Hospital plastic surgeon gets 3.5 years in prison for accidentally puncturing patient's lung
On June 15, 2021, the Meshchansky Court of Moscow sentenced plastic surgeon Sergei Morozov to 3.5 years in a general regime colony for an accidental puncture of a lung patient. Woman's death during plastic surgery due to anaesthetic poisoning
As it became known on April 7, 2021, a criminal case was opened in the Moscow region after the death of a woman during plastic surgery. She died due to anesthesia.
According to the investigation, on March 4, 2021, in Lukhovitsy near Moscow, a 51-year-old woman turned to a beauty salon for the provision of cosmetic services for lifting her face. In the process of providing this service, an employee of a beauty salon introduced an anesthetic drug into the parotid region, which caused an epilepsy attack on the victim.
According to Moskovsky Komsomolets, the procedure was carried out by a surgeon who travels to this beauty salon if necessary. Before the procedure, the doctor asked the woman about her well-being and allergy to drugs, but she replied that everything was fine.
Despite the first aid provided by the ambulance team, the woman died. The husband of the deceased told the doctors that all the way his wife felt bad, she was sick and vomiting. And video surveillance cameras recorded that before entering the salon, the client looked at her mouth with some green liquid.
The clinic staff was informed that this was the patient's second procedure, about a year ago she was also given a lift, and then everything went fine. The deceased worked as an insurance agent. She is survived by her husband, who works as a loader driver, and two children.
Investigators conducted forensic, forensic and chemical examinations and received a medical record of the deceased. According to the medical examiner, the death was due to anesthetic poisoning. The territorial body of Roszdravnadzor announced its own audit on this case.
A criminal case was opened under the article "Causing death by negligence" (part 1 of article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). It provides for up to two years in prison.[1][2]
