If the German government declares the highest level of danger in the country due to the reduction in gas supplies from Russia, BASF will still be able to provide gas to its largest enterprise - the chemical complex in Lukvigshafen, although with a reduction in its load, said Brudermüller.

According to the head of BASF, the company intends to use gas alternatives where possible, and has already cut production volumes at enterprises that require especially large volumes of gas.

BASF decided to stop current activities Belarus in Russia and by the beginning of 2022 July. Sale of oil and gas production company Wintershall Dea to British Harbor Energy

$72.5m compensation for people who used asbestos products

At the end of July 2020, it became known that the world's largest chemical manufacturer BASF should pay $72.5 million for trying to hide asbestos contained in numerous talc products, including children's balloons. The total cost of the settlement, including legal costs and other expenses, is almost $100 million.

BASF's Engelhard Corp. division owned a Vermont mine that supplied talc for industrial and consumer use, such as wall panels and balloons, the court found. However, the talc in question in the lawsuit, that is, sold between 1967 and 1983, contained an asbestos impurity and could not be used. The company has so far denied the allegations and claims it only used that talc for industrial purposes.

BASF to pay $72.5 million to sell asbestos products

Numerous lawsuits began to come back in the 1970s, and subsequently this struggle of individuals with BASF and other manufacturers of construction products turned into the longest mass litigation in US history. According to a 2005 study by Rand, companies and insurers paid at least $70 billion to settle claims for injuries related to asbestos-containing products.

Issue of corporate bonds in the amount of 2 billion euros

On May 28, 2020, the chemical concern BASF placed bonds worth 2 billion euros. The volume of the first tranche amounted to 1 billion euros, the term of circulation of bonds will be 3 years with an annual coupon income of 0.101%. The securities will be used for general corporate financing. This became known on June 1, 2020.

2019

Wintershall DEA education

2018

Opening a plant in Finland and signing an agreement with Norilsk Nickel

On October 22, 2018, BASF announced the creation of a site for the production of battery materials for the European automotive market in Harjavalta (Finland). The company will be built next to the nickel-cobalt plant of PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel ( Norilsk Nickel). BASF and Norilsk Nickel signed a long-term agreement for the supply of nickel and cobalt raw materials, which is produced at the Norilsk Nickel refining plant. The terms of the agreement provide for reliable supplies from a local source of raw materials for the production of batteries in Europe.
