Divorce from Schneider Electric: how the electrical equipment business bought by Russians is developing

By the end of 2022, Systeme Electric (formerly Schneider Electric in Russia) expects a decrease in revenue by about 30% in rubles compared to 2021. About this at a meeting with the press on December 12, 2022, the general director of "System Electric" Alexey Kashaev said . And the company considers this a good result: if it were not for local production with its growth, then the drop in turnover could be about 50-55%.

In addition, the company expects that this year will be unprofitable for it, because there are a large number of issues, obligations that need to be closed by parting with Schneider Electric, and related costs. From the Schneider Electric report for the 1st quarter of 2022, it follows that the party buying its business in Russia has a receivable of 83 million euros to it, which must be paid by the end of 2023 HALF[1]. The latter at Systam Electric chose not to comment.

At the same time, in 2023, Systam Electric expects to profit again and direct funds from it for development, including its production and R&D. The company positively assesses the prospects of its business, including due to the fact that with the departure from Russia not only Schneider Electric, but also other foreign players, a certain vacuum has formed on the market, which must be filled.

A number of production assets that Schneider Electric had in Russia "(photo:" System Electric ")"

Schneider Electric, we recall, in 2022, against the background of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, left Russia, selling its Russian business to local leadership. As a result of the transaction, the Russian company System Electric appeared, the assets of which include enterprises previously owned by Schneider Electric. Among them:

  • Plant "Potential" in Kozmodemyansk (full-cycle plant, which presents all stages of design and production of electrical installation products. "Potential" produces every third outlet or switch sold in Russia);
  • plant "ElectroMonoblock" in Leningrad Region (produces and adapts electrical equipment of medium and low voltage, industrial automation equipment);
  • NTC "Mechanotronics" in St. Petersburg (produces an intelligent part for electrical substations).

Systam Electric also left the engineering and service center in Moscow and the Innovation Center in Innopolis. The latter focuses on software development .

In addition, System Electric continues to supply equipment under the DEKraft brand, which was originally aimed at Russia and the CIS countries. This is a brand of low-voltage equipment that is used in power supply systems for commercial and residential real estate, infrastructure and industry, energy and oil and gas industries. It supplies products from China.

The company conducts its main activities through Sistem Electric JSC (formerly Schneider Electric JSC) - this is a key selling legal entity, explained Alexey Kashaev. Taking into account the reduction in sales, the revenue of this legal entity in 2022, according to the company's expectations, will amount to about 28-29 billion rubles.

According to the general director, earlier about half of the company's turnover in Russia was accounted for by imports, and about 45% - by what is produced in Russia and does not depend on Schneider Electric. The independent part of the business from Schneider Electric this year grows by an average of 30% in rubles year-on-year, and in certain areas and 2 times, the data in the company.

The specified independent part of the business also includes the service. Systam Electric now provides services for servicing not only Schneider Electric equipment, the spare parts of which it managed to stock up on, but also other manufacturers, and also helps customers migrate from equipment of other vendors to their own.

Imports from Schneider Electric, starting in March 2022, have radically decreased - by 70-80% compared to 2021. Systam Electric's goal for 2023 is to return to 2021 positions based on financial results, including by replacing Schneider Electric products, which the company is no longer engaged in, but this is a serious challenge, because in 2021 Schneider Electric had record high revenue in recent years.

From the point of view of the nomenclature, the company this year has already found 70% alternatives to Schneider Electric products "dropped" from the Russian market, according to System Electric.

Nikolai Ladygin, First Deputy General Director for Power and Automation Markets, answering a TAdviser question, said that today, with varying degrees of localization, their company covers such areas as, for example, light signaling equipment (buttons, light bulbs), electric motor control, switching devices for electric motors, soft-start devices, frequency converters, and recently - low voltage switches (air and cast housing).

As for another business area of Schneider Electric - UPS (English Uninterruptible Power Supply, UPS) - general industrial UPS "System Electric" also already offers on the Russian market. More complex, with a "hot" replacement, plans to start offering from the 2nd quarter of 2023, and single-phase UPS - from the 1st quarter of 2023. They will be produced in China according to the SOW and design developed by Systam Electric. Cooling solutions should also appear in Q1 2023.

