Import of servers and DSS to Russia increased by 15% over the year

In 2023, about 126 thousand foreign servers and about 35 thousand data storage systems (DSS) of foreign production were imported into Russia, which is 10-15% more compared to the previous year. Compared to 2021, server imports increased by 1%, DSS - decreased by 1%. Such data on April 24, 2024 leads the newspaper "Kommersant" with reference to the source, which, in turn, refers to customs statistics. Read more here.

The Russian server and DSS repair services market has grown 5 times

In 2023, the volume of the Russian market for repair of components for servers and storage systems (DSS) increased fivefold compared to the previous year. This is due to the formed geopolitical situation, which provoked the departure of foreign suppliers from the Russian Federation and, as a result, a shortage of equipment. This was announced on February 13, 2024 by industry participants.

Russia The most in demand is the repair of motherboards, controllers, power supplies, hard drives, tape drives and other components for enterprise-class equipment. Products,,,, etc. are required Mellanox Nvidia HPE Supermicro. At the same time, there are either no new components on the Russian market, or they are sold at an inflated price. Delivery takes a lot of time, which creates problems in terms of server and DSS operation.

The volume of the Russian market for repair of components for servers and storage systems (DSS) has grown fivefold compared to the previous year

According to the Kommersant newspaper, referring to information received from market participants, the lack of guarantees from foreign manufacturers in the Russian Federation contributes to the increase in demand for repair services. In such a situation, suppliers are forced to either pay additional VAT and transportation of equipment to other countries where there is official support from the developer, or independently carry out repairs within the country.

Alexander Mukhortov, head of the Treolan corporate class solutions department, cites another reason for the sharp increase in the demand for repair services. The fact is that recovering equipment from failures or failure of individual components is much cheaper than completely replacing equipment. Fplus Service (part of the Fplus IT holding) adds that Russia has problems with the availability of components for the equipment that was supplied before the imposition of sanctions.

In general, Mikhail Sizov, managing partner of Mobius Technologies (engaged in IT infrastructure service), believes that by the end of 2024 the market for computer repair services for the corporate sector in the Russian Federation will be estimated at "billions of rubles."[1]

Delta Computers presented trends in the development of the corporate server market in Russia

On September 11, 2023, Delta Computers presented trends in the development of the corporate server market in Russia and the forecast for 2023-2024. According to Delta Computers experts, 2023 has become a period of stabilization and recovery for the server equipment market, however, it is too early to talk about reaching the previous volumes.

If until 2022 the products of foreign vendors dominated the Russian market, in 2022 the situation completely changed: foreign manufacturers abruptly curtailed their activities, the phenomenon of parallel imports arose. The volume of server purchases fell by about 2 times year-on-year - due to the limited supply and freezing of many IT projects. At the same time, due to the continued demand from state customers and the growing interest in domestic products, some Russian vendors were able to increase sales several times.

File:Aquote1.png
As of September 2023, about half of the server equipment sold in the country was produced in Russia. And yet, the market is likely to be a slump in 2023. Many companies have revised budgets and are shifting the necessary spending to 2024, for example, closing only burning needs in 2023. However, in 2024, we expect that the volume of purchases of Russian-made servers will grow at least 1.5 times - in particular, due to the implementation of deferred budgets and the need to fulfill the mandatory import substitution program by 2025 for many customers, - said Maxim Tereshchenko, head of the Delta Computers project management department.
File:Aquote2.png

Trends in the development of the corporate server market in Russia:

  1. Paradigm shift. More and more customers are interested in the topic of import substitution of servers and are beginning to understand that there are domestic products that are not inferior to world counterparts. Distrust, which previously did not allow the use of Russian equipment in large-scale and complex systems, is gradually disappearing.
  2. Chance. due to the fact that foreign manufacturers stopped sales and technical support of server solutions, Russian vendors had a chance to expand their offer and significantly strengthen their market position.
  3. PAC everything head. Increasingly, choice is falling on complex solutions. If customers previously primarily purchased hardware, software, virtualization layer and operating system layer separately, now more companies are moving to HSC (hardware-software complexes), in fact, a single window system where the supplier is responsible for the entire solution.

Russian manufacturers of server equipment at this stage have many advantages and opportunities for growth, in particular, in the aspects of expanding the ecosystem and increasing productivity, which allows us to hope for an early recovery of the market.

Ministry of Industry and Trade asked to ban parallel import of servers

ANO Consortium "Computing Technology" (ANO VT;, YadroAquarius"," Kraftway etc.) proposed To the Ministry of Industry and Trade to exclude from the list of equipment subject to parallel import, servers and other equipment,,, HPE Acer PureStorage Basler,,,,,,, and Asus MSI Delta Electronics Palit Palo Alto Schneider Quanta Electric. This became known in early June 2023.

According to Kommersant"," Ministry of Economics they want to limit the parallel import into the country of products of brands,, IBM,, Dell,, NetAppPure Storage Fujitsu HP xFusion,,,,,,,, Inspur Cisco Hitachi Quanta Arista Delta Electronics Oracle Supermicro.

Consortium "Computing Technology" proposed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to ban parallel import of servers

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Vasily Shpak told the newspaper that the Ministry of Industry and Trade "is waiting for more specifically formulated proposals," the initiative is being discussed. The Ministry of Digital Development notes that it is possible to consider the issue of blocking parallel imports of certain products only if its production is established in Russia.

The representative of the Russian computer manufacturer "Aquarius" admitted that it is impossible to completely stop parallel imports, but "it is necessary to introduce more precise regulation, limiting support for the import of equipment, the production of which is actively developing in the country."

Distributors and buyers oppose the drastic moves. "Reducing the list of parallel imports can lead to a shortage and increase in the cost of equipment," said Anton Guskov, a representative of RATEK (it includes M.Video-Eldorado, Citylink, Huawei). According to Pavel Kulakov, founder of the data center and cloud provider Oxygen, restricting the supply of foreign computing equipment will slow down the development of some areas of the IT industries, including the financial sector and cloud platforms.

The server market in Russia contracted by more than 50% despite the explosive growth in demand for Russian equipment

Experts from the domestic IT manufacturer DataRu assessed the development of the server market in 2022. Despite the explosive growth in demand for Russian equipment, this IT segment decreased by more than 50%. The market will return to pre-crisis indicators not earlier than 2025. The company announced this on February 8, 2023.

Foreign manufacturers of server equipment have finally left Russia. If in the spring many experts expected that Chinese hardware vendors would enter the domestic market en masse, by the end of the year it became clear that the calculation was incorrect. There were serious problems with the purchase of equipment from Huawei and Lenovo. The segment, where foreign manufacturers historically dominated, fell uncontrollably - in money and the number of units of production, it has decreased by more than half over the past year.

