2022

Andrey Kosogov is the largest beneficiary of Alfa-Bank

In March 2022, it became known that Andrei Kosogov became the largest beneficiary of Alfa Bank. Previously, the largest stake in the credit institution belonged to Mikhail Fridman.

According to Kommersant, citing an updated shareholder structure posted on Alfa Bank's website, Kosogov's share in ABH Holdings S.A. (Alfa Bank is 100% owned by this holding) increased from 3.7% to almost 41%. This happened after the sale of all their shares in the holding by German Khan and Alexei Kuzmichev, who owned 20.97% and 16.3% until March 2022.

In March 2022, Alfa-Bank changed the largest beneficiary

The remaining owners of the ownership in ABH Holdings S.A. did not change: 32.86% - from Mikhail Fridman, 12.4% - from Peter Aven, 9.9% - from UniCredit S.p.A. 3,87% — у The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research.

The European Union imposed sanctions against Friedman, Aven and several other businessmen on February 28, 2022. The UK did the same two weeks after the EU. Alfa Bank also fell under US sanctions. In particular, he was limited access to the US capital market. On March 1, both businessmen announced their intention to challenge the decision of Brussels.

Friedman and Aven called the EU decision to impose sanctions unreasonable and declared their intention to challenge it. The EU's justification for including businessmen in the sanctions list says that they "participated in the Kremlin's attempts to lift US sanctions imposed to counter Russia's aggressive policy towards Ukraine," and also "actively supported financially or financially and benefited" from the leaders responsible for the annexation of Crimea and "destabilization of Ukraine."

As of mid-March 2022, Alfa-Bank ranks fourth in terms of assets in Russia - 5.6 trillion rubles.[5]

5th place in the list of CNews of the richest signalmen in Russia

Andrei Kosogov took 5th place in the ranking of the richest operators Russia in 2022 according to the version. CNews

Andrey Kosogov is one of the oldest top managers of Alfa Group. In the ranking of the richest signalmen CNews in 2015, he was in 15th place. He has long had minority stakes in the group's projects and was ranked by CNews. However, this year, for the first time, he bypassed the three founders of the group - Mikhail Fridman, German Khan and Alexei Kuzmichev. The reason was the inclusion of all three mentioned persons in the sanctions lists of the European Union and Great Britain.

After that, Khan and Kuzmichev left the capital of LetterOne, an investment company created by the founders of Alfa Group and Alfa Bank. Shares in Alfa-Bank were transferred to Kosogov. According to this logic, the shares of Khan and Kuzmichev in LetterOne were also transferred to Kosogov. LetterOne, among other things, is the largest shareholder in the Veon group.

In the early 90s, Kosogov headed the Alfa Capital checking investment fund, which was part of Alfa Group. Then he worked for a long time in senior positions at Alfa Bank. In recent years, Kosogov served on the boards of directors of Alfa Bank, the management company Alfa Capital and Alfa Insurance[6].
