Co-founder of Wildberries Sergey Anufriev spoke about what is happening in the company
Sergei Anufriev, who considers himself the co-founder of the largest Russian marketplace Wildberries, revealed the details of his departure from the company and commented on the current situation in the business. The former commercial director of Wildberries in August 2024 shared his vision of the changes taking place in the company.
According to Forbes, Anufriev left Wildberries in June 2024 after 20 years of work. According to him, the decision to leave was made after a new management team came to the company in early May 2024.
I was told that my work would be done by other people, by another team. I could not and did not want to stay, - explained Anufriev. |
The former top manager expressed concern about the current situation at Wildberries. He noted that after the arrival of a new team from the company, "dozens of people began to quit." Anufriev stressed that many employees are in a state of shock from the changes taking place.
Anufriev paid special attention to the issue of combining Wildberries with the advertising operator Russ. According to him, he learned about the negotiations with Russ after the fact from Vladislav Bakalchuk, the husband of the founder of the company Tatyana Bakalchuk. Anufriev expressed a misunderstanding of the reasons for such a partnership: "I still do not associate Wildberries and Russ."
Commenting on Vladislav Bakalchuk's appeal to the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, Anufriev suggested that this could be due to attempts to put pressure on Bakalchuk. At the same time, the former director noted that he did not see "anything like that" in the appeal itself, given the long-standing acquaintance of Bakalchuk and Kadyrov.
Anufriev also denied the version that the merger with Russ could be related to the consequences of the fire at the Wildberries warehouse in Shushary. According to him, there were no serious problems after the incident, and the company carefully checked the safety of all employees.
Speaking about the future of Wildberries, Anufriev expressed concern about how the company will function without the key employees who stood at the origins of its creation. Despite his departure, Anufriev stressed that he had never been a co-owner of Wildberries, although he considers himself a co-founder. He described the business as "originally family-run," built by the Bakalchuk family.[1]

Mobilization of 3,000 employees during the conflict in Ukraine
On October 21, 2022, it became known about the mobilization of 3 thousand Wildberries employees during the conflict in Ukraine. This is more than in the Bryansk and Kaluga regions combined.
According to the Telegram channel Mash, citing its sources, representatives of the military registration and enlistment office drove up to the warehouses on buses at the height of the working day and simply handed the agendas to the men at the exit. At the same time, the company does not have any options except to cooperate with the military registration and enlistment office. In case of opposition, its work will be suspended by the decision of the prosecutor, this is provided for by law, there are already precedents, the publication says.
According to Mash, at the largest warehouse of the company in Koledino (Podolsky district of the Moscow region), the pickers stopped working shipping documentation (a scanner with a screen and information for inventory and other warehouse processes). In such a situation, it is impossible to work. People were forced to go to understand closer to the main entrance, and there they were already waiting for the military registration and enlistment office.
Mash also claims that many, having learned about what was happening, hid through spare doors and refused to come to work in the following days. The men had no opportunity to find out about the arrival of the military registration and enlistment office employees - entry to the warehouse with the phone was prohibited, and people were sent to the medical examination right from there.
The Telegram channel writes that in connection with the incident, there are now not enough workers in the warehouses. Note that representatives of the marketplace have not yet commented on the situation, and it has not yet been possible to confirm it in other sources.
According to Data Insight partners, from September 21 to September 27, 2022, attendance at the main Russian marketplaces, including Wildberries, was 7-13% lower than a week before the announcement of partial mobilization. For large categorical online stores, traffic decreased by about 20%.[3]
Wildberries warehouse staff strip to their underpants as they arrive at work
In early June 2022, a video appeared on the Internet, which, according to the Telegram channel Baza, captures how, when entering the Wildberries warehouse in Podolsk, employees have to take off almost all their clothes, except for their underwear. This rule applies to both men and women.
All this is necessarily filmed by surveillance cameras. Such tough measures are taken in order to exclude theft among warehouse workers.
The published personnel shows how warehouse employees on the move take off their uniform purple T-shirts used by the Wildberries marketplace, trousers and even shoes and dress again after being searched by a security guard.
As told "Газете.ру," a former employee of the Wildberries warehouse in Podolsk, employees can take with them to the warehouse only a pass, bank card and electronic cigarettes. According to the interlocutor of the publication, despite the inspection procedure, personal belongings disappear from the cabinets of warehouse employees, and the security "does not care."
Checks were, in my opinion, from the very beginning of the warehouse. Before entering the warehouse, you are given a cabinet for 12 hours of operation, after which other employees can open the cabinet. They gave out a closet, come up with your password, after that you undress to your underpants. You wear panties, socks and shoes only of those brands that are not in stock, "said the ex-warehouse worker. |
Many employees are "specifically" fined for lost goods without providing any evidence, he said. Management cancels fines only to "familiar" workers, he said.
Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Industry and Trade Vladimir Gutenev, commenting on the information that Wildberries forces employees to undress to their underwear, called these actions serious psychological violence. [4]
In the suburbs, employees of the Wildberries warehouse stole 20 Nvidia video cards
On March 17, 2022, it became known about the theft of two dozen video cards by employees of the Wildberries warehouse in the Podolsky district of the Moscow region. The amount of damage amounted to about 2 million rubles.
According TASS to MINISTRY OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS Russia Tatyana Petrova, head of the press service of the Main Directorate for the Moscow Region, two employees of the Internet marketplace in the village of Koledino went into the office room of the warehouse during working hours and opened the safe where the game computer video cards were located. Under the guise of picking up an order, the offenders loaded 20 graphic accelerators onto a cart, and then threw the goods out of the window to their accomplice. He loaded them into a car and left the warehouse.
The incident was captured by internal surveillance cameras of the warehouse. In the video published by the Mash Telegram channel, you can see how attackers in purple hoodies entered the closed inner territory of the warehouse with goods. They pretended to collect a large online order. In a few minutes, they took out 20 Nvidia 3070 Ti gaming graphics cards from the closed warehouse. The cost of one such product in Russia exceeds 200 thousand rubles.
According to Tatyana Petrova, a criminal case has been initiated under the article on theft (Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The operatives identified and detained two suspects while trying to sell the goods in one of the purchases located on Revolutionary Avenue, and the third - at his place of residence in Podolsk. According to Mash, Wildberries employees first sold one video card to the electronics pawnshop for 60 thousand rubles. After that, the owner of the store, thinking that they were trying to sell him stolen computer components, turned to the police.
The suspects were released on recognizance not to leave. The stolen goods were confiscated from them.[5]