Server hardware is a basic, critical infrastructure. Therefore, all businesses felt the deficit, but especially large companies: banks, retailers, industrial enterprises. In early 2022, they were freezing new projects and were engaged in maintaining the stability of existing infrastructure. The public sector also faced difficulties: many state customers could not spend the planned budgets for IT.

In parallel, companies were looking for ways to access equipment from familiar brands. Parallel import schemes have been launched, but problems have arisen with products imported in this way: lack of guarantee, constant difficulties with payments and unpredictable delivery times. In the fall of 2022, the demand for server equipment, which was already in use, also quadrupled. to data Forbes

Against this background, interest in Russian production has increased. At the end of the year, the share of domestic companies in the Russian server equipment market increased from 15% to more than 50%. However, such companies also had difficulties: most of the components of IT equipment are produced abroad, and there are no Russian analogues to replace them. As a result, domestic manufacturers, like IT distributors, faced a violation of supply chains, tightening the terms of agreements with suppliers, refusals of sending banks and refunds from receiving banks. They had to build new logistics schemes - this led to additional costs and cost a lot of effort.

File:Aquote1.png
At the beginning of 2023, supply chains for the production of equipment became more predictable. Yes, there are interruptions, there may be delays, but in general the process has begun, and the production of equipment is improving. In my opinion, no earlier than 2025, the market will again reach 2021 volumes. At the same time, the dominant position will be taken by Russian manufacturers, which will multiply increase production volumes and finally replace foreign vendor products and the remaining parallel imports, - said Roman Gotz, General Director of DataRu.
File:Aquote2.png

Also, it is predicted in DataRu, by 2024 the segment for the development of software and hardware systems (PAKs) will significantly grow - at least 25-30%. Russian server equipment is not yet compatible with all software solutions, and the creation of complementary products is a key area for the development of the segment for the next few years.

In Russia, the demand for used server equipment has grown 4 times

In early October 2022, it became known about a surge in demand for used (used, then repaired) server equipment Russia after the largest foreign manufacturers left the market, including, and HPE, Dell against the Cisco background of a military special operation on. RUSSIAN FEDERATION To Ukraine

As Forbes was told in ServerMall, sales of used servers from March to August 2022 tripled year-on-year, and in September - quadrupled year-on-year. ServerMall sells servers from HP, Dell and Lenovo brands. Previously, she was a certified partner of Dell, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Lenovo and Cisco. Now the companies have almost completely sold off warehouse balances, including illiquid hardware - models of HPE and Dell servers, which were more than 10 years old.

Demand for used server equipment in Russia has grown

In the Ittelo store, server sales in March-July 2022 increased by 280% in monetary terms. The general director of the company Igor Ilyin notes that "domestic companies had to look for new ways to obtain equipment."

Шаблон:Quote "Official sales channels collapsed: Western vendors left, abandoning obligations under already concluded contracts, supply chains were violated among large distributors, so domestic companies had to look for new ways to obtain equipment," he said. the Russian The company began to spend significantly more money on old equipment. The average check increased from 500 thousand rubles to 5 million rubles. Market participants fear that it will soon be impossible to buy domestic servers running on Baikal and "processors: Elbrus their production in Taiwan has been stopped, and the accumulated reserves are running out. At the same time, prices for such equipment since the beginning of the year have soared by 30-50%, according to the publication of the publication.[3]

50% increase in server prices

In September 2022, the cost of domestic servers and data storage systems (DSS) in Russia increased by 30-50% compared to 8 months ago - before the start of the Russian military special operation in Ukraine. At the same time, the delivery time of equipment from large manufacturers has greatly increased and reaches several months. Vedomosti wrote about this on September 26, 2022, citing Dmitry Isaev, director of Softline's cloud solutions department.

A number of other companies participating in the market confirmed to the publication the rise in price of servers and an increase in the timing of shipments. At the peak of turbulence, in March-April 2022, prices for top-end server models from Russian manufacturers showed an increase of up to 10 times, says Dmitry Isaev. According to him, by the end of September 2022, the situation had stabilized. At the same time, the cost of Russian equipment has been "quite high" before, as a result of which the companies preferred Western and Chinese manufacturers for the development of cloud solutions, he added.

Russian servers and DSS have risen in price by 50% since the beginning of the year

It is noted that the cost of server equipment has increased at least due to the fact that prices for imported components, on the basis of which domestic solutions are assembled, have also increased. In addition, vendors have increased logistics costs. According to industry representatives, a new wave of price increases for components and transportation is expected in the near future, which will also lead to an increase in the cost of finished equipment.

The timing, according to industry representatives, reflected the large volumes of government orders that loaded assembly lines - now they are not enough. The supply of finished products was also affected by the complicated logistics mentioned above.

A representative of the press service FAS at the request of the publication replied that by the end of September 2022, the department had not received any complaints about the rise in equipment prices.[4]

Instead of Dell and Cisco - Gooxi and DCN. Chinese manufacturers of servers and network equipment poured into the Russian market

Against the background of the departure from Russia of the largest Western manufacturers of computer equipment and network equipment for the corporate segment, Asian manufacturers are increasingly entering the arena. And those of them, whose products were previously present in the country one way or another, are now increasing their presence here. Read more here.

Import of servers to Russia decreased by 5 times

The import of servers into Russia in the second quarter of 2022 decreased by 4-5 times. Vedomosti wrote about this at the end of August 2022, citing a source close to one of the major Russian distributors. Another informant of the publication in another distributor operating in the Russian Federation confirmed a sharp reduction in imports of equipment and said that the total cost of imported servers from February to June (we are still talking about 2022) decreased by 73%.

According to the newspaper, at the beginning of the second quarter of 2022, server imports in the Russian Federation grew sharply, but at the end of the period they did not approach the pre-crisis indicators. In February, the cost of imported servers was $190-200 million, in March it fell by half. In April, the volume of supplies exceeded $300 million, surpassing pre-crisis indicators, he added. By June, the volume of imports, he said, had decreased fourfold.

Import of servers to Russia decreased by 5 times

However, in July, he won back the fall and returned to the March indicator of $75-90 million - thus, the growth in relation to the July indicators by June amounted to about 30-40%, the source told the newspaper. According to him, a similar trend continues throughout the ICT equipment market.

The general director of Infoline Analytics, Mikhail Burmistrov, told the publication that in April 2022, volumes were partially delivered to Russia that were not delivered in March; associated with this is a surge. In addition, the companies tried to "jump on the last train" and make supplies, he added.

