2020: Preparation of serial production of the electrocrossover developed in St. Petersburg
At the beginning of September, 2020 it became known of the preparing serial production of the electric vehicle CML Car developed by "The center of computer engineering" (CompMechLab) — key division of Competence center "New production technologies" of Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU).
It is remarkable that initially innovation will be released in the European market. As the head of CompMechLab Alexey Borovkov explained RBC, this solution is caused by a lack of infrastructure for electric vehicles in the Russian Federation. Terms of the beginning of sales CML Car in the Russian market will be determined according to the results of negotiations with investors: in case of their successful completion, in Russia will organize sufficient number of electrogas stations.
According to Borovkov, CML Car is the small city crossover expected a mass segment of the market. Parts of a body are supposed to be done of carbon fabrics, titanium and aluminum, and its design can be varied under tastes of the specific customer. The project is implemented in only two years due to use of technology of the "clever" digital double (SmartDigitalTwin) allowing to carry out virtual tests of the car, to model and measure any its indicators at all stages of lifecycle — from the moment of the beginning of design and before operation of a finished product up to its utilization. Detailed characteristics CML Car by September 8, 2020 are not published.
The Russian niche is most likely small rather cheap electric vehicles for driving in the close cities where the environmental problem is particularly acute, the experts polled by RBC say. Besides in this niche of so far poorly global manufacturers, so the competition not too tough. The first project of the electric vehicle CompMechLab just belongs to this category.[1]