I must say that in general, products replaced by Schneider Electric, which were previously imported from abroad, also continue to be imported from abroad - System Electric is developing new product lines that are manufactured in friendly countries according to the company's TA. But gradually it is planned to localize these products.

File:Aquote1.png
We are already working on localization. There is a NTC "Mechanotronics," and on its basis all electronics will be localized, be it for UPS or for a circuit breaker, "Nikolai Ladygin said in a conversation with TAdviser.
File:Aquote2.png

It is also planned to expand the range of products of power devices manufactured at the ElectroMonoblock plant: for example, additional types of cells of varying degrees of localization will be produced there.

The term of its path to localize the production of electrical equipment at System Electric is estimated at about 5 years, without taking into account the most science-intensive areas.

The most complex technologies for replacing with products of its own production are "heavy automation": servo engineering, controllers for CNC. It can take decades to implement this in Russia. "Senior automation" is also a long history: for example, controllers for hundreds of thousands of signals.

Regarding the difference in prices of localized Systems Electric products from Schneider Electric products, the company explained to TAdviser that they would like to position their brand as "the only level of optimal quality in the expensive and high-tech segment." It is not planned to do something similar to Chinese products at the level of technical and economic characteristics, because it is very difficult to compete with China due to limited production volumes.

File:Aquote1.png
Our strategy is mainly to make highly science-intensive technological solutions in the field of electrical distribution, inspired by our experience and Schneider Electric technologies, says Nikolai Ladygin. - Therefore, the price will be close to the prices of Schneider Electric last year.
File:Aquote2.png

The company also plans to develop technological unions and partnerships. This also applies to interaction with large customers. So, for example, in 2023, System Electric expects to announce a new form of technological cooperation with Rosatom - the development of new products and solutions for the nuclear industry.

Having bought the Schneider Electric business, the Russians immediately created a domestic platform to replace its products

Systeme Electric (formerly Schneider Electric in Russia), after buying out its Russian business from Schneider Electric, retained several production sites and software development expertise . As of October 2022, the company created a Russian platform to replace a number of Schneider Electric software products, and brought it to the market under its own brand, and also outlined a plan for the further development of its own software solutions. This was told to TAdviser at Systam Electric in late October.

Schneider Electric, we recall, in early July signed a binding agreement on the sale of Schneider Electric in Russia to local management. JSC "System Electric," which was renamed JSC "Schneider Electric" after the transaction, is not indicated in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities. And Sistem Electric Group LLC, formed in June 2022, is 51% owned by Alexei Kashaev, who until recently was president of Schneider Electric in Russia and the CIS. He is now the general director of both Sistem Electric JSC and Sistem Electric Group of Companies.

9.8% of System Electric Group of Companies are owned by other former top managers of Schneider Electric in Russia and the CIS: Armen Badalov (was vice president for strategy, innovation and regional development), Dmitry Kurpekov (was vice president for HR), Nikolai Ladygin (was vice president for Projects through Partners and Digital Buildings and power), Elena Polozkova (was financial director) and Roman Shmakov (was vice president of Power division.

Using the Systeme Platform, you can replace the classic Schneider Electric software products used at Russian industrial enterprises and critical infrastructure facilities

One of the first products launched on the market is the Systeme Platform software complex, "completely Russian software" for automating industrial and civil facilities. It is an analogue of Aveva Platform (Schneider Electric has control at Aveva developer) and, according to System Electric, will allow customers to make a seamless transition from Aveva and Schneider Electric products.

Aveva products in Russia are used by many large enterprises. Open sources contain information about their use, including in companies such as Gazprom, Lukoil, VNIPIneft (part of Rosneft), Sibur, MMK, etc. In 2018, Aveva's CEO in Russia and the CIS, Alexei Lebedev, in an interview with TAdviser, argued that Aveva's decisions in companies such as Gazprom and Lukoil had nothing to replace.