At the end of June 2022, the head of the Ministry of Digital Science Maksut Shadayev stated that Russian IT companies are experiencing problems with shipping foreign final IT equipment to the country, including servers, data storage systems and base stations. However, according to the department, "components intended for the assembly of IT equipment within the Russian Federation are delivered, but in difficult logistics."[5]

In the next six months, a shortage of servers and hardware for them may form in Russia

In Russia, in the coming months, there may be a shortage of server equipment and components for it, writes Forbes, citing sources in an unnamed system integrator, as well as a source close to the manufacturer of server equipment. According to analysts, they may become a deficit very soon - the next three to six months. Representatives of the Lanit-Integration system integrator also confirmed the information about the possible shortage. This became known on March 15, 2022.

The reason for the shortage is known - these are numerous anti-Russian sanctions that became the result of a special operation initiated at the end of February 2022 in the DPR and LPR. In particular, we are talking about American sanctions, as a result of which Intel and AMD, among others, stopped supplying their processors to Russia, including server ones. Dell, one of the server vendors, has also turned its back on Russia.

According to the publication, the lack of servers and electronics for them will be felt by many Russian spheres of activity. It will be the financial sector, state-owned companies, various industrial enterprises. Even retailers will be hooked, since all modern IT infrastructure is built on servers.

Svetlana Appolonova, Chairman of the Council of the Association of Manufacturers of Electronic Equipment and Devices, also drew attention to the problem. She told Forbes that the lack of servers "will hit absolutely all companies in technological areas" due to the fact that this equipment "is responsible for storing, processing and transferring data."

According to experts interviewed by Forbes, the danger of a shortage arose not only because of AMD and Intel that left Russia. These are the largest developers (and Intel is also a manufacturer) of CPUs for desktop PCs and servers in the world, but in Russia there are companies working in this direction.

In particular, the company Baikal Electronics"" back in October received the first batch of user CPUs, and Baikal-M then server ones. Baikal-S However, they were produced at the plant the Taiwan of the company, TSMC which in March 2022 refused to cooperate with Russian companies, thereby supporting the the American sanctions. As a result, there is nowhere to produce Russian processors yet - there are no necessary capacities in Russia yet.

At the same time, there is still hope for China. This opinion is shared by Svetlana Appolonova, noting that this country has not joined the "sanctions" states. According to her forecasts, in the near future, Chinese iron manufacturers will soon enter the Russian market.

But there's a little snag here. Chinese equipment, a source in an unnamed system integrator told the publication, "may be technically incompatible with existing American IT systems." According to him, it may take some time to get out of this situation.

Due to the fact that there is no production of components in Russia, the failure of available components can lead to sad consequences against the background of import restrictions and a rapid rise in prices.

Ivan Pokrovsky, Executive Director of the Association of Russian Developers and Electronics Manufacturers, sees a solution to this problem in the transition to "independent supply channels." According to Forbes, we are talking about unauthorized suppliers from countries that have not joined anti-Russian sanctions. If contracts are signed, then such companies will be able to supply both the servers themselves and the components for them. Other sources of the publication confirmed that the "gray import" mentioned by Pokrovsky could indeed save the situation. They also said that as early as March 2022, a number of companies had established deliveries of servers and hardware through Armenia, Kazakhstan and Serbia[6].

Analysts did not disclose the balance of power among manufacturers on the Russian market at the end of 2020 and only provided data for the fourth quarter. In October-December, Dell Technologies became the leader in the segment of servers of standard (x86) architecture, both in terms of the number of equipment delivered and in terms of volume in monetary terms. Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Huawei took second and third positions in terms of volumes in monetary terms, respectively.

Spending by government organizations and investment by large companies, especially in the financial and telecommunications sectors, most actively stimulated the growth of sales of servers with x86 processor architecture.

RISC systems accounted for 11.2% of the Russian server market in monetary terms. Analysts called Yadro the largest manufacturer of such equipment and gave it a market share of 78.6%. The growth driver of this segment is traditionally a large corporate sector, the study says.

A consortium of computer manufacturers has been created in Russia

On April 9, 2020, Yadro informed TAdviser that leading Russian companies, developers and manufacturers of computer technology announced the creation of the ANO Consortium Computing Technology (ANO VT) with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The corporate segment continued to invest in infrastructure development. There was a steady demand for high-performance systems. Large companies of almost all industries continue to invest both in the modernization of infrastructure and in the implementation of modern services. The growth of the market in both quantitative and monetary terms is a confirmation of this, }}

As a result of all 2019, the server hardware market grew by 7.6%, reaching $1.035 billion.

31,890 servers (-10.2%) delivered for $226.63 million (-6.2%) in the second quarter

According to IDC EMEA the results of the Quarterly Server Tracker study, in the second quarter of 2019 Russian market , 31,890 servers of all types were delivered for a total amount of $226.63 million. Compared to the same period in 2018, the number of delivered servers decreased by 10.2% and was accompanied by a decrease in the volume of deliveries in monetary terms by 6.2%, the IDC reported on September 13, 2019.

Quarterly deliveries of servers of the standard x86 architecture amounted to 99.2% in quantitative and 89.9% in monetary terms. The RISC systems segment saw an increase in supplies. Thus, in monetary terms, this segment grew by 33.3% compared to the same period last year.

At the end of the quarter, Hewlett Packard Enterprise took the leading position in the delivered server solutions of the standard x86 architecture. Despite the general decrease in the volume of supplies, a number of vendors showed positive growth rates. The combined share of the five largest suppliers amounted to 75.3% of all shipped servers of the standard x86 architecture. As a quarter earlier, ODM manufacturers entered the top five suppliers in both quantitative and monetary terms.

File:Aquote1.png
Despite the fact that the market showed negative dynamics compared to the same period last year, we saw an increase in supplies from a number of international vendors. Among them are Dell Technologies and Lenovo. ODM suppliers also showed growth, meeting the demand from large cloud service providers, - said Mikhail Lebedev, manager of the corporate systems market research program, IDC in Russia and the CIS. - Against the background of the general decline, the segment of small and medium-sized businesses showed positive dynamics in terms of investments in server equipment.

2018: 132.2 thousand servers delivered (+ 29.6%) for $770 million (+ 42.7%)

In 2017, 132,223 servers of all types were delivered to the Russian market for a total amount of $770.2 million. Such data are provided by the analytical company IDC in its report IDC EMEA Quarterly Server Tracker, released in March 2018. According to analysts, for the 2017 calendar year, the server market in Russia grew by 29.6% in quantitative and 42.7% in monetary terms.

