2024: Demeter-Holding bought Jade
The large Russian logistics company Demetra-Holding completed the acquisition of the Jefrit wagon company, as a result of which the holding replenished its fleet of innovative gondola cars and cement hoppers. This became known in August 2024. The deal included about 1.8 thousand units of rolling stock.
According to Kommersant, in the process of consolidating assets, Cargo Company LLC and Rusagrotrans LLC received 99% and 1% of shares, respectively, in the Jefrit carriage company. These changes were registered with the Unified State Register of Legal Entities at the end of July 2024. The deal will allow Demeter-Holding to expand its railcar fleet with new gondola cars and cement hoppers, which is especially important in the face of rising prices for new rolling stock.
According to SPARK, before that, Jade was owned by ZPIF Citrin, and previously belonged to Denis Ilatovsky, known for his experience in the United Metallurgical Company and the Delo group.
Demetra-Holding is actively developing its logistics capacity and grain trading, which includes shares in companies such as the Novorossiysk Bakery Plant, the United Grain Company and the Novorossiysk Grain Terminal. The holding also includes the largest grain hopper operator Rusagrotrans and forest cargo carrier TransLes. Since 2023, VTB's stake in Demeter-Holding has been bought out, and the current owners are hidden in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.
According to the Infoline report, in the first quarter of 2024, Demetra-Holding took third place among the largest railway operators in Russia. Thanks to an aggressive investment policy, the company has increased its fleet of cars from 77.7 thousand to 86.5 thousand in 2023. In addition to new purchases of rolling stock from manufacturers, the holding is also actively acquiring other companies, including the largest deal of 2023 - the purchase of operator WTG with a fleet of more than 5 thousand cars.[1]
