2017: Dassault Systèmes purchases AITAC

The Dassault Systèmes company announced on July 17 signing of the final agreement about acquisition of the Netherlands company AITAC BV. Thanks to this acquisition of Dassault Systèmes expects to expand a portfolio of the solutions developed for implementation of digital transformation of shipbuilding and sea construction due to providing industry technologies to the customers working with platform 3DExperience. The deal was closed on June 1, 2017, financial conditions do not reveal.

The AITAC Smart Drawings software application is used by shipyards and the sea companies for automation of creation of drawings from 3D master models of the ships, platforms or other constructions created using the Dassault Systèmes CATIA applications. Automation is performed using rules and templates in which standards, specific to sea construction, algorithms and local requirements are considered. The companies can reduce the costs connected with creation of drawings, increase quality of the certifying documents and derive the maximum benefit of use of 3D master model.

Dassault Systèmes intends to integrate completely the Smart Drawings application into the industry solutions Designed for Sea and Optimized Production for Sea constructed based on platform 3DExperience and used by the companies for design, validation and production planning at implementation of sea and shelf projects.

Within the transaction of Dassault Systèmes also purchased 40% of the technical bureau AITAC in Croatia specializing in shipbuilding and sea constructionAITAC d.o.o. companies which are service provider in the field of ship architecture and design for large shipbuilding companies.

In the companies specializing in shipbuilding and sea construction, preparation of traditional drawings was performed by separate departments, at the same time drawings represented separate documents. Today the industry gradually passes to use of uniform cross-disciplinary 3D master model that provides digital integrity when implementing sea projects — from work on the initial concept before production and operation, told in Dassault Systèmes.

"For many years the AITAC company acted as the partner of Dassault Systèmes in the software, working with the customers using platform 3DExperience. Today we bring this long and fruitful partnership to new level — Alain Houard, the vice president, shipbuilding and sea construction, Dassault Systèmes said. — Long-term experience of AITAC, their examination and a team of sea architects and engineers will help us to expand a portfolio of our solutions for shipbuilding and sea construction and also will provide support when implementing projects for our customers".