The Russian server market grew by almost 50% in money Photo servernews.ru

According to Mikhail Popov, senior analyst at IDC for corporate systems, the results of the year indicate the ongoing recovery of the Russian server market, which was first recorded by IDC in the first half of 2017 after more than 4 years of decline.

File:Aquote1.png
The economic situation has previously severely limited the ability of customers to update and increase their own server fleet. The development of cloud services and the growth of the data center market also contributed to a change in customer preferences. The economic advantages of third-party leased solutions made it possible to cope with an increase in the volume of data and an increase in the need for computing power for a large number of customers, the expert concluded.
File:Aquote2.png

Accordingly, in the fourth quarter of 2017, the Russian market received 38,076 servers of all types with a total value of $258.82 million. Compared to the same period in 2016, the number of delivered servers increased by 24.3%, and the volume of deliveries in monetary terms increased by 47.6%. At the same time, the servers of the standard x86 architecture accounted for 99.8% of the market in quantitative and 89.7% in monetary terms.

According to the quarter results, Hewlett Packard Enterprise took the leading position in terms of the number of server solutions delivered to Russia. The combined share of the five largest suppliers amounted to 70.7% of all shipped servers. ODM suppliers were not among the top five suppliers in the quarter.

Meanwhile, the share of deliveries of domestic solutions in unit terms slightly increased in the fourth quarter of 2017, amounting to slightly more than 33.4% (against 32% for the same period of the previous year).

2017: Return to growth in the 1st half of the year: 59 thousand units (+ 29%) by $318.3 million (+ 32 %)

On September 27, 2017, IDC analysts reported the first growth of the Russian server market in more than four years. The share of domestic vendors is increasing.

In the first half of 2017, 59,655 servers of all types arrived on the Russian market, which is 29% more than in the same period of the previous year. In money, there was a rise of almost 32% to $318.3 million.

IDC senior analyst for corporate systems Mikhail Popov says the Russian server market has returned to growth in real and monetary terms after four and a half years of supply decline. According to the expert, the worst times for the market are likely to have passed, given the plans of large customers and the pace of construction of infrastructure facilities.

Russian server market resumed growth after 4-year decline
File:Aquote1.png
We have previously seen numerous customers prefer to increase utilization of existing capacity with virtualization solutions or prefer to use third-party infrastructure. Now the accumulated tasks, updated server components and current economic and non-market conditions seem to push customers to start thoughtful investments in updating and expanding the server fleet, Popov said.
File:Aquote2.png

According to IDC data for January-June 2017, Hewlett Packard Enterprise is the leader in the Russian server market. The five largest manufacturers accounted for 64.3% of equipment supplies, and the share of Russian vendors increased to 34.8% from 34% in the first half of 2016.

In the segment of servers with a processor architecture other than x86, IBM has dominated for five years. In January-June 2017, shipments of such equipment reached 100 million units in the amount of $25.8 million, which is 45.1% and 5.2% less than a year ago, respectively. Thus, the servers of the x86 architecture accounted for 99.8% of the market in quantitative terms and 91.8% in monetary terms.

Sales drop to 12 years ago to $531.3 million (-20.1%)

On April 13, 2017, the analytical company IDC published brief results of a study of the Russian server market. Its volume was the lowest in many years.

According to experts, in 2016 102,033  servers were delivered to Russia, which is 4.5% less than in 2015. In monetary terms, the market fell 20.1% to $531.3 million.

Data center equipped with servers

IDC senior analyst for corporate systems Mikhail Popov notes that the results of the Russian server market in 2016 were the most modest over the past 12 years in monetary terms and over the past 6 years in units, exceeding the results of only 2004 and 2009, respectively.

File:Aquote1.png
The decline in server infrastructure delivery has been driven by significant advances in cloud services and virtualization technologies across services, enabling customers to significantly reduce their own infrastructure investment and increasingly shift to third-party resources that benefit from specialization and service-scale savings. Against the background of the modest economic capabilities of customers, the transition to the latest technologies in the production of RAM components and storage solutions has very limited the ability of manufacturers to offer affordable products and systems. The development of the data center market also added doubts to customers about the feasibility of serious investments in their own infrastructure. On the other hand, manufacturers' plans to bring more productive solutions to the market and the emerging consumption of accumulated capacity from customers form the basis for positive expectations from market development next year, Popov said.
File:Aquote2.png

The IDC study also says that in 2016, the average cost of servers on x86 and RISC architectures decreased by 7.4% and 16.8%, respectively, which analysts attribute to the customer's focus on systems of moderate capabilities of the small and medium price segment.

Q2

On September 30, 2016, IDC analysts published new results of the EMEA Quarterly Server Tracker summary, which, among other things, reflects the state of affairs in the Russian server market. The share of domestic vendors decreased by 19%.

Experts calculated that in the second quarter of 2016, 27,923 servers were delivered to Russia in the amount of $140.24 million, which is 13.8% and 14.6% more than a year ago, respectively. Most of the volume was occupied by systems on the standard x86 architecture - 98.8% of shipments in pieces and 85.9% in money.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise remains the leader in the Russian server market

Historically, quantitative deliveries of the second quarter depend on prudent investments in the new financial year and are not characterized by significant quantities, says Mikhail Popov, senior analyst at IDC for corporate systems. - Most customers have adapted perfectly to modern economic conditions and are currently making very well-considered point investments in the most necessary infrastructure with a clear understanding of the economic basis for the commissioning of new high-performance equipment.

According to IDC, in April-June 2016, Hewlett Packard Enterprise remained the largest server manufacturer on the Russian market. The five leading vendors received a joint share of 62.2% in quantitative terms.

Experts draw attention to the fact that ODM companies resumed shipments and returned to the Top 5 largest suppliers in the Russian Federation in the second quarter of 2016. Due to ODM competitors, the share of products of Russian manufacturers in the domestic market in just three months decreased from 32.6% to 26.5% (in pieces).

In their study, analysts also noted an almost 108 percent supply of Dell servers due to the reform of the channel sales structure.

Companies that could not or did not want to change the sales strategy and work with sales channels to meet the modern conditions of the activities of partners and customers, while they observe a decrease in supplies and a decrease in demand for their products, "Mikhail Popov emphasized.

Q1

In June 2016, IDC analysts published the results of a study of the Russian server market. Sales of this equipment fell to the level of seven years ago.

Experts estimated that in January-March 2016, 18,330 servers were imported into Russia, which is 38.8% less than a year earlier. In money, the decline turned out to be even stronger - by 48% to $87.02 million. The market rolled back to the values noted in 2009, said Mikhail Popov, senior analyst at IDC for corporate systems.

