On January 19, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation - Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov, during his working trip to the Smolensk Region, announced his decision to transfer the Roslavl Brake Systems (RAAZ) company to the jurisdiction of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise NAMI, subordinate to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Today, the Moscow government, which currently owns the plant, and I have developed a joint decision on the future fate of the enterprise. Moscow is ready to transfer it to a strategic investor. The NAMI Institute, located in Moscow, is ready to act as a driver for the development of the plant, "Manturov said at a meeting with the Governor of the Smolensk Region Vasily Anokhin on January 19, 2024. |
The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Smolensk region will substitute the RAAZ "financial leverage" in order to "give the project a second life by joint efforts." According to Denis Manturov, joint efforts can achieve a growth point that will ensure the replacement of imported nomenclature and increase the volume of production of the most popular products purchased by GAZ, KamAZ, MAZ, etc.
By this day, the RAAZ website reports that the enterprise's capacity allows for the production of 150 thousand sets of braking devices per year. Thanks to a preferential loan from the Industrial Development Fund (FRP) in the amount of 234 million rubles, RAAZ wants to increase the production of modern import-substituting components for pneumatic braking systems.[1]
