History

2021: Attracting investment from Volvo Cars

At the end of November 2021 Swedish , the automaker Volvo Cars invested Israeli startup in Spectralics in the field of optics and imaging through its venture capital investments Volvo Cars Tech Fund division. Financial the terms of the transaction are not disclosed. It is known that Volvo will use the development of Spectralics to create windshields with. augmented reality

Volvo bought a stake in the developer of glass with augmented reality Spectralics to use them in cars

One of the main developments from Spectralics is a multilayer thin combiner, which is a new type of thin optical film applicable to transparent surfaces of any shape and size. Integrated into the windshield or windows of the car, the technology can be used to superimpose images on the glass. In a windshield configuration, the technology can create a projection display with a wide field of view that can create a sense of distance, since virtual objects are superimposed on the real environment for a safe and exciting experience, as noted in Spectralics. Among other potential applications of the technology are advanced filters for various applications, sensors in the car interior, blind front-view cameras and digital holographic projections.