The Russian server market fell to the level of 2009

Hardware on the x86 processor architecture took 99.8% of server shipments in pieces and 92.1% in money in the first three months of 2016. The share of domestic decisions in physical terms increased to 35.3% against 33% in the fourth quarter of 2015.

File:Aquote1.png
Traditionally, after the closure of financial years, the first calendar months do not differ in large supplies. So it happened this time too. Thus, today we can talk about the return of the server market to the usual seasonality of supplies, which has been observed for 15 years, excluding the history of the last two years, when significant deliveries of equipment to large data centers were carried out in the first quarter, - said Mikhail Popov.
File:Aquote2.png

He also added that the market situation may improve in 2016 if the previously discussed initiatives are implemented in the field of significant expansion of the capacities of existing data centers and the deployment of new data centers for large financial and government organizations.

According to IDC research, Hewlett Packard Enterprise became the largest server manufacturer on the Russian market in the first quarter. The top five accounted for two-thirds of the market. ODM manufacturers did not make noticeable deliveries in the reporting period, so they were not among the five largest suppliers, analysts said.

2015: 106,000 servers delivered (-25%) for $669 million (-27%)

On March 30, 2016, IDC analysts published the results of a study of the Russian server market. Its volume was the smallest in the previous five years due to economic problems in the country.

At the end of 2015, experts counted 106,749 servers delivered to the Russian market, which is 25.4% less than a year ago. Revenue fell 27.8% to $669 million. In the fourth quarter, the market fell 20.9% in units and 17.6% in monetary terms compared to the same period in 2014.

In 2015, the Russian server market showed the worst volume in the last 5 years
File:Aquote1.png
The results of the year allow us to talk about 2015 as the worst year in the Russian server market over the past 5 years. The economic situation has greatly limited the capabilities and desires of customers to increase their own server fleet. The excess capacity of existing server systems allowed customers to postpone the expansion of their own server infrastructure, "said Mikhail Popov, IDC senior analyst for corporate systems.
File:Aquote2.png

In 2015, the average cost of servers using the x86 processor architecture decreased by 5.1% in Russia. At the same time, RISC solutions on average went up by almost a quarter.

While users of servers of the standard architecture needed available configurations and were limited in budgets, customers of RISC servers were forced to increase the cost of updating their infrastructure and buying expensive performance systems based on flash memory, experts explain.

IDC did not name the leading server manufacturers in Russia at the end of 2015. In the fourth quarter, according to analysts, Hewlett Packard Enterprise led, and the top five vendors gained control of 78% of the market. Solutions of domestic suppliers accounted for 33% of deliveries in the last three months of 2015. A year earlier, this figure exceeded 34%.

2014

Deliveries of servers of all types and platforms decreased by 5.6% - 143 thousand units in literal terms, according to the results of 2014. In financial terms, the market showed growth of 2.4% and reached $926 million. During the year, there was an increase in the supply of Unix servers - by 9.4% in unit terms and 21.6% in monetary terms.

The increased risks of strengthening political sanctions and the worsening economic situation prompted consumers Unix to hurry up to update and expand the fleet of established solutions, analysts say. Unlike IDC servers of traditional architecture, the issue of import substitution of equipment of this type is far from simple solutions, since replacing software systems presents significant difficulties.

Russian manufacturing companies have delivered almost 42% of the total supply to the server market.

Top five server market leaders in 2014:

These companies provided more than 70% of the total server market in units. Chinese manufacturers - A.I.C., Gigabyte, Huawei, Inspur and Lenovo showed the greatest growth in this indicator.

For the server market, 2014 turned out to be very busy, experts noted: ODM deliveries at the beginning of the year, economic sanctions, import substitution issues, currency throws and an increase in Unix server deliveries at the end of the year did not allow leading market participants to relax. The development of cloud services and the growing popularity of data center services will contribute to the development of the server market in 2015.

Q4

The server market of the Russian Federation in the fourth quarter of 2014 decreased by 2.6%, to 36,660 units. The market volume in monetary terms increased by 6.2%, to almost $278.17 million. HP, DEPO Computers (Depot Electronics) and Dell led the top three in the quarter - they control more than 65% of the supply. IDC noted that more than a third of the total supply was provided by Russian companies.

Q3

In the third quarter of 2014, 33,383 servers were delivered to Russia with a total value of $222.26 million, IDC said in its quarterly study.

Compared to the third quarter of 2013, the volume of deliveries in unit terms decreased by 7.9%, and in monetary terms increased by 3.9%.

Five leading suppliers in the quarter: HP, DEPO Computers (Depot Electronics), IBM, Aquarius and Dell. Domestic manufacturers represent a share of 37% of the total number of servers delivered to the market.

Analysts of the research company noted the increasing interest in Russia of suppliers of technological solutions from China and Southeast Asia. Increased supply on their part and increasing competition can lead to a decrease in the average cost of systems, which can contribute to the revival of the market.

Q1

According to a study by IDC Russia Quarterly Server Tracker, according to the results of the first quarter of 2014, it follows that 38,273 servers were delivered to Russia with a total value of $194.48 million - an increase in supply volume of 3.3%, a drop in monetary terms of 6.9%, compared to the first quarter of 2013.

IBM dropped out of the top five in terms of supply, which IDC noted as a significant change in the market situation, while the vendor remained among the leaders in terms of revenue. HP and DEPO Computers (Depot Electronics) retained their positions.

Despite significant changes in the competitive environment, Russian server manufacturers retained 42% of the quarterly supply market occupied a year earlier.

According to Mikhail Popov, senior analyst at IDC, it is difficult to expect an increase in supplies in the commercial segment of the market, against the background of a decrease in business activity in January-February 2014, fluctuations in the exchange rate, increased investment risks, changes in tender legislation. The growth in the first quarter of 2014 was due to the development of Russian Internet companies, their demand for servers of standard rack architecture.

2013

According to IDC research, in 2013 the server market in Russia decreased by 9.9% compared to 2012, in supplies - 145,233 units. The market volume in monetary terms decreased by 29.3% to $890.1 million.

In 2013, the ratio of the number of products on the x86 platform to other solutions of the server architecture changed - a year ago, the volume of x86 deliveries amounted to 74.3%, in 2013 - 83.6% of the total number of delivered servers.

The largest decrease in supplies in monetary terms was shown by the servers of the highest price segment - the reduction at the end of the year was 56.3%. The mid-level and entry-level server segments demonstrate similar dynamics - 39.6% and 18.3%, respectively.

