The start of the development of a regional strategy for the digital transformation of the health care system was announced in January 2021. It is planned to complete the development by September 1, 2021.

According to Yevgeny Shlyakhto, Director General of the National Medical Research Center named after V. A. At the same time, "the main thing is to ensure the safety and timeliness of medical care," he stressed.

In general, the digital transformation, announced by the President of the Russian Federation in July 2020 as one of the national goals, should become the main direction for work in the next 10 years, said the vice-governor of St. Petersburg Stanislav Kazarin. According to him, the goals formulated by experts are able to bring the healthcare sector of St. Petersburg to the next qualitative level.

According to Beglov, digital transformation has been identified by the president Russia Vladimir Putin as one of the country's national development goals. Until September 1, 2021, all entities must approve their regional models for key sectors of the economy, social sphere and public administration.

The head of St. Petersburg noted that when the coronavirus pandemic began, "everything had to be done for the first time," since there were no ready-made medical strategies.

The task was to quickly organize interaction between federal, city and private medical institutions, work with the scientific medical community and industry. We built this work. But it's time to get away from a lot of different headquarters, "he said.

One of the components of the digital transformation of the St. Petersburg medical system was the creation of a single digital circuit in healthcare based on Uniform State Health Information System.
