2024: Turkey launches digital nomad visa How to get it

In April 2024, the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced the launch of a digital nomad visa in the country. The agency's website published requirements for potential participants in the new program:

  • age - from 21 to 55 years;
  • the presence of a diploma of graduation;
  • earnings of at least $3,000 per month or $36,000 per year.

Foreigners must document the status that allows them to work remotely. To do this, you can, for example, provide a permanent contract with a company registered outside Turkey, in which the applicant will be listed as a full-time employee. Another option is a contract with a firm for which a person works as a freelancer. In addition to the employment contract, the candidate for a Turkish nomad visa must be provided with:

  • foreign passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in Turkey;
  • diploma/university graduation document;
  • photography;
  • a document confirming the availability of the required income.

After verification and a positive decision, a foreigner can receive a certificate of identification of a digital nomad. With this certificate and the entire package of documents, it is necessary to apply for a digital nomad visa at the Turkish Visa Centre/Consulate.

According to CNBC, the Turkish authorities primarily want to attract freelancers and remote workers from abroad to Istanbul and Dalaman in the resort province of Mugla. There are the best conditions for work outside the office and wide opportunities for cultural and historical tourism. Turkey is one of the most visited countries in the world and its two cities, Istanbul and Antalya, were among the most visited cities in 2023, according to Euromonitor International.[1]

Protesters break into Incirlik airbase to stop support for Israel in destroying Gaza Strip

Organized in November 2023 by the iHH Foundation, the rally in support of Palestine from Istanbul to Adana on November 5 reached its climax.

The action against Israel smoothly turned into a protest against the deployment of American military bases in Turkey.

Protesters in a convoy of 250 cars (about 500 people) arrived at the gates of the Incirlik airbase, demanding its closure and liquidation. The Turks are worried that the US Air Force is taking off from the base to conduct reconnaissance and support the Israeli Air Force, which is destroying civilians in the Gaza Strip.

Since the protests entered a hot phase (the crowd broke through the police cordon, chanting the slogans "Death to Israel!," "Death to America!," "Freedom to Palestine!"), The governor of Adana province arrived at the scene.

The official tried to persuade the crowd to disperse, but this had no effect. As a result, the police used tear gas and water cannons, and also opened fire with rubber bullets on civilians, trying to contain the protesters. Among the victims are children.

At this time, 39 air wings of the US Air Force Command, which provides support to the Israeli Air Force, are deployed at Incirlik Air Base.