Fourth Quarter

In the fourth quarter of 2013, 40,550 servers were delivered to Russia with a total supply of $268.2 million.

The number of rack servers delivered has slightly increased. The bulk of the supply of these systems is focused on the emerging data center market.

According to analysts, IDC the lack of growth in the server market is due to the country's modest economic success in 2013. A decrease in overall business activity and a low average level of use of computing power of installed systems contributed to the formation of deferred demand for new ones. Given servers the forecasts of economic development, the evolution of software solutions, the emergence of new server platforms and the aging of the fleet of operating systems, Russia a slight increase should be expected in the server market in 2014.

Q3

The Russian server market in the third quarter of 2013 grew by 32.9% compared to the previous quarter of this year, IDC said in a periodic study by Russia Quarterly Server Tracker. The growth of market indicators is noted, both in piece and in monetary terms.

The total number of standard architecture servers implemented is 41261 units. The revenue of vendors amounted to $178.9 million, an increase of 32.9% compared to the second quarter of this year.

Comparing the results with the data for the third quarter of 2012, analysts concluded that the market is stagnating: the volume of supplies increased by 0.1%, and the revenue of manufacturers decreased by 5%.

The market for other (not x86) server architectures continues to fall. In monetary terms, its reduction reached 47.5%, compared to 2012. The decline is noted in all segments. Sales of RISC systems decreased by almost 43%, in the mainframe segment the fall approached 95%.

HP and IBM are leading in monetary terms in terms of the supply of servers of the standard architecture. They hold more than half of the market, but the share of other suppliers continues to show growth. In unit terms, DEPO Computers (Depot Electronics) is in second place.

IDC noted an increase in customer interest in small manufacturer solutions, despite budget cuts. The aggregate unit performance of such companies increased by tens of percent. Market drivers are still the development of cloud technologies and services. Deliveries to ISP and DPC segments show no decline.

The first quarter confirmed negative market sentiment

A study by IDC Quarterly Server Tracker of the Russian server market in the first quarter of 2013 confirmed the continuation of negative dynamics, both in monetary and piece terms. An assessment of the prospects for this market at the beginning of 2012 showed: the most likely medium-term scenario is moderately negative. The development of events in the next 12 months excludes doubts.

In the first quarter of 2013, 32,415 x86 servers were sold, which is 28.9% less than a quarter earlier. Delivery volumes in the first quarter tend to lag far behind the fourth, when many customers "budgets are summed up and finished. Nevertheless, the dynamics of changes in this indicator in annual terms demonstrates a drop of 17.3% and the point is not in the seasonal factor. The revenue of x86 server manufacturers fell to $150 million, which is 16.3% less than a year earlier.

The market for other server architectures also contracted: in monetary terms, by 36.7% compared to last year. This time, the decline was noted in all segments: sales of RISC systems fell by almost 25%, and in the mainframe segment the fall was close to 70%.

More than 9 thousand servers were delivered to the ISP segment (service providers Internet), but they could not keep the x86 server market from falling due to a noticeable deterioration in the situation in most sectors of the Russian economy.

HP and IBM are leading in terms of revenue in the standard architecture server market - more than 50% of the market. Analysts noted the second place of DEPO Computers (Depot Electronics) in the ranking of piece deliveries. This is partly due to the desire of customers to switch to more affordable solutions in the context of budget cuts, according to IDC.

"Experts' assessments regarding the prospects for the Russian economy over the past six months have been repeatedly revised in the direction of deterioration," said Alexander Zagnetko, head of the Corporate Systems research program. - The IT market is now under pressure not only from economic factors, but also from purely administrative ones. Recent initiatives in the field of Internet regulation and the growing complexity of doing business in Russia create a nervous situation on the market. New investments, especially in long-term projects, are practically not carried out. An exception, with some reservations, is the public sector, especially when it comes to large-scale infrastructure projects. "

2012

Fourth quarter: Negative momentum

During the quarter, according to IDC research, 45,470 servers of standard architecture were sold, which is 10.4% more than in the third quarter of 2012, but in annual terms equates to a 13.6% decline. The revenue of vendors is $235 million, which is 6.5% less than in the fourth quarter of 2011.

The server market of other architectures shows multidirectional dynamics:

  • in the mainframe segment (CISC architectures), year-end growth was 72%,
  • RISC systems rolled back 6.6%,
  • EPIC server shipments fell more than 40% (mainframe share about 2% of the total server market).

Market leaders: IBM and HP. These companies, in total, account for more than 70% of deliveries in monetary terms. The revenue of most vendors decreased compared to the previous year, but Dell and Oracle managed to strengthen their position.

"Analyzing the results of 2012, we can conclude that the server market in Russia has largely exhausted the potential for further growth," said Alexander Zagnetko, head of the Corporate Systems research program. - Of course, purely technological factors, such as virtualization and hardware consolidation, as well as cloud technologies, also put pressure on this segment. However, in Russia there is a serious shortage of server solutions in a number of industries, and therefore the main reason for the reduction in supplies should be considered the economic and administrative problems of the country. "

Third quarter: Weak growth as solvent demand declines

In the third quarter of 2012, the Russian server market announced a negative direction of development, primarily in monetary terms. The IDC study notes a decline, both in comparison with the second quarter of 2012 and with the third quarter of 2011: enterprises bought 4,1220 servers of standard architecture - this is 21% more than in the previous quarter, but the annual increase is only 3.7%, while the revenue of vendors amounted to $188 million. (2 sq. - $185 million)

Serious decline in the RISC, EPIC and CISC platform server market. Annual revenue of manufacturers of equipment of this type decreased by 14.5%. At the same time, supplies of EPIC servers increased in quarterly terms - about 47.5%.

In general, the situation on the Russian server market is not easy. There are signs of overstocking of warehouses, there is uncertainty about the structure and amount of funding for IT costs from a number of key customers, there is not enough money for the purchase of server equipment in many segments. And if in the third quarter significant support to the market was provided by large supplies to enterprises related to the business on the Internet (servers of the standard architecture), then, according to the head of the research program "Corporate Systems" Alexander Zagnetko, by the end of 2012 this segment will continue to purchase new solutions in large volumes,... " however, new government initiatives to regulate and restrict the use of the Internet may cast doubt on the prospects for the development of this industry. "

Q2: Russian Server Market Under Threat

According to the quarterly IDC survey, in the second quarter of 2012, the Russian server market was stagnating, but showed positive dynamics in annual terms.

