In mid-May 2024, it became known that the software for the Unified State Exam is being transferred from Windows to Russian Linux operating systems. Test delivery on domestic software will be held in the Leningrad, Murmansk and Vladimir regions, Komi, Mordovia and Sevastopol.
The fact that Rosobrnadzor with the controlled Federal Testing Center (FCT) and Russian software companies, they began to test software for the delivery of a single state examination, adapted for domestic OS, reported "" Kommersant with reference to its source. The FTC confirmed to the newspaper that at some points of the exam, you can pass the exam in mathematics on a Russian OS based on Linux.
For 2025, additional improvements are planned for the software for the USE in informatics and foreign languages at the AWS equipped with a domestic development OS, the FTC said. |
Rosobrnadzor said that work on adapting software for the USE with Russian OS has been underway since 2023. The agency carried out large-scale work with the constituent entities of the Russian Federation to collect information, including about operating systems used in educational organizations. Earlier, Rosobrnadzor reported that Astra Group, BASEALT, Red Soft and NTC DEWS were selected for import substitution of OS in schools.
According to the interlocutor of the publication, until May 2024, software for passing exams worked only on Windows. Sources of Kommersant claim that Rosobrnadzor chose BASEALT to implement a project for import substitution of software for the Unified State Exam. The head of the board of directors of the company, Alexei Smirnov, confirmed to the newspaper that it is participating in testing the exam system. According to him, the volume of the market in money for the sale of OS to Russian schools is "insignificant, since the developers transfer software at a low price."[1]

Artificial intelligence will help reduce the number of write-offs during the exam
Artificial intelligence proved its effectiveness during the Unified State Exam (USE), Elena Alekseicheva, professor at the Moscow City Pedagogical University (MGPU), told Gazeta.Ru on November 8, 2023. The massive use of neural networks to monitor examination classrooms in 2023 revealed approximately 500 violations in 84 regions of the country, which indicates significant progress compared to the first use of the technology in 2020, when only 17 violations were discovered. Russian universities began to add points to the exam for e-sportsmen
More and more Russian universities began to practice the accrual of additional points upon admission to applicants who have achieved success in e-sports. This was announced on September 11, 2023 by the President of the Russian Computer Sports Federation Dmitry Smith.
Many universities began to add points to the exam if a person has sports ranks in e-sports. The main emphasis is on the fact that specialized sites are created, teams appear, coaches appear. Many universities allocate rates specifically for e-sports coaches. And now all this has been scaled, this practice is spreading more and more widely, - he said in a conversation with TASS. |
According to Smith, if earlier student teams trained in ordinary computer classes, now separate audiences with new equipment and areas for spectators are used for this. By mid-September 2023, about 400 universities are cooperating with the Computer Sports Federation.
Smith stressed that the number of participants in various e-sports competitions, including online, in Russia exceeded 800 thousand in 2023. He clarified that one person can be counted for several players if during the year he took part in more than one tournament. If you make an amendment to this, then there will be about half a million unique players.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on September 12, 2023 instructed IT companies and authorities to pay attention to esports and support it. The first e-sports tournament in Russia will take place at the end of 2023.
An annual e-sports tournament will be organized in the Far Eastern Federal District. This direction has already gained great popularity around the world. Moreover, our e-sportsmen are in leading positions. Holding high-level competitions in Russia will serve the promotion of computer sports both in our country and abroad, the Russian leader said.[2] |
Ministry of Digital Development - GIS USE will be transferred to Russian IT solutions in 3 years
The state information system of the Unified State Exam (GIS USE) will be transferred to Russian IT solutions within three years. This was announced on March 31, 2023 by the Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the RFMaksut Shadayev during the final board of the Ministry of Education of Russia.
Rosobrnadzor and I are working to a high degree to restart the creation of the GIS Unified State Exam. I hope that this year we will launch, and within 2-3 years we will modernize the platform and transfer it to Russian technologies, "he said, adding that all the resources necessary for this are already available by the end of March 2023. |
In Russia, there is a Federal Information System for ensuring the conduct of state final certification (FIS GIA) of students and admission of citizens to educational institutions. Also in the country there is a federal database of certificates of the results of the Unified State Exam (FBS), which is included in the subsystem of the FIS GIA and the reception of the "Results of the Unified State Exam."
The Federal Database (FBD) contains information about the participants of the Unified State Exam, their results and the certificates issued. education Also at the federal level, registration of the USE points is kept, a list of specialists participating in the exam process and marking. All test tasks, keys to them and parameters that were used for evaluation are also stored there.
