2020

TMT Investments sold Pipedrive share for $41 million

On November 12, 2020 the TMT Investments fund announced sale of the share in Pipedrive of the American investment company Vista Equity Partners. The cost of the transaction was $41 million.

As the co-founder of TMT Investments Herman Kaplun reported on the page on Facebook, Pipedrive startup, according to media, is estimated by investors at $1.5 billion.

Herman Kaplun also said that sale of Pipedrive is the biggest exit in the history of fund. Business of Pipedrive from the moment of the first investments in 2012-2013 grew more than by 51 times. For the history by November 12, 2020 the startup attracted more than $90 million investments.  90 thousand companies in 170 countries use solutions of Pipedrive.

In September Pipedrive started complex new tool kit for generation of leads and management of them — LeadBooster, For users it:

  • the B2B database from 400 million business profiles and 10 million companies on the basis of an ideal profile of the client of the user for outgoing leads;
  • the database updates 800 thousand profiles every day;
  • the base completely conforms to requirements of GDPR and other international processing rules of data;
  • the high-configured chat-bot which interacts with web traffic 24/7;
  • live chat to help sales representatives to qualify leads in real time;
  • intuitive and public web forms for collecting of the vital data on leads of web browsers;
  • superstructure under the name Web Visitors for monitoring of web activity.[1]

Purchase of email mailings Mailigen

Pipedrive made the first purchase, having purchased the platform for email mailings Mailigen. Threshing barn will become the fifth center of development Pipedrive where development of the new software version combining functionality of sales and marketing will begin, and the office Mailigen in St. Petersburg will be opened for the company by east direction in development.

According to the chairman and the cofounder of Pipedrive Timo Rein, the solution Mailigen promotes achievement of the goal of Pipedrive — to provide the tools, best and simplest in use, on each process step of sales, from search and development of contacts before completion of transactions and customer retention.

In the coming months of Pipedrive and Mailigen will focus on integration of the technical solutions and business, and the powerful new product will be released soon.

All staff of Mailigen joins the Pipedrive command numbering more than 630 people representing nearly 50 different nationalities. Pipedrive is going to recruit developers and other specialists in the Riga command.

In the Russian team there will be 7-10 people who in a year should prepare the information and analytical platform for large-scale entry into the market in 2021. It will be the deep interviews with users training actions and master classes in use of a product. In plans there is no purchase of other local players yet, however development of office can be prompt both on number of people, and on the cities. It is possible that departments will appear not only in St. Petersburg and Moscow, but also in some million-plus cities.

According to Yanis Rozenblats, to the transaction of Pipedrive did not look towards Russia owing to features and specifics of the market. Clients find the company and use service even without Russian-speaking support. However now Pipedrive has a strong partner on behalf of Mailigen company with successful experience of an output to the market of the platform for email - Mailigen mailings. Therefore it is expected that work in the Russian direction will be successful and large-scale.

2013: Attraction of $2.4 million financing

In September, 2013 Pipedrive, according to TechCrunch, received $2.4 million more financing, among participants there is Russian TMT Investments[2].

At this time Pipedrive reports about the triple growth of the user base and "thousands" of paid clients in hundreds of the countries of the world.

In August, 2012 it became known that TMT Investments invested $325 thousand in Pipedrive.

On the website Pipedrive it is reported that the company will spend the received funds for acceleration of development of a product and expansion of sales in the main market, in the USA.

2011: Public beta of a product

In January, 2011 Pipedrive started the public beta of a product. For August, 2012 it is used by more than 1.5 thousand organizations in more than 50 countries.

2010: Estonians Timo Rein and Yurmas Purde found the company and attract $250 thousand

The Pipedrive company is founded in 2010 by a team of experts with the Estonian roots in the field of sales and software developers. Co-founders of the company, Timo Rein and Yurmas Purde, participated in creation of Vain & Partners before - leading company in the field of training of a sales personnel in Baltiysk and northern regions.

Pipedrive attracted a quarter of one million dollars of angel investors from Silicon Valley and Europe.
