2023: Sovcombank joins Septem Capital

According to Sovcombank, the reorganization is aimed at improving the competitiveness and quality of financial services provided in the securities market, as well as at optimizing the group's business structure.

The investment company Septem Capital specializes in operations in the bond market. In addition to the brokerage business, Septem Capital developed the DCM direction, was one of the organizers of bond issues for small and medium-sized companies. By March 2023, the company, as well as Sovcombank, are under blocking US sanctions.^[1]

It is possible that the owners of Sovcombank, based on reputational considerations, decided to dissolve, on the one hand, the bank's business, based on simple and understandable services for a wide range of Russians with an average income, and, on the other hand, investment services for advanced "physicists" clients and services for bringing VDO [high-yield bonds] to the market, - said Olga Ulyanova, senior credit expert at Moody's.

According to the expert, market losses and defaults that are characteristic of the investment business are "not the best background for attracting retail clientele." However, adds Ulyanova, there could also be "considerations of a more operational order, as the distribution of risks and expenses between shareholders."

2022: Sovcombank makes Ilya Stanislavsky the owner of the company

In February 2022, Sovcombank, due to reputational risks, abandoned the idea of ​ ​ integrating the investment company Septem Capital, which traded garbage bonds. In particular, she is negotiating the default papers of Footwear of Russia, Lombard Master.