With the help of Systeme Platform, they say in System Electric, you can replace the classic Schneider Electric software products used at Russian industrial enterprises and critical infrastructure facilities:

  • EcoStruxure Power Operation,
  • EcoStruxure Power Monitoring Expert,
  • EcoStruxure PME,
  • Vijeo Designer,
  • EcoStruxure Machine SCADA Expert,
  • Aveva Intouch,
  • Aveva Edge,
  • Aveva Plant SCADA,
  • EcoStruxure Geo SCADA Expert,
  • Aveva System Platform,
  • Aveva Historian,
  • EcoStruxure Building Operation.

The developer assures that Systeme Platform will allow enterprises to continue to effectively use previously installed foreign technical solutions, and at the same time quickly carry out full-fledged import substitution without stopping technical processes.

The company calls Systeme Platform "a domestic development created taking into account the peculiarities of the Russian market, on the basis of international expertise" of the System Electric team.

Such a quick appearance of an analogue of the platform raises questions about the origin of its code. The developers told TAdviser that Systeme Electric did not buy the rights to Aveva products, the platform was created by System Electric "in strategic cooperation with Russian IT companies using the best international practices and the accumulated experience of the Russian Schneider Electric team to develop and deploy classic Aveva software products."

File:Aquote1.png
In the context of restrictions on the purchase of foreign software, the main requirements of the market are the speed of development and the flexibility of the transition to domestic products. We are sure that today it is inappropriate to follow the path of development "from scratch," because many successful solutions have already been developed earlier. Therefore, it was decided to unite with Russian IT specialists, who are rightfully considered one of the best in the world, and use the accumulated international experience of our experts to launch a product on the market that is a worthy analogue of the usual foreign solutions, they say in "System Electric."
File:Aquote2.png

Which IT companies participated in the development of this product in addition to herself, Systam Electric chose not to disclose.

At the same time, the company completely retained the R&D team, engineers, developers and other employees who were involved in the development and installation of classic Aveva products. And in connection with the development of new products, it expands the team and strengthens it with new specialists in order to quickly develop and test new solutions with the help of its experts, System Electric told TAdviser.

As for plans to further develop their own software products, the company says that they primarily focused on localizing software products that can replace software in terms of process management, creating an upper level, SCADA systems that are in demand at industrial enterprises and critical infrastructure facilities, since this area is necessary for the uninterrupted operation of the Russian industrial sector.

File:Aquote1.png
We want to support our customers who today cannot buy the products of Aveva and other foreign vendors, - explain in "System Electric."
File:Aquote2.png

In addition, the company has identified a roadmap that includes the development of MES systems, visualization and reporting modules, software and hardware complexes for building BMS systems, as well as various services and Solution SaaS.

It is also planned to highlight the cybersecurity direction in order to ensure secure development cycles for Systeme Electric software products and implement complex tasks in accordance with the Security by Design concept and offer cyber-secure solutions to customers.

As for the equipment, after the buyout of the Russian business, Systam Electric remained such production assets of Schneider Electric as:

  • Plant "Potential" in Kozmodemyansk (full-cycle plant, which presents all stages of design and production of electrical installation products. "Potential" produces
  • every third outlet or switch sold in Russia);
  • plant "ElectroMonoblock" in Leningrad Region (produces and adapts electrical equipment of medium and low voltage, industrial automation equipment);
  • NTC "Mechanotronics" in St. Petersburg (produces an intelligent part for electrical substations).

The engineering and service center in Moscow and the Innovation Center in Innopolis also went to her .

Systam Electric continues to supply equipment under the DEKraft brand, which was previously part of Schneider Electric and was originally focused on Russia and the CIS countries. This is a brand of low-voltage equipment that is used in power supply systems for commercial and residential real estate, infrastructure and industry, energy and oil and gas industries.

Schneider Electric is 100% owned by SESh Holding, which, in turn, owns 100% of the electrical equipment plant GK Elektroshchit - TM Samara. It is bought by another company - Akron Industry. The deal to sell this plant in October was approved by President Vladimir Putin.

