At the end of July 2024 China electric vehicle , the RDIF international corporation XY Group and the electric car developer reached an agreement to attract investors from and localize the production of the Russian Atom in China. JSC "Kama"[2]
The cost of the car is no more than 4 million rubles
The cost of the Russian electric car "Atom," which will go on sale in 2025, will not exceed 4 million rubles, excluding state subsidies. This was announced on June 26, 2024 by the general director of the Kama company Igor Povasdnyuk.
According to Povarazdnyuk, the price of Atom will be comparable to the current price range for domestic electric vehicles, which ranges from 2.9 million to 4 million rubles. At the same time, the exact cost will be announced later. Povasdnyuk noted that the company's approach to the development of an electric car is similar to the strategy of the Chinese brand Zeekr - premium functions in the mass price segment.
According to TASS, Atom sales will be carried out through an online platform, and it will be possible to test an electric car in car sharing. There will be no traditional dealer networks, but service centers will be created for servicing and repairing cars, which will ensure a high level of customer service.
In addition, the CEO of Kama said that in the future, Atom could become completely unmanned. In 2025, at the start of production, the electric car will be equipped with a second-level driver assistance system (ADAS 2 +), which includes 18 functions such as autonomous parking, lane retention, adaptive cruise control and emergency braking. By 2027, it is planned to move to the third level of automation, when the driver's participation in driving will be minimal.

This makes Atom competitive in the electric vehicle market, which can attract significant consumer attention and contribute to the development of the electric vehicle market in Russia.[3]
The main components of the Atom electric car will be produced jointly with Chinese companies
The Atom electric car, developed by the Russian startup Kama, will be equipped with the main units and units produced in cooperation with Chinese companies. This will ensure a timely launch of sales, although it will make the car somewhat more expensive. This was reported on June 17, 2024 by the Vedomosti edition with reference to the materials of the Russian company.
Among the key components that will be jointly developed with Chinese partners are the steering mechanism without physical connection of the steering wheel and wheels (steer-by-wire) and control electronics. A windshield projection display (HUD) and a traction battery thermal control system will also be created in conjunction with Chinese specialists. At the same time, the platform, intelligent driver assistance systems (ADAS) and the Atom OS operating system will remain completely Russian.
According to the executive director of Avtostat, Sergei Udalov, the high-tech components necessary for the production of an electric car are currently not produced in Russia. In China, the cost of their production is much lower due to large output volumes. He noted that at the initial stage this may affect the price of an electric car, but over time, operating costs will decrease as the localization of production increases.
The traction battery of the Atom electric car will be produced jointly with the Chinese company and the Russian Rosatom. The production of these batteries will be established at the first Russian gigafactory in the Kaliningrad region, the launch of which is scheduled for 2025. At the same time, mass production of Atom electric vehicles at the Moskvich plant will begin.
The electric motor for the electric car will also be produced from 2025 in conjunction with the Chinese company Jee. Delivery Services Van Version Announcement
In early June 2024, the Kama company presented a version of the Atom electric car in the form of a van developed for delivery services. The novelty belongs to the N1 category (light commercial vehicles with a carrying capacity of up to 3.5 tons).
According to the manufacturer, the van has a carrying capacity of up to 360 kilograms and a cargo compartment volume of 1.6 thousand liters. On one charge, he will be able to cover a distance of up to 500 kilometers. By default, the van is only equipped with a driver's seat, however, the front passenger seat can be installed at an additional cost to increase cargo space.
The length of the car is 3.9 meters, which is comparable to the size of the Lada Granta hatchback. The loading height of the van is 69 centimeters, and the loading length is up to 220 centimeters. The inner space is equipped with a system for fastening loads, which includes floor lifting racks, fastening hooks and belts. A cabin partition is also provided to ensure safety during transportation.
Our goal is to create a convenient and effective vehicle for delivery services, which will be not only environmentally friendly, but also functional, "said a company representative. |
Kama reported that the van is equipped with a number of modern technological solutions, including a screen on the steering wheel, a projection display and ADAS level 2 + driver assistants. The power of the electric motor is 204 horsepower (294 Nm), and the battery capacity is 77 kilowatt-hours, which provides a high level of performance and autonomy.
Serial production of the new electric car is scheduled for the third quarter of 2025 and will be carried out at the Moskvich plant. It is expected that the cost of the van will begin at 2.5 million rubles.
According to the company, the use of a van will significantly reduce the operating costs of delivery services and reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere, which meets modern environmental requirements and standards.[6]
Using an augmented reality projection display
Russian electric car "Atom" received a projection display with augmented reality (AR HUD). This became known in mid-April 2024.
By this date, the first version of the Builder application designer for a projection AR display was released, which will be installed on the Atom electric car. The applications will run on their own AR Engine, which, according to the developers, provides interaction between the projection display and the media system, allowing you to form the required components of the image. It is planned to display both current data on the state of the electric car (for example, speed), and various prompts and application interfaces.
The projection is said to be perceived by the driver as being 12 metres away from him. Such a distance was chosen because when switching attention from the road to AR HUD, the focus of vision does not change. For other projection displays common on the market, this figure mainly varies from 1 to 5 meters. Each AR HUD will be tested and calibrated at the factory using machine vision. In this case, the driver will be able to adjust the height and slope of the projection.
It is also reported that "Atom" will receive a multifunctional steering wheel with a built-in display, and in addition to the usual functions, the steering wheel will have control over functions that are usually tied to buttons and levers located in different places in the cabin. On the "Atom" steering wheel, they will not be implemented in the form of physical controls and levers, but as interface elements in the touchscreen touch screen. In addition to the touch display, physical joysticks on the steering wheel will be provided to control the screen.
The start of sales of the electric car "Atom" is scheduled for 2025.[7]

ATOM includes the creation of a digital mobility environment and the electric car itself. told Igor Povasdnyuk, General Director of KAMA JSC |
Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, Russian scientist and the founder, astronautics spoke of human atoms in the context of the philosophy of the universe and the construction of communities. A century later, philosophy resonated with the young Russian team from the banks of the Kama.
According to the company, the arteries of cities fill other mobility. Car sharing, taxis, everything delivery is a significant part of an ordinary city day, along with social networks, instant messengers, subscriptions, coworking spaces, metaverse and NFT. The team's task is to make an electric car that fits this lifestyle.
The transition to electric transport funds is a well-trodden road that most automakers in the world follow.
When developing a project, it is important to take into account not only technological, automotive trends, but also to create a mentally, worldview and modern product. Given the scale of changes in people's thinking and lifestyle even over the past 10 years, it would be wrong of us to offer users just an electric motor instead of an internal combustion engine and more advanced car characteristics. commented Igor Povasdnyuk, General Director of KAMA JSC |
To solve the problem, a team of product specialists, IT developers, UX designers from various areas was assembled: from mobility to gaming, from fintech to blockchain.
