Webiomed is a machine learning-based predictive analytics and risk management platform in healthcare.
2024: Launch of module allowing companies to obtain employee health data
A new digital platform has been developed and introduced in Russia, allowing employers to receive impersonal data on the state of health of employees. This became known on June 23, 2024. The innovative system is designed to optimize corporate health programs and improve the effectiveness of measures to protect staff health.
According to RIA Novosti, the developer of the new predictive analytics module was Webiomed, a participant in the National Technology Initiative (NTI) Helsnet. The system provides information on the distribution of employees by risk groups, risk factors and forecasts of health development in the context of structural divisions and places of work.
In Russia,The software works on the basis of digital patient twins created from electronic health record data. This information includes not only health records, but also social, domestic and occupational data of employees.
All data provided to employers is completely impersonal. The management of companies only gets access to generalized statistics, for example, by workshops or departments, without the possibility of identifying specific employees.
The new system allows health services and HR managers to more effectively identify risks associated with employee health. This, in turn, contributes to optimizing the costs of the enterprise for the protection of staff health.
For example, if an employer sees that many employees have high cholesterol, he can adjust the range of dishes in the dining room and thus help his employees adjust their health, - explained in the NTI. |
According to representatives of the development company, the introduction of this system will bring corporate health programs to the personal level. This makes it possible to select individual responses for workers, including additional preventive treatment, personalized insurance programs and in-depth medical examination.[1]

MedBaseGear Integration Plan
The company K-Skye"" (developer of the forecast analytics platform Webiomed) and the publishing group GEOTAR-media"" (developer of the reference and information system MedBaseGeotar"") entered into a cooperation and joint promotion agreement. This was announced K-Skye by "" on December 4, 2023.
The key direction of the digital transformation of healthcare for December 2023 is the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and medical decision support systems (SPTD). SPTD methods significantly unload a physician in big data analysis, including electronic medical records and digital images, freeing up time to communicate with the patient and sparing the physician from the routine processing of accumulated data, which modern AI technologies often cope with much better than humans. At the same time, one of the trends in the development of SPTD is not only the ability of AI to interpret the data, but the provision of quick, convenient - and most importantly personalized access to professionally selected and validated medical knowledge.
In this regard, K-Sky and the GEOTAR-Media publishing group agreed to integrate the MedBaseGeotar reference information system into SPPVR Webiomed, which includes about 200 thousand units of specialized medical content, including current clinical recommendations, information about medicines, leading world translation publications for doctors and other medical literature.
Our reference and information system will help doctors to be sure of the correctness of the diagnosis, to deal with a complex case, to prescribe the optimal treatment of the patient. I am sure that MedBaseGeotar will become a reliable assistant in the work of our doctors, which means that our patients will receive high-quality care, - said the rector of the Higher School of Healthcare Organization and Management (VSHUZ), Doctor of Medical Sciences Guzel Ulumbekova. |
Built-in and context-sensitive intelligent access to specialized knowledge directly from the Webiomed SPTA interface will allow the physician to quickly obtain all necessary reference information about diseases, risk factors and patient conditions in the context of medical terms, clinical recommendations, reference data on symptoms and syndromes, medicines, etc.
A doctor who has access to a squeeze selected with the help of artificial intelligence from a huge base of high-quality medical knowledge right at the reception will certainly be able to more effectively help his patients. In modern conditions, when our expectations from the level of medical care are so high, and the burden on doctors is so strong, it can be crucial for the really real and mass use of SPVR in Russian practice, "said Alexander Gusev, director of development at Webiomed. |

Recognition of Webiomed as a medical device
On April 22, 2020, Skolkovo the "" foundation announced that Roszdravnadzor registered the Webiomed medical decision-making support system as a medical product. This is the first with, software product artificial intelligence passed technical and clinical trials and received permission to use the Russian in hospitals and clinics. The Webiomed system was developed by a resident of the Skolkovo Foundation by the Group of Companies.K-Skye
The main focus of Webiomed is predictive analytics and disease risk management. The Medical Decision Support System (SPMS) takes the effectiveness of disease prevention and diagnosis to a new level. The software (software) is trained to analyze various medical data of the patient, identify risk factors, and form medical forecasts.
Registration of our Webiomed product as a medical device is the result of the systematic and well-coordinated work of the entire project team, including a large number of pilot project partners and doctors who helped us in every possible way with advice, criticism and the desire to make a solid and useful tool. We have been very much looking forward to this event and can be proud of the excellent result. We are now preparing to attract substantial investment to focus our efforts on the development and promotion of Webiomed implementation projects in practical healthcare, - says Roman Novitsky, CEO of K-Sky |
The work of the system is based on its own comprehensive methodology for determining the risks of the development of diseases and their complications. For this, models based on machine learning and several auxiliary algorithms based on clinical recommendations and risk assessment scales are used:
- Prediction of individual probability of developing cardiovascular disease based on machine learning;
- Prediction of individual probability of death from coronary heart disease and stroke based on machine learning.
The Webiomed system is designed to be embedded in medical information systems and other healthcare management software products. It eliminates the need for a doctor to manually search for information in electronic records and gives a ready-made assessment of the risks of diseases, such as: the total risk of atherosclerosis and its complications, the risk of thromboembolic complications in heart rhythm disorders, the risk of cardiac arrest in hospitalized patients, the severity of community-acquired pneumonia, etc. Based on these assessments, the system forms recommendations for the treatment of the patient.