Systam Electric also told TAdviser that as of the end of October, they have a total of about 3 thousand people working in the company. About the same number worked at Schneider Electric in Russia.

Putin allowed the sale of the Samara Schneider Electric plant to a Russian investor

Akron Industry received permission to acquire 22.5 million shares of Samara SESh Holding JSC owned by Schneider Electric Industries SAS. About this on October 17, 2022 "" Interfax with reference to the corresponding order of the president. Russia Vladimir Putin More. here

Name change to Systeme Electric

On July 4, 2022, it became known about the renaming of the sold Schneider Electric division in Russia and Belarus. The company was named Systeme Electric.

As Alexey Kashaev, who was president of Schneider Electric in Russia and the CIS, told RBC, the plants "Potential" in Kozmodemyansk were transferred to Systeme Electric (produces sockets and switches), ElectroMonoblock in the Leningrad Region (SEZEM, produces and adapts medium and low voltage electrical equipment, industrial automation equipment to local requirements), St. Petersburg STC "Mechanotronics" (develops and produces the intellectual part for electric substations), as well as the Moscow Engineering and Service Center and the Kazan Innovation Center.

The sold Russian "daughter" Schneider Electric has acquired a new name

On July 3, 2022, a binding agreement was signed on the sale of Schneider Electric in Russia to local management. Closing the deal will depend on regulatory approval and meeting other conditions, Schneider Electric noted.

The amount of the transaction and its other terms are not specified. It is only known that the French the corporation sold the Russian business to local top managers. Based on market multipliers, which for companies like Schneider Electric make up one revenue, the value of Russian business can range from 25 billion to 40 billion, rubles investment strategist Sergei Arikapitala Suverov told RBC.

File:Aquote1.png
But, most likely, the company will be sold at a discount to the market valuation, since it was desirable for the seller to close the deal in a short time, he said.
File:Aquote2.png

According to Kashaev, Systeme Electric will continue local production and will service previously installed equipment as an authorized service provider, but will not be able to import Schneider Electric products.[2]

Sale of Russian business to local executives

On April 27, 2022, Schneider Electric announced the sale of Russian business to local leaders. The French energy and engineering company made this decision against the background of the special operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine and the subsequent sanctions.

File:Aquote1.png
After a thorough review of its structure and capabilities, Schneider Electric announces the signing of a letter of intent to sell Schneider Electric Russia to the local management team. This agreement must be approved by local authorities, - said in a statement published on the company's website.

It also says that the Russian market accounts for up to 2% of Schneider Electric's total revenue. The company, as a result of the sale of Russian assets and the curtailment of activities in the Russian Federation, plans to write off up to €300 million in net book value.

The company added that Schneider Electric is planning an orderly transfer process, in which the company will allocate the funds necessary to support 3,500 employees in Russia and Belarus.

Since February 24, 2022, Schneider Electric has suspended new investments and international supplies as part of new projects to Russia and Belarus, the company said in a statement released on April 27, 2022. A month earlier, Schneider Electric noted that the company invested more than $1 billion in production facilities in the Russian Federation.

By April 2022, Schneider Electric's assets in the Russian Federation, in particular, include the ElectroMonoblock plant in the Leningrad Region (produces low-voltage automatic devices, gas-insulated monoblocks, relay protection devices ), and Electroshield in Samara. The company also works at the innovation center in Innopolis and the innovation laboratory in Skolkovo. More than 60% of the products supplied by Schneider Electric to Russian customers were produced in Russia at the company's five own plants.[3]

File:Aquote1.png
It is no secret that in the era of "digitalization" the border between technological and corporate information environments disappears, exposing industrial assets to well-known cyber risks of targeted attacks and accidental infections in the "office" world. Despite the fact that the techniques for implementing cyber threats in these segments are very similar, it is possible to protect industrial systems in real projects only by deeply understanding both technologies and established practices used in the world of industrial automation. In this regard, cooperation between the three companies at the level of development centers is not accidental and seems to us promising.

