes each employee who is responsible for loading of bars transfers more than 100 disks weighing from 10 to 50 kg.[1]
