History
2023: Completion of the transaction on the purchase by Rusatom Healthcare of a 100% stake in Akcentr
Rusatom Healthcare (Health Technologies Division of Rosatom State Corporation) has completed the acquisition of a 100% stake in the Accent Group of Companies, which specializes in the treatment of food and disposable medical products with ionizing radiation. On August 29, 2023, Zdrav.Expert was informed about this by representatives of the Health Technologies division of Rosatom State Corporation.
As of August 2023, Accent includes three large centers - in Kolpino (St. Petersburg), Rodniki and Dubna ( both in the Moscow region). Electron beam sterilization services are provided in accordance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 13485-2017.
Rosatom has been implementing projects for several years to create multifunctional centers for processing products with ionizing radiation in Russia. Since 2016, it has been providing sterilization services to the Sterion Center (Lytkarino, Moscow Region). At the final stage are projects to create such centers in Kazan and Obninsk.
According to Rosatom's calculations, the deal with Accent will allow the State Corporation to significantly strengthen its position in the market for sterilization of products and medical products.
"For several years, there has been an increase in demand for" cold "sterilization with ionizing radiation around the world. A wide range of food products, medical products and polymer materials can be exposed to this effect. This method is one of the most high-tech, cost-effective and safe, "said Igor Obrubov, General Director of Rusatom Healthcare JSC. |
2022: Rosatom acquires stake in Accent
On September 22, 2022, it became known about the sale of Aktsentr's stake in Rusatom Healthcare (a division of Rosatom that accumulates competencies in the field of health care). Financial and other terms of the transaction were not disclosed. According to TASS sources, we are talking about buying 50% of the capital of a company specializing in industrial sterilization and electron beam processing.
By September 2022, the Accent group of companies includes centers in Kolpino (5 thousand m2), Ivanovo (3 thousand m2) and Dubna (4 thousand m2). The company is engaged in the processing of medical and polymer products and by the end of 2021 was recognized as the leader in the market for processing products with ionizing radiation.
By 2023, Rosatom plans to build a multifunctional center for radiation sterilization of medical devices in Kazan, one of the largest in Russia. Its creation will cost 300 million rubles. The new company will focus on radiation sterilization of medical products: dressings, syringes, catheters, blood transfusion and filtration systems, etc. Similar centers will soon appear in Obninsk, Kaluga Region and Chelyabinsk Region, but Kazan will become one of the most productive in the network being created.
Radiation sterilization is highly effective (all manipulations are carried out on sealed products without the need to open the packaging) and environmentally friendly - it does not give any emissions of chemicals into the environment.
In addition, by September 2022, Rusatom Healthcare is building multifunctional centers for processing products with ionizing radiation in Russia and abroad. Since 2016, it has been providing sterilization services to the Sterion Center (Lytkarino, Moscow Region), created on the basis of the linear electron accelerator UEL 10-10S.[1]
2019: RVC bio-fund sold its stake in Accenter to Rurik Group of Companies
On December 9, 2019, Infrafond RVC informed Zdrav.Expert that RVC Biofond sold its stake in the authorized capital of Interregional Center for Sterilization Technologies Accent LLC (hereinafter referred to as Accent) to the co-investor of the project - Rurik Group of Companies.
At the time of the transaction, the share of the fund was 35%, the transaction is profitable for the fund, its details are not disclosed. The total investment of the RVC Biofund in the project amounted to more than 85 million rubles.
The technology used in the project for processing products with a beam of accelerated electrons is in demand in various industries, including medicine, agriculture, food production, and the production of automotive components. The treatment is optimal for sterilization of medical devices, including disposable medical devices and pharmaceutical products. Ionizing radiation is also used to modify and improve the properties of products based on polymer materials, including electrical products, heat-shrinking insulating products and automotive noise insulation. Another area of application is the destruction of pathogenic organisms and the extension of the shelf life of food, disinsection of agricultural products.
The company plans to develop a network of sterilization centers: as of December 2019, projects are being implemented in the North-West and Central Federal Districts. Among the most promising areas of development that the company is developing is the creation of innovative radiation-modified polymer materials.
We supported the project at its earliest and most risky stage of development and were not mistaken. We consider our task as a venture capital investor fulfilled: the business is stable, technology and product have been created, an effective team has been formed, active scaling has begun, the project has reached operational profitability. We positively assess the future prospects of the company and are pleased that several years ago, with our active participation, we managed to attract a strategic partner to the project, which has now significantly increased its share in the company and continues to develop this modern, high-tech business, |
