HPE closed the deal on acquisition of Silver Peak for $925 million
Hewlett Packard Enterprise completed purchase of Silver Peak, the developer of SD-WAN technology, for 925 million dollars, having entered sharp rivalry with the old competitor of Cisco Systems in the market of corporate networks. It became known on September 22, 2020.
The transaction gives to HPE all arsenal of opportunities of SD-WAN of Silver Peak company which was called by the Leader in "A magic quadrant" of Gartner of 2019 in the market of EDGE infrastructure of global networks.
HPE reported that Silver Peak will become a part of offers of Aruba, having supported its Aruba ESP platform (Edge Services Platform) with "with the comprehensive solution of a cloud to intellectual border with a scope of all aspects of a wired and wireless local and global network".
HPE expects that the transaction will open "considerable opportunities of income and will promote growth" income and a gross profit in the Intelligent Edge market; at the same time the company does not expect influence on the amount of the profit which is not considering the requirement of GAAP in 2022 financial year.
David Hughes, the founder and the general manager of Silver Peak, will become the senior vice president of business of WAN in Aruba.
The general manager of HPE Antonio Neri emphasized in the official statement that the transaction gives to HPE a "comprehensive" portfolio of SD-WAN technologies which will accelerate "providing truly distributed cloud model and cloud solutions for all applications and data where they were".
After the declaration of HPE of Silver Peak purchase on July 13 Cisco stated that this transaction underlines importance of SD-WAN as integral part[1].
HPE purchased Silver Peak for $925 million
On July 13, 2020 HPE announced acquisition of Silver Peak for $925 million. Closing of the transaction is expected by the end of October. At first regulators should approve it.
Sale of Silver Peak became very profitable to investors, considering that before the company attracted much less investments, than will pay HPE — $176 million.
HPE already began earlier work in the SD-WAN market, developing a product line of SD-Branch of Aruba subsidiary company. Acquisition of Silver Peak should strengthen strongly positions of HPE in the market, considering that the bought company has several thousands of large customers more than in 100 countries.
HPE is going to integrate the developed Silver Peak of SD-WAN technology with the Edge Service platform which released Aruba in June, 2020 and which uses artificial intelligence for automatic troubleshooting in network.[2]
