The Perekrestok retail chain has connected all self-service checkouts in all supermarkets to the age verification service using the Digital ID in the MAX messenger. The solution will simplify the process of buying 18 + goods for buyers and optimize personnel labor costs. This was announced by Perekrestok on December 22, 2025.

A digital ID is an analogue of paper documents in the form of a QR code, which is located in the user's profile in MAX. The QR code allows you to confirm age without a paper passport when buying goods with age restrictions at self-service checkouts.

The digital ID is only valid on the device on which it was created, and the dynamic QR code is updated every 30 seconds. It is impossible to take a screenshot of the digital ID - instead of a QR code, the photo will have a white screen. Access to the QR code is carried out only through Face ID or by the fingerprint of the smartphone owner.

In order to use the service at the self-service checkout, it is enough for the buyer to scan the goods, and then QR code from the MAX messenger and pay for the purchase.

The ability to confirm age through the Max messenger

MAX users will be able to apply Digital ID in X5 Group stores, which announced this on September 23, 2025.

You can confirm your age using the messenger when buying 18 + products in Pyaterochki and Perekrestki. The technology within the framework of the pilot project was introduced at self-service cash desks in stores in Moscow, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg and the Chelyabinsk region.

You can apply the Digital ID for September 2025 in 23 Kh5 stores: in 18 Pyaterochki and five Perekresestki, in the future the number of stores may increase. To confirm the purchase of 18 + items via MAX, you must:

• create a Digital ID in the messenger profile;
• Scan an item with an age limit at the self-service checkout
• press "Confirm age via MAX" button;
• bring the QR code of the Digital ID to the reader.

MACH launched the possibility of creating a Digital ID in a pilot format on September 15, 2025. A digital ID is an analogue of paper documents that allows you to confirm the age, status of a student and a large parent. Identity confirmation is carried out through a constantly updating dynamic QR code in the messenger profile.

To create a Digital ID, you must:

• update the applications of MAX and Public services to the latest version;
• select the "Digital ID" icon in the "Profile" section and click on the "New" button;
• consent to "Face or Fingerprint Entry";
• click on the "Go to Public services" button, give consent to the processing of personal data and confirmation of identity by biometrics: in person or by passport online;
• take a selfie;
• receive confirmation that the Digital ID is ready.