One of the priority areas of Schneider Electric's activities in Russia is the development and implementation of complex solutions in the field of information security of automated control systems. Obviously, our customers - modern Russian enterprises - need such developments. The help of leading Russian experts in the field of information security on this path can hardly be overestimated.

Transneft abandoned Schneider Electric products

On December 5, 2017, it became known about Transneft's refusal to use Schneider Electric products. The company expressed dissatisfaction with the state of cybersecurity of its APCS.

The reason for this is the numerous vulnerabilities that threaten the company's cybersecurity. According to the statement of the representative of the customer company, in 2016 and 2017 the company conducted a risk analysis for its APCS. During the audit, numerous critical vulnerabilities were identified, including in the built-in APCS protection mechanisms. Specialists notified the manufacturer about the identified safety problems, but the contractor company was waiting for a response.

Opening of the R&D Center in Skolkovo

In November 2016, Schneider Electric announced the launch of a software R&D center at Skolkovo. The company signed with the Skolkovo Foundation an act on the start of the center's work and a program for its further development until 2019. Investments in the project amounted to about 1 million euros. The center was headed by Alexey Parshikov, head of the department for the development and implementation of solutions for smart networks of Schneider Electric in Russia and the CIS.

The center's activities are aimed primarily at creating and localizing software - dispatching, control and control systems - for the electric power industry and the oil and gas industry. The company notes that its well-known software product for managing electric networks will be localized in Russia with the transfer of source codes. Thus, Schneider Electric becomes a global energy company that transferred source codes to Russia and organized a full cycle of software creation, according to the Russian division.

Nikolai Grachev, Vice President of the Skolkovo Foundation, Executive Director of the Energy Efficient Technologies Cluster, and Armen Badalov, Vice President for Strategy and Business Development at Schneider Electric in Russia and the CIS
File:Aquote1.png
The opening of the R&D center in Russia on the basis of Skolkovo is an unprecedented step in the history of Schneider Electric. For the first time from the global R&D center, the company transferred the source code for the software to another country, "Alexey Parshikov told TAdviser. - Russia thus became for Schneider Electric the second point in the world where it became possible to develop a software product in full cycle mode - from creating a kernel to an interface. Until recently, the structure of the global R&D center was located in 2 countries: the main development center was in France, and the center for testing software products was in India.
File:Aquote2.png

The strategy of the R&D center Schneider Electric in Skolkovo provides for the localization of source codes and the launch of the development process of three main products. The first is the SCADA system for automated substation level power dispatching systems. The second product is a SCADA system for automated dispatch and prediction systems for solar and wind generation. The third is a software product that aims to predict the state of power and process equipment, followed by its maintenance by the state.

Long-term plans for the operation of the center are also related to the localization of infrastructure management systems for electric filling stations and control systems for distribution networks of city and country scale (such as ADMS). In one of the most important regions for Schneider Electric - the region of Northern, Western and Central Europe (which includes Russia) - until now there was no R&D center specializing in such products. The center will participate in the development and launch of solutions for countries in this region. Some developments of the Russian center will be introduced into the global release, and the developments of the global team will be introduced into the Russian one, which will keep up with global technological trends, the company says.

Schneider Electric added that with the advent of the R&D center in Skolkovo, the company's customers will have access to a quick service in terms of making changes to software products taking into account Russian specifics.

File:Aquote1.png
For example, the client sets a specific task - to introduce a new interface or analytics for top management, and we solve it in an understandable time and without language and cultural barriers. Previously, he would have had to wait quite a long time for a decision from the global center and not the fact that it would be positive. Now a fast and customer-oriented solution ensures greater customer satisfaction from our collaboration, "explains Parshikov.
File:Aquote2.png

At the time of launch, 5 software developers are working in the R&D center, and it is planned to expand the staff to 10 people.

Schneider Electric signed an agreement on the creation of a R&D center on the territory of Skolkovo back in 2013. The company told TAdviser that the R&D center project, conceived in 2013, changed over time and was eventually opened now.

