1956: In-Car Vinyl Record Player
At that time, there were no radio recorders or players, so auto companies began to experiment with installing phonographs in cars.
The first examples in 1956 were installed on some Chrysler, DeSoto, Dodge and Plymouth models. The only downside was that the records were impossible to listen to on the go. The slightest unevenness on the road led to the needle slipping off the plate.
They say that even boxer Mohammed Ali loved to listen to his favorite vinyl record in a car.
