NuoDB

NuoDB — American the developer founded in 2010 of the same name relational database management systems (DBMS), intended for the distributed deployment in a cloud. NuoDB treats the products NewSQL, it saves characteristics of traditional SQL of databases and also includes scaling support functions in environments cloud computing. Application programs interact with NuoDB with operators of SQL, as well as in a relational database and also supports the ACID model (atomicity, consistency, isolation, durability — "atomicity, consistency, isolation, durability") for reliability of transactions.

According to developers, the architecture of NuoDB differs from the set relational approaches, using three-level structure with levels of administration, transactions and storages. Such multilevel approach means that NuoDB can work without close connection of the application and its data at a disk that was a problem in some cloud applicaions.

History

2020: Dassault Systemes purchased NuoDB

On November 25, 2020 Dassault Systemes announced purchase of 100% of NuoDB. Before the French decision maker for 3D - design and product lifecycle management owned a 16 percent share in the American startup. Its participants did not begin to open financial terms of agreement. It is going to close the transaction until the end of December, 2020.

The CEO of NuoDB Bob Walmsley says that thanks to a company merger will be able to accelerate development of joint products that "implement a unique deposit to the multicloud distributed SQL DBMS, provided in quality as service which will provide support to strategic clients".

In the press release it is noted that Dassault Systemes and NuoDB cooperate since 2013, and the new transaction "underlines the unique opportunities of the distributed NuoDB DBMS which are well adapted for cloud environments even more".^[1]
