2016: Broadcom buys Brocade for $5.5 billion
On November 2, 2016, Broadcom announced the purchase of network equipment manufacturer Brocade Communications Systems for $5.5 billion. Thanks to this transaction, the buyer will be able to expand his business in the field of fiber-optic communication and data storage. More details here.
2014: Plans for tripling the number of employees
In March 2014, Brocade announced plans to triple the number of employees in Russia and the CIS. Given the global uncertainty of the global macroeconomic situation, Brocade positively assesses the market of Russia and the CIS and considers it as a region for investment. Brocade's turnover in the Russian and CIS regions has been growing markedly for three consecutive years, and the prospects for fiscal year 2014 are also good.
As a first step, the number of Brocade employees in the Moscow office is planned to triple in the next 6 months.
As of March 2014, there are two main channels for selling Brocade equipment: OEM partners and Brocade's own channel. All SAN hardware and some LAN/converged products are and will be sold through Brocade OEM partners (Dell, EMC, Fujitsu, HP, HDS, Huawei, IBM, NetApp, Oracle, etc.). The business model works well, and it is not planned to change it. The addition of employees is expected both on the Brocade side and on the side of a number of OEM partners.
Most Brocade-branded LAN/converged solutions are sold through Brocade's own channel - distributors and system integrators. Most of the 2014 investments are aimed at developing this channel.
2013: Brocade head visits Russia for the first time
In October 2013, for the first time in history, CEO Brocade Lloyd Carney and Vice President in the region EMEA , Marcus Jewell, visited Russia to discuss the development of the region. According to the results of the visit, a growth plan for the Russia and CIS region was approved.
As of March 2013, all FC SAN Brocade equipment in Russia and the CIS is sold only through Brocade OEM partners. There are no direct authorized partners for the sale of SAN and are not planned.
Brocade IP equipment is sold primarily through its own Brocade channel (authorized distributors and system integrators). Also, Brocade IP products begin to appear in Brocade OEM partners as part of integrated OEM partner solutions.
2012: 7% sales growth
Brocade's business in Russia and the CIS in fiscal year 2012 was successful. The total sales of 2012 Brocade in Russia and the CIS exceeded the results of 2011 by 7%. Brocade IP sales grew by 91% in 2012 - in all areas - FCX/FastIron/ICS switches and MLX/NetIron routers, VDX Ethernet fabric switches, ADX load balancers.
SAN sales in the region grew by 2%, which turned out to be an extremely good result, taking into account the characteristics of 2011. In 2011, a very large SAN project took place in Russia, providing strong growth in 2011 relative to 2010. 2012 was, in fact, the first year of mass renewal of SAN infrastructure in the Russia and CIS region after the 2008 crisis - there were many medium and small projects among a large number of customers in many countries. We see the active introduction of 5th generation FC technology (16 Gb/s) - telecommunications companies, banks, government organizations, manufacturing companies, retail networks and other organizations. The first blades with 16 Gb/s of Brocade switches came out - the company expects their active implementation in 2013.
