2022: Opening of the first state esports school

In July 2022, Russia opened the first state e-sports school. It is located in Novosibirsk, according to the official Telegram channel of the Novosibirsk region.

The classrooms were equipped with modern personal computers with the equipment necessary for games, game chairs and computer accessories. Esports players are trained by certified esports coaches in several areas, including physical training, learning the basics of computer literacy, and an in-depth understanding of computer gaming disciplines.

The Directorate of the institution said that by the time of opening, dozens of students had already signed up for classes who could choose one of the popular disciplines. A full set has already been opened by the Dota 2 and League of Legends sections.

The new training unit is located on the basis of the Novosibirsk school of the Olympic reserve in rifle sports. The eSports School is available to teenagers from the age of 12. To get to school, you need to undergo preliminary testing and show good game results.

According to a survey by the online university Skypro, a third of parents in Russia do not consider e-sports a serious, highly profitable and promising profession for their child. This answer was given by 30.4% of the study participants. At the same time, more than half of Russians (58.2%) admitted that they treat gamers and computer games neutrally.[1]