Access to this information is provided through the USE FBD operators. The procedure for access is determined by the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science (Rosobrnadzor), and the list of users includes state authorities of all levels, educational institutions and organizations that are engaged in the USE. The information is protected in accordance with the 152-FZ "On Personal Data." The term of storage of data on participants is at least three years.[3]

USE results became available on Public services
On June 9, 2022, the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation announced the launch of non-portal Public services of service for viewing the results of the Unified State Exam (USE). A graduate who passed the exam needs:
log in under your confirmed account; go to the "Documents" section; Select the Education block. in the "USE Results" field, click "Request." the results will appear in your personal account within a few seconds.
A graduate can view the results of the exam on "Public services" if he has a confirmed account on the portal. It is noted that the results of the exams will remain in the personal account and in the future will help assess the chances of entering universities.
Thanks to our joint work with Rosobrnadzor and the Ministry of Education and Science, every year the procedure for final exams and admission to universities becomes more convenient. Applicants do not need to spend time preparing paper documents, and the results of all tests are available on one resource, - said Russian Deputy Head of the Ministry of Digital Development Oleg Kachanov. |
In 2022, the main period of the exam began on May 26. Up to 14 days pass from the moment of passing the exam until the results are published. The first results will be known no later: June 10 - geography, chemistry and literature; June 17 - Russian; June 20 - Math.
The fact that participants in the Unified State Exam will be able to familiarize themselves with its results using the State Public services portal was reported by Rosobrnadzor on April 15, 2022. Then the department noted that the results of the USE participants from all regions are available on the Public services. As the results were processed in mid-April 2022, data on the early USE period began to be downloaded.
In Russia, there was a scheme of fraud with the sale of answers to the exam
At the end of May 2022, it became known about a new fraudulent scheme related to the sale of answers to the main state exam (OGE) and the unified state exam (USE). Details were told in the group Tinkoff with reference to the platform data Tinkoff protection"."
It is reported that attackers massively create Telegram channels in which they offer students to buy answers to the USE and OGE tests. For greater persuasiveness, they apply "examples" of answers, warm up the audience with calls to put reactions under posts and invite friends. Fraudsters estimate their "services" at 800 rubles. After transferring money, users do not receive any answers, access to the channel is blocked for them.
The fraudulent scheme was identified using a social media verification system for mentioning marker words used by scammers in different scenarios. In Telegram alone, more than 30 channels were found with the alleged sale of answers. At the same time, the total number of subscribers of these channels exceeds 1.5 million.
Even if we assume that only a third of users fall for a trick, the amount of losses is estimated at tens of millions of rubles, experts say. |
According to them, it is difficult to detect and close such channels, since victims rarely complain to the bank and law enforcement officers. Employees of the Tinkoff center sent requests to the messenger administration to block these channels, but even if blocked, fraudsters can create similar channels and use new cards. In addition to bank cards, they use bitcoin wallets.
In 2022, the main stage of the Unified State Exam for 11-graders runs from May 26 to July 2. The exam could be passed ahead of schedule from March 21, reserve days for it were provided for from April 11 to 18. An additional delivery period is set from September 5 to 24.[4]
2021: Inclusion of Microsoft software in the exam IT system
In November 2021, it became known about the beginning of a large-scale update of the IT system of the Unified State Exam (USE). It is assumed that it will not be in it. software Microsoft
Now we are discussing with Rosobrnadzor that we are starting to modernize the large USE system in order to remove dependence on Microsoft, - said the Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Maksut Shadayev. |
According to him, by November 2021, together with the Ministry of Education, the issue of ensuring the multiplatform of electronic textbooks should be discussed, it should be possible to launch them in Linux operating systems. The latter account for more than 50% of school computers, he said.
Schools don't have much money to license Windows. Plus, there are also restrictions on purchases, which are for state and municipal orders. Everything goes towards the fact that the share of computers that use open source software in schools will grow, "the head of the Ministry of Digital Development emphasized. |
Earlier in 2021, it became known about the plans of the Ministry of Digital Development and the Ministry of Education to legally prohibit the use of foreign software in Russian schools. Representatives of departments were going to jointly submit a draft law on this by the end of 2021.
This innovation should help the specialists of the Ministry of Education structure the existing programs used in schools, and choose from them the most suitable products for further application. This measure should also stimulate Russian developers and shift to them the main burden of providing licenses and software solutions for educational institutions, as well as their operational support.
