2023: Astra Group bought 26% of ReSolut

At the end of August 2023, it became known that Astra Group, the developer of the Russian operating system Astra Linux, is creating its own platform for joint development and hosting of open source IT projects.

According to the Kommersant newspaper, we are talking about the launch of an analogue of foreign repositories GitLab, GitHub and BitBucket. The fact is that due to the current geopolitical situation, the access of Russian developers to these sites was limited. In particular, GitHub has blocked the accounts of a number of companies, banks and private users from the Russian Federation. Therefore, there is a need to form a domestic alternative.

Astra Group creates its own platform for collaborative development and hosting of open source IT projects

As part of the Astra Group project, on August 24, 2023, it acquired a 26% stake in Resolut LLC, the creator of the open source storage and joint development platform GitFlic. In the future, participation in this company is planned to be increased to 51%, while the remaining 49% will belong to the founders of Resolyut.

According to Ilya Sivtsev, CEO of Astra Group, the company is working on a platform that will be a complete environment with a combination of source code management tools, testing, automation, documentation, framework and development templates. The launch of the site is scheduled for 2023. Resolyut says that "with the support of a large vendor" they plan to increase the pace of product development, as well as "offer the market boxed solutions, including with information protection tools."

The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The general director of AFI Capital, Alexei Gorislavets, believes that a 26 percent stake in Resolyut may cost about 5 million rubles, while the acquisition of 51% will cost about 10 million rubles. However, the top manager of one of the Russian IT companies believes that the purpose of the agreement is to "buy a development team," while the amount of the transaction can reach 50-70 million rubles (for 51% of Resolyut).[1]
