2025: Bosch Samara Plant Restart
In April 2025, the NAMI Central Research Automobile and Motor Institute launched the production of automotive components at the NAMI Innovative Components site in the Samara Region. The company, which previously belonged to the German company Bosch, has launched the production of electronic safety systems for Russian cars, including the anti-lock brake system (ABS) and the course stability system (ESP).
For the development of fully domestic automotive systems, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia has allocated special funds for research and development work. The Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Anton Alikhanov noted that we are talking not only about the localization of the main components of the hydraulic system and electronic control units, but also about the development of our own competencies in terms of software, calibrations, tests and validation of systems.
The history of the enterprise began in June 2023, when FSUE NAMI acquired a 100% stake in Robert Bosh Samara LLC, a plant where steering systems, ABS and ESP were previously produced. After that, the company was renamed "NAMI Innovative Components" and underwent technological modernization.
The key achievement of the project was the development by Russian engineers of unique software that controls the operation of the anti-lock system and the vehicle's directional stability system. This is the first such experience in Russia to ensure technological sovereignty in the field of intelligent braking systems.
The Governor of the Samara Region Vyacheslav Fedorishchev called the launch of the enterprise a significant event for the auto component industry of the region. According to him, the updated production involves achieving a 100% level of localization, which corresponds to the strategic goals of import substitution in the automotive industry.[1]

Name change to "NAMI-Innovative Components"
On August 7, 2023, the federal state unitary enterprise "Central Research Automobile and Motor Institute" US"announced the change of the name of the previously purchased Bosch plant To Samara to" NAMI-Innovative Components. " This procedure was the first stage in the implementation of the competencies of FSUE NAMI in the process of restarting the company, the press service of the institute explained.
Today, one of the main tasks set for the Russian automotive industry is the development of the component base and suppliers of auto components. FSUE NAMI, on behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, is implementing a program for the development of the auto-component industry. Changes in the company "NAMI-Innovative Components" correspond to systematic work in this direction, - said the general director of "NAMI" Fedor Nazarov (quoted by TASS). |

An entry on changing the name of the company to "NAMI-Innovative Components" in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities (Unified State Register of Legal Entities) appeared on July 29, 2023, Interfax notes. The plant was engaged in the production of anti-blocking systems (ABS) and dynamic stabilization systems (ESP) for cars and transferred to state ownership in June 2023.
The plant with an area of more than 20 thousand square meters. m is located in the industrial park "Preobrazhenka" 10 km from Samara. Several billion rubles were invested in the project. It is planned that the production of ABS and ESP systems will be launched again from 2024, and from 2025 the plant will reach its design capacity. According to the press service of NAMI, renaming was the first stage in introducing the institute's competencies into the process of restarting the company. Commenting on the sale of Robert Bosh Samara, auto expert Georgy Karpunin said the following
On the one hand, we get more or less spent technological processes, on the other hand, all will rest on suppliers of components and in the depth of the level of domestic engineering, because sooner or later, sadly, these systems will become obsolete, as the modern progressive society promotes, it means that these systems will have to be updated, we will have to bring adjacent industries to the next level - the production of the element base, those semiconductors that make up the electrical circuit, the so-called brains of all these systems. It would be nice for this to stretch one after another and have a comprehensive development.[3]