Regional Application Development Center established

On November 10, 2015, Schneider Electric announced the creation of the Regional Application Center. The structure will deal with complex solutions for data centers, including the promotion of a proposal - a "turnkey data center" from one manufacturer.

As part of the proposal, the engineering infrastructure of the data center's machine room and the associated engineering systems of the complex.

The main task of the center is to create and support the sustainable and efficient functioning of the data center at every stage of its life cycle. Schneider Electric specialists will participate in the design, construction, complex testing and commissioning of the facility, as well as in the subsequent support and modernization of the data center. At each stage, the customer will be provided with fault tolerance of the object and its efficiency. The emergence of the Regional Application Development Center is part of Schneider Electric's long-term global strategy: not only Russian, but also foreign specialists will be involved in working on projects. In addition, specialists employed earlier only in Russian projects will be able to participate in all stages of major international projects, and foreign employees will be involved in solving problems in our country.

The internal reorganization should bring to Russia the technologies that Schneider Electric uses in the United States, Europe and other countries of the world. All regional centers will obey the global structure, but at the same time, many employees are on the ground: the company decided to combine the model of central competence management with the local distribution of specialists in order to be closer to the customer and better understand the features of the local market.

The division started working with customers at the beginning of the 4th quarter of 2015. 10 people are responsible for the CIS region. In Northern, Central and Eastern Europe, it is planned to use 100 specialists. The key segments that the Regional Application Development Center focuses on are telecom, the financial sector and commercial data centers. Andrei Vorobyov has been appointed Head of the Regional Application Development Center.

"In the Russian division of Schneider Electric, a similar structure existed earlier, but it was isolated from similar divisions in other countries. Now the resource of the Russian IT Business is becoming more significant and valuable within the company, so it was decided to create a new division, one of the main tasks of which is to unite regional teams. Thus, including people from different countries, the structure allows optimal use of resources where they will be most beneficial. By increasing efficiency, we reduce the cost of resources and, ultimately, reduce the cost of complex solutions for customers, "said Andrei Vorobyov, head of the Regional Application Development Center at Schneider Electric.

Purchase of 100% of Electric Shield Group of Companies

In March 2013, it became known that the French industrial group Schneider Electric, a manufacturer of equipment for data centers, acquired 50% of the company's shares from the management of the Samara manufacturer Electroshchit Group - TM Samara, thereby becoming the owner of 100% of the company.

The deal between Schneider Electric and the manufacturer of electrical equipment "Electric Shield" began in 2010, when the French bought the first 50% of the Samara enterprise for 10.2 billion rubles. The second half of the shares were purchased for the same amount. In total, the purchase of Elektroshchit cost Schneider Electric about 510 million euros[6].

As a result of the acquisition of the remaining stake in Electroshchit Group of Companies - TM Samara, the company is fully consolidated with Schneider Electric.

Interestingly, Schneider Electric reports on the increased number of its Russian staff after the acquisition of Elektroshchit to 12 thousand people. Considering that the staff of the Electric Shield itself is 10 thousand people, as a result of the purchase of Schneider Electric, it increased its staff in Russia six times.

In April 2013, it was announced that the production base of CJSC Elektroshchit Group of Companies - TM Samara is the largest production site throughout the Schneider Electric Group .

Schneider Electric plans in the next five years not only to maintain, but also to increase the level of investment in Russia. This was told by Schneider Electric President in Russia Jean-Louis Stasi at a press conference on the completion of the transaction to acquire a 100% stake in Electroshchit Group of Companies - TM Samara CJSC:

"Over the past five years, we have invested a total of about 700 million euros in the development of Schneider Electric in Russia, and over the next five years we plan to maintain this level of investment. We invest more than in Russia only in China, and it is significant that Russia has now come in second place in the Group after China among the BRICS countries. The acquisition of CJSC Electroshchit Group of Companies - TM Samara will allow us to offer new solutions and products for industrial consumers in the oil and gas and mining industries, utilities. In addition, we plan to use the image and business contacts of the newly acquired company to actively participate in the development of smart networks and increase the energy efficiency of the transmission and distribution power grid complex in Russia, "said Jean-Louis Stasi
.