A total of 34,130 standard architecture servers were sold. This is 12% less than a quarter earlier and equivalent to an increase of only 2.5% in annual terms. Nevertheless, the revenue of manufacturers amounted to $185 million, which corresponds to an increase of 23.4% compared to the same period in 2011.

In the market of other servers, even taking into account a noticeable reduction in deliveries in unit terms, the completion of several large projects related to the introduction of RISC servers led to the fact that the revenue of suppliers increased to $83 million - 2.2% more than in the second quarter of last year.

In the second quarter, negative trends prevailed in the Russian server market and the players received most of the revenue due to the completion of long-term projects. Customers, against the background of a significant decline in oil futures and the depreciation of the ruble, postponed and frozen transactions related to the development of IT infrastructure, especially in the x86 server segment. Equipment procurement cycles suffered significantly in May and June.

The transition of some major international players to a new procedure for importing and registering equipment affected the final cost of servers for consumers, which put additional pressure on the market.

"Some server hardware deliveries have been moved from the first half of the year to the second. This was facilitated by both economic factors and a shortage of certain configurations due to technological reasons, "explained Alexander Zagnetko, IDC analyst. The second quarter of 2012 once again demonstrated the instability of the Russian market, and the number of threats to its further development over the past few months has only increased, the expert added.

Q1: 23.6% growth. HDD deficit persists

According to IDC, in the first quarter of 2012, the Russian server market declined slightly taking into account the seasonal factor compared to the previous quarter, but showed positive dynamics in annual terms.

A total of 38,700 standard architecture servers were sold. The revenue of manufacturers amounted to $176 million, which corresponds to an increase of 23.6% compared to the same period in 2011.

In the market of other servers - against the background of a decrease in deliveries in unit terms - the revenue of suppliers also increased to $49 million - by 7.7% more than in the first quarter of 2011.

To a certain extent, the market dynamics are affected by the deficit, HDD especially noticeable in the segment of entry-level solutions. In this regard, some players expect that by the end of 2012 there may be a deferred demand for such servers. At the same time, a kind of polarization is noticeable in the supply structure of server equipment: customers are interested in budget solutions and expensive systems, while mid-range equipment is less in demand.

Customer priorities are also changing with regard to the hardware of the infrastructure. It is no longer a starting point in determining the IT strategy, which is reflected in the increased demand for converged solutions that combine servers, DSS, and communication systems. Accordingly, virtualization is no longer considered as a technology focused only on the server segment. It should be noted that both the share of equipment deliveries to virtualized environments and the density of virtual servers are steadily increasing.

"If you look at the dynamics of the development of the Russian server market since 2010, it may seem that in our country it has a completely cloudless future," says Alexander Zagnetko, head of the Corporate Systems research program. - Compared to the first quarter of 2010, the server market almost doubled in monetary terms. However, one should approach the interpretation of this fact with caution. The state of the Russian economy causes more and more serious concerns, and therefore the extrapolation of the emerging trend for the long term will be incorrect. "

2011

Q4

According to a quarterly study by IDC Russia Quarterly Server Tracker, 52.7 thousand servers of standard architecture were sold in Russia in the fourth quarter of 2011. Manufacturers' revenue amounted to $250 million, which corresponds to an increase of 26.4% compared to the same period in 2010.

In the other server market, sales of RISC systems continued to grow, while the share of EPIC architecture decreased. In general, the segment of "heavy" servers showed positive dynamics. The revenue of manufacturers amounted to $95 million - 30% more than a year earlier.

Mainly due to deliveries to the public sector, the share of Russian suppliers of standard architecture servers has noticeably increased. However, there is no need to talk about a new trend - most of the projects in this segment were somehow related to the elections, according to IDC materials.

2011 as a whole turned out to be very successful for equipment manufacturers, analysts of this company say. In monetary terms, the x86 server segment grew by 45%; shipments of other server systems increased by 20%. Due to the limitations of IT budgets and due to the improvement of the technological base, instead of "heavy" servers, customers are increasingly using servers of a standard architecture when performing resource-intensive tasks.

RISC systems will become the main catalyst for the heavy server market in 2012, but the combined share of UNIX architectures will continue to decline. It is noteworthy that the HPC segment is increasingly using GPU solutions.

The demand for low-cost servers of standard architecture will grow in the Russian market, which is due not only to the popularity of these solutions in the small and medium-sized business segment, but also to the construction of large data centers (primarily commercial ones), which use simple hardware platforms of the same type.

IDC expert Alexander Zagnetko noted that in 2011 the long-term trend in the development of the Russian server market recovered. "Analyzing the dynamics of this market, it is easy to make sure that the consequences of the crisis no longer affect it, but there are no more factors contributing to further rapid sales growth - such as pent-up demand."

Q3

TAdviser asked the largest IT companies to comment on the latest data on the state of the Russian server market. Recall that the company recently IDC released a corresponding report for the third quarter of 2011.

According to him, the Russian server market has grown in relation to the same period last year. 39,600 servers of standard architecture were sold. This is 19% more than a quarter earlier and corresponds to an increase of 21% in annual terms. The revenue of manufacturers amounted to $180 million.

The most exciting question for everyone is whether the Russian server market will continue to grow and, most importantly, how much. Integrators give moderate forecasts. Thus, "'Andrey Vakatov'" the deputy director of Technoserv the "Integrator Engineering Center" believes that growth will continue. At the same time, Technoserv expects an increase in revenue from server sales at the level of 20% in 2011 by 2010.

Roman Zeibot, Deputy General Director of CROC, says that if there is growth, then insignificant. "The looming breath of crisis and the threat of uncertainty will hold back investment in technology and slow down a number of projects. Do not forget about the upcoming elections in our country, as a rule, the "elected" year does not show growth, "he says. In 2010, server sales accounted for approximately 20.7% of CROC's total turnover.

At the same time, Technoserv says that there are prospects for growth not only in the commercial sectors of the market, but also in the state. The growth of the state segment is primarily associated with the development of an electronic interdepartmental turnover document, as well as a national program for the development of electronic public services to the population. The CROK believes that demand will continue in the banking sector, in insurance, in retail and also in government agencies.

And according to forecasts Treolan (the new brand LANIT Distribution""), the largest growth will be in the segment of inexpensive servers. There will also be growth in the segment of complex solutions for building a cloud infrastructure, but not individual ones will be supplied, but servers solutions that will include both servers and the DSS corresponding ones, ON the company's experts say.

Undoubtedly, the driver of the server market growth is the rapid growth of the Russian data center market. Internal data centers will be in demand in industries operating in the V2S segment: retail banks and insurance companies, telecoms, retail, where the personalization of sets of products and services provided to the end user can give an increase in the customer base and a significant increase in profitability. External data centers are operators of state data centers for electronic public services and telecom operators, which historically are the main owners of commercial data centers in Russia, explained in Technoserv.