Systems for supporting medical decision-making are indispensable medical assistants, in fact, security systems for health care, a kind of autopilot. SPMS are in no case reference books, which are referred to if necessary. On the contrary, they work in the background, scan medical data and draw the attention of the doctor to patients with a high risk of stroke, with signs of cancer on computed tomography, with prescribing errors. - says Sergei Morozov, MD, Director of the Scientific and Practical Clinical Center for Diagnostics and Telemedicine Technologies, Professor, Department of Radiation Diagnostics and Radiation Therapy, Moscow State Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov |
The Skolkovo Foundation pays great attention to supporting participants who create industry products based on big data and artificial intelligence. The long-awaited registration certificate for Webiomed not only confirmed the quality and reliability of the solution. It opened up the opportunity for Russian doctors to use artificial intelligence in working with patients, and for developers of systems to support medical solutions - new horizons in the use of key digital technologies in healthcare, - says Yulia Shcheglova, project manager of the Skolkovo Foundation Biomedical Technology Cluster |
Opening free access to the Webiomed pneumonia severity assessment system
On April 3, 2020, Skolkovo the Foundation "" announced that the company K-Skye"," a resident biomedical of the Skolkovo Foundation Technology Cluster, provided free access medical to information system developers and medical organizations to the predictive analytics and risk management platform based on artificial intelligence Webiomed.
The Webiomed system is designed to analyze impersonal medical data in order to identify risk factors and make forecasts of the development of various diseases.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, it is vital to timely diagnosis and determine further medical actions: whether the patient needs hospitalization, whether he can be in a regular ward or needs resuscitation. To solve this important issue, about twenty patient health indicators are used, combined into several scales of pneumonia severity. Some scales use a small number of indicators and are less accurate, but easy to use, others contain more signs of severity of pneumonia, more accurate, but difficult to use. In practice, the doctor does not always have the opportunity to use a more suitable and accurate scale for determining the tactics of managing patients in pneumonia, not to mention the simultaneous use of several risk assessment methods at once.
To help doctors make decisions, the developers of Webiomed have combined the possibilities of using the most common methods in the world to assess the severity of this disease. On the one hand, the Webiomed system allows you to assess all the necessary indicators of pneumonia severity, on the other hand, those that are minimally needed to make a tactical decision. By optimizing this process, the doctor can quickly and more accurately make the necessary diagnosis and prescribe treatment.
We consider it extremely important to provide physicians and health care organizers with a tool that allows for individual and population-based prognosis of disease development, including based on an assessment of the prevalence of risk factors and high-risk patients. - says Alexander Gusev, Development Director of K-Sky |
Opening access to any developers of medical information systems and doctors to the capabilities of Webiomed, our resident, K-Sky, is trying to support Russian health care and improve the quality of care provided to patients who find themselves in a difficult life situation during the COVID-19 pandemic. - says Yulia Shcheglova, project manager of the Skolkovo Foundation Biomedical Technology Cluster |
According to information for April 2020, K-Sky is also developing an algorithm for detecting symptoms and risk factors for pneumonia or death from COVID-19.
2018
Integration with the Medarchiv platform
Integrated Medical Information Systems (K-MIS) and Amediko (creator of the Medarkhiv platform) on October 23, 2018 announced the signing of an agreement on cooperation and joint promotion of digital health projects. Within the framework of the agreement, integration of software products for automation of healthcare K-MIS and the Medarkhiv remote monitoring platform will be carried out. The first goal is to integrate the Webiomed medical decision support system developed by K-MIS into the Medarchiv mobile applications used by patients and doctors during remote monitoring. Read more here.
The capabilities and operating principle of Webiomed
Webiomed is a physician decision support system (SPDD) to identify risk factors and suspicions of various diseases in patients. The operation of the system is based on the automated assessment of a variety of health indicators, including the analysis of data from electronic medical records (EMR).
Webiomed services can be embedded in any medical information systems and software for healthcare, applications to support a healthy lifestyle, telemedicine, etc.
Opportunities (as of October 2018):
- Automatic analysis of medical data, including electronic medical records
- Identification of risk factors for the development of diseases, risk stratification of patients
- Formation of an individual forecast of the onset of fatal and non-fatal complications of diseases by various nosologies
- Making recommendations on patient management tactics based on generally accepted clinical recommendations, medical standards and evidence-based medicine
- Population Analysis and Forecasts
- Facilitating clinical research and the search for unknown dependencies in electronic health data
As of October 2018, Webiomed is able to analyze the patient's medical data and identify risk factors for the development of various diseases, making a forecast of the possible onset of complications or death of the patient with the assignment of a risk group.
These capabilities allow the doctor to get a tip while taking the patient. The system is able to carry out an automatic population health assessment and thereby identify patients at high risk.
Thus, webiomed is designed to help reduce the number of deaths, advanced diseases or complications from them by identifying patients at the earliest possible stage of the disease.
Principle of operation
Artificial intelligence Webiomed helps doctors establish which of the healthy people is likely to develop certain diseases and their complications. To do this, the system uses depersonified data of the patient's electronic medical record and tries to identify signs of the development of various diseases in them. If risk factors are identified, the system generates an individual forecast of complications of the patient's health and assigns him an appropriate risk group. Based on this assessment, recommendations for examination and treatment tactics are formed for healthcare professionals and patients.
At its core, the work of the system consists in supporting the adoption of medical decisions at the stage of preventive work of the health care system. According to the developers of the system, such analysis and identification of groups of people with a potentially high risk of disease is very important for health care, since new interdependencies are found in the data, which can be used for preventive interventions and more verified prevention measures, including the use of the latest diagnostics and treatments.
Starting the Webiomed project
The project was launched in 2018 at the personal expense of its founders - Roman Novitsky and Alexander Gusev. About 20 million rubles were spent on the development of the first version of the product, its clinical trials and pilot testing.
