After the introduction of large-scale anti-Russian banks, which did not pass Sber, the bank began to transfer all software related to the operation of ATMs to its own developments.

Earlier in 2022, Sberbank completed the transfer of 80% of the ATM network software to its own development. The Bank abandoned the use of vendor tools for managing network infrastructure, introduced online tools for monitoring and restoring the performance of self-service devices. The entire logic of the ATM and the tools for reflecting the client and service interface function using the developments of Sberbank, including those based on open source solutions, the credit institution said.

In addition, by the beginning of September 2022, Sberbank successfully completed the transfer of 14 thousand electronic queue devices to Linux of its own build.[1]

In 2020, Sberbank has a record decrease in the number of ATMs

Thanks to the use of artificial intelligence when looking for new locations for ATMs, Sberbank helped to reduce customers' expectations in line by about 14%. In 97% of self-service devices, the interface has been updated in the style of the new brand.

The Sberbank report also says that in 2020, about 62% of all ATMs of a credit institution were equipped with a recycling function (they give out money that was previously made by other customers) and more than 90% worked on contactless technology. At the same time, the number of contactless devices for the year decreased from 66.1 thousand to 63.8 thousand, and with the function of a personal main screen - from 69 thousand to 65.7 thousand.

By the end of 2020, Sberbank had 32 thousand ATMs with a recycling function against 24.9 thousand a year earlier and 12.6 thousand by the end of 2018. For comparison: in 2016, the bank had about 0.5 thousand such devices.