If a new law on import substitution in schools is adopted, Microsoft will lose the most, since the OS and many software packages of this manufacturer are installed on most school PCs by November 2021.[5]

Rosobrnadzor will use a facial recognition system during the exam
Rosobrnadzor will use a facial recognition system during the exam, REGNUM reported in June.
The department reports that the system will be used at several examination points in a number of regions, which have not yet been reported. Using artificial intelligence, violations will be detected during the exam. Including cases when other persons came to take the exam.
In test mode, the system was tested in 2019 at 8 exam points on the basis of one of the subjects of the federation. With the help of the neural network, the program analyzed the video stream from the Unified State Exam. If the so-called freelance situation took place in the audience - one of the students began to talk or got up, the system reported a suspicion of violation of the exam procedure. Notification of this was immediately sent to observers.
In addition, in 2019, neural networks were connected to the analysis of handwriting on the USE forms. Thanks to the technology of artificial intelligence, 17 works were revealed, performed by different handwriting, in 11 cases the handwriting examination confirmed the fact of the discrepancy of handwriting. Another 9 violations of the same type were discovered during the additional USE period.
Rosobrnadzor will use the handwriting recognition system on the exam
At the end of February 2020, Rosobrnadzor announced that it would use the handwriting recognition system during the Unified State Examination. As the interim head of Rosobrnadzor Anzor Muzaev explained at a press conference on the start of the USE and OGE campaigns, the technology was tested in 2019, and in 2020 it is planned to be used already in "normal mode."
We pass the work through the program, it determines the handwriting. About 35 works, the examination confirmed that they were performed by different participants in the exam. The vast majority of substitutions were in the following sequence: someone else came to the composition. And on the exam we saw the work of a real participant, - he said. |
Muzaev added that the work of determining handwriting allowed out of 5 million scans to highlight isolated violations that arose during the exam.
Speaking about the behavioral analysis of the actions of the exam participants using the neural network, Muzaev noted that so far the regulatory framework does not allow introducing this technology in the normal mode in the procedure for conducting the exam, the Russian Information Agency reports to TASS.
As for face recognition on the exam, then, according to the official, it will not be yet. Such a technology is indeed being tested, but it can be used only with the consent of the parents, so it will not work normally yet, he noted.
Muzaev stressed that there are cases when someone else does work for a graduate, and he comes to the exam himself, so in order to prevent this, a neural network is needed.
Verification of all written works of the Unified State Exam using artificial intelligence technologies will begin as usual in 2020. Thanks to the algorithms, bias on the part of teachers will be excluded , and the assessment of student activity will be carried out more objectively.[6]

Rosobrnadzor: neural networks will monitor violations on the exam
At the end of December 2019, it became known that neural networks will be used to identify violators during the Unified State Exam. The Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science (Rosobrnadzor) is introducing machine analysis technology for video broadcasts from classrooms, which will allow real-time detection of suspicious activity during student testing. Artificial intelligence will be connected to the exam to create individual tasks
On June 19, 2019, it became known about the plans of the Russian authorities to use artificial intelligence to create individual tasks when passing state exams (USE and OGE).
As Izvestia writes with reference to the report of the Government of the Russian Federation to the Federal Assembly on education policy, as a result of the transition to a computer form of passing exams, it will be possible to "automatically generate individual versions of control measuring materials."
At the same time, by June 19, 2019, it is not known when it is planned to introduce individual tasks for students.
By June 2019, the exam exams are passed in writing on the form, which should be filled with a black gel pen. The forms are then scanned. The computer checks the test part, and the experts check the part with detailed answers.
Experts interviewed by the newspaper note that a new way to pass exams will be able to solve the problem with write-off, and will also reduce the number of critics of this form of certification. In addition, similar technologies can be used in school olympiads.
First, alas, corruption has penetrated the Olympiad movement, and a computer audit will ensure the impartiality of the assessment. Then there is the problem of selecting tasks of conditionally equal complexity. Artificial intelligence can cope with this better than people, - said Irina Abankina, director of the Institute for the Development of Education at the Higher School of Economics. |
However, in conditions when both the formation of tasks and the generation of reference solutions will be left to artificial intelligence, it will be increasingly difficult for teachers to motivate students to deep knowledge of the subject and defend the value of knowledge in principle, says Timur Sadykov, head of the laboratory of artificial intelligence, neurotechnologies and business analysts of the Russian University of Economics.[7]