He also noted that the completion of this transaction would be impossible without the support of the FAS and the Russian Government.

"We managed to quickly establish a constructive dialogue, understand the problem and make a quick decision that suited both the FAS and our company. It should also be noted that the Government and the FAS have an excellent attitude towards us as a foreign investor, which stimulates us to further investment in the Russian economy, "he concluded
.
"In the last three years, CJSC Electroshchit Group of Companies - TM Samara has annually invested over 20 million euros in the development of production, and in 2013-2014 we are going to increase the level of capital investments in these assets," said Power Joachim Dams (Joachim Dams). - We will support and train talented employees, develop research and development bases. Our goal is to provide Russian customers with equipment specially made for them, according to their terms of reference, taking into account local features. "

Schneider Electric also plans to preserve the social sphere of the village of Krasnaya Glinka, where the largest plant of CJSC Electroshchit GC - TM Samara, which employs over 7 thousand people, is located. The plant, together with the Electroshchit-Samara Management Company, will continue to finance the house of culture, a sports complex, a club of young technicians, a tourist base, housing and communal services enterprises that serve the communal fund of the village of Krasnaya Glinka in proportion to the number of employees at the enterprise. The existing social guarantees of the plant employees, spelled out in the collective agreement, will also be preserved.

The number of Schneider Electric employees in Russia is about 3,000 employees, the company has 3 factories, a research center and 3 logistics centers. The company's offices operate in 20 cities, it is planned to open a new R&D center in Skolkovo. The acquisition of 100% of the shares of CJSC Elektroshchit -TM Samara increased Schneider Electric's assets in Russia, replenishing them with 4 plants (3 in Russia and 1 in Uzbekistan), design institutes, commercial offices and almost 10,000 employees, making Russia and the CIS the second most important region in new economies (rapidly developing countries) and the fourth globally for the entire Schneider Electric group. Thanks to this transaction, Schneider Electric's annual turnover will increase according to the preliminary results of 2012 to ~ 1.2 billion euros.

Skolkovo R&D Center Opening Plan

File:Aquote1.png
Of all the countries of the world, it was in Russia that over the past five years our company has invested the most funds, "said Frederic Abbal, Executive Vice President, Head of the Business Unit of Power Electric. - Today the company in Russia is represented by 6 plants, 3 logistics centers and several dozen offices. But we intend to localize in Russia not only production, but also technologies. That is why we are creating an R&D center at Skolkovo.
File:Aquote2.png

Schneider Electric spokesman Ivan Kling told TAdviser that in Russia the company already has experience in the field of research and development: in particular, Schneider Electric has a scientific and technical center based on the Moscow office, which has several innovative developments in the field of new environmentally friendly materials and electrical equipment.

R&D is always the focus of Schneider Electric - the company globally spends 5% of annual turnover on research and development, which is more than a billion euros per year, notes Ivan Kling. He added that the company has high hopes for the R&D center in Skolkovo, which should begin work in 2016.

The official statement of Skolkovo says that the Schneider Electric research center should be located in the energy-efficient Skolkovo Eco-Office building. In it, the company plans to implement all its most advanced energy efficiency solutions, as well as the concept of integrated energy management.

Schneider Electric's solutions are expected to allow the Eco-Office to meet European standards for buildings with close to zero power consumption. The building is planned to be certified according to the international green construction standard LEED,

It is worth noting that, according to Skolkovo's original idea, the Eco-Office was supposed to be put into operation in the fall of 2013, but these plans did not come true: as of the beginning of December 2013, the necessary agreement for renting a land plot for an object had not even been signed yet, follows from the autumn reports of 2013 on the activities of the fund. The planned deadline for the commissioning of this facility is now October 2015. The reports say that this is due to the refusal to implement the project by its partner , Ru-com. Neither the latter nor Skolkovo explained the reasons for this.

2012:53% of the Russian UPS market