In general, system integrators deny that the implementation of cloud solutions negatively affects sales of physical servers. So far, the share of cloud solutions in the market is not so large, and IT departments have many other tasks for processing large amounts of data, for which new equipment is needed. In addition, a number of cloud solutions and virtualization projects still require hardware platform upgrades.

Russian integrators also do not admit that they may be out of work due to the growth of independence of suppliers: it happens that enterprises cooperate directly with equipment manufacturers, bypassing integrators as an intermediate link. So, Andrey Vakatov says that in a number of complex complex projects, on which the business of the enterprise directly depends, cooperation with the integrator gives IT services additional guarantees.

If we talk about the complete refusal of the integrator's services, then such a risk is possible, "but not in the next few years," Roman Zeibot believes. "A lot depends on vendors, at the moment they are not ready to take on such volumes. If we are talking about working with several strategically important customers, then there are vendors who are already working with them directly, for example, Oracle, "he explained.

Q2

According to a quarterly study by IDC Russia Quarterly Server Tracker, 33.95 thousand servers of standard architecture were sold in Russia in the second quarter of 2011. This is 7.9% more than a quarter earlier, and corresponds to an increase of 25.3% in annual terms. Manufacturers' revenue reached $141.5 million.

Several large-scale projects caused "impressive growth" in the segment of "heavy" servers, the report said. In the second quarter of 2011, equipment was sold for $81.5 million, which is 80% more than in the previous quarter. Compared to the second quarter of 2010, the growth was 45%. A number of large customers have delivered a large number of IBM mainframes and Superdome 2 HP systems.

International players have strengthened their position in the Russian market. The second quarter was especially successful for IBM. In terms of total revenue from server deliveries, this company accounted for more than a third of the Russian market, which corresponds to an increase of 6% compared to the previous quarter. In total, HP and IBM control almost 80% of the Russian server market in monetary terms.

It is also noted that the share of solutions intended for operation in specialized ecosystems is increasing in supplies to the Russian market. This trend affects, in particular, the segment of commercial data centers, which continues to grow, both at the level of commissioned areas and in the number of racks sold to customers.

Several international players are going to strengthen their presence in the Russian market at once. Hitachi Data Systems announced its intention to promote its blade systems Acer in Russia, while it unveiled ambitious plans to dramatically increase market share at the expense of domestic collectors. The beginning of deliveries of complex solutions to commercial consumers is also noteworthy. Oracle Exadata

2010

Q3

According to a quarterly study by IDC Russia Quarterly Server Tracker, positive dynamics remained in the Russian server market in the third quarter of 2010. 32,720 standard architecture servers were sold. This is 20% more than a quarter earlier and corresponds to an increase of more than 55% in annual terms. Manufacturers' revenue exceeded $132 million.

Noticeable growth was also noted in the segment of "heavy" servers. In the third quarter of 2010, equipment was sold by almost $65 million, which is 35% more than in the previous quarter and means an increase in deliveries by almost 80% on an annualized basis.

The leaders of the Russian market in terms of revenue in both classes of server equipment remain HP and. IBM More than half of the entire market in monetary terms is HP's share. At the end IBM of the quarter in second place, it accounts for just under a quarter of all server sales.

Vendor efforts to promote cross-platform solutions with a common management system that allows both standard architecture servers and non-x86 solutions (including blade form factor machines) to be combined on a single chassis have affected market dynamics. Together with the advent of IT budgets for a number of traditional Russian consumers of infrastructure solutions, the technological and marketing programs of leading players met the most optimistic expectations.

Server deliveries to projects related to the creation of HPC systems are also growing.

Q1 2010

According to a quarterly study by IDC Russia Quarterly Server Tracker, in the first quarter of 2010, the Russian server market remained positive, taking into account the seasonal factor.

20,700 standard architecture servers were sold. This is 46% less than a quarter earlier and corresponds to an increase of 90% in annual terms. Manufacturers' revenue exceeded $93 million.

A certain increase was noted in the segment of "heavy" servers. In the first quarter of 2010, equipment was sold by $34 million, which is 37% less than in the previous quarter and, nevertheless, means an increase in sales by almost 10% year-on-year.

HP and IBM are still the leaders of the Russian market in terms of manufacturers' revenue in both classes of server equipment. The first company accounts for more than 48% of sales, IBM's share is 28.7%.

There is a continuing trend in which virtualization-enabled solutions are becoming more widespread, with more consumers preferring x86 servers when designing their infrastructure, including in the blade form factor. IDC also notes a decline in prices for EPIC architecture servers. Over the past six months, hi-end machines of this architecture have more than doubled in price. The cost of a server in the initial EPIC segment decreased by an average of 20%.

2009: HP is the market leader with 38% share

2008:18% sales growth

The Russian server systems market largely repeats the trends of the global market, however, due to the fact that it is quite far from saturation, the growth rate is significantly ahead of the world and amounts to about 15-20% annually. So, in 2008, market growth reached about 18%. The demand for server solutions in the Russian market is primarily due to the fact that the current infrastructure of many companies cannot cope with the new load. In some cases, we are talking about the need to replace outdated equipment that is no longer subject to warranty maintenance, and use the technologies of a new generation of servers.

The most notable trend in 2008 was the rapid increase in demand for server solutions from small and medium-sized enterprises and at the same time a slight reduction in orders from large companies. Frustrated by the impossibility of sharply increasing sales to large enterprises, market leaders are increasingly paying attention to the SMB sector. In particular, at IBM, the turn to small and medium-sized businesses has become a categorical requirement for all divisions offering software, hardware and services.

In 2008, the Russian server equipment market continued to grow steadily, but against the background of very controversial processes. So, unlike the developed Asian segments, as well as the United States and Europe, it still remains somewhat lopsided and conservative. Nevertheless, in terms of structure, the domestic sector has come close to European standards - the tendency to switch from Russian equipment to equipment of leading world manufacturers is obvious.

In 2008, there was an obvious change in priorities in the Russian market. If in 2007 there was parity between brand-free manufacturers and brands, then in 2008 large companies seized the advantage. According to ITResearch, in the server segment, the first five manufacturers of this class of equipment (in alphabetical order - Aquarius, Depot, HP, IBM and Craftway) control 72.7% of sales in physical terms.

This distribution is quite consistent with the established European market. Nevertheless, the financial crisis gave impetus to the development of small enterprises, which will undoubtedly increase the total sales of this sector, analysts say.
