On September 27, 2016 the SAP company officially announced merger of Altiscale. The companies did not announce the amount and financial parts of the transaction.

According to the statement, the SAP solution about acquisition of Altiscale was influenced by factors:

• both companies implement complementary approaches to implementation of corporate solutions for work with Big Data (Big Data). SAP aims to create solutions for the analysis Big Data on the basis of deep understanding of requirements of corporate applications, analytics, the platform of data, data storage and a cloud platform. Altiscale is focused on cloud infrastructure and infrastructure of data, offering clients the tool for work with the Big Data Altiscale Data Cloud including the optimized cloud infrastructure, platforms Spark and Hadoop.
• Altiscale completely corresponds to the concept SAP as the attention of both companies is concentrated on helping clients to benefit by information — most effectively to use Big Data. The Altiscale company is in the lead in the market of solutions for management Big Data (Big Data-as-a-Service) on platforms Hadoop and Spark. It will allow SAP to increase value Big Data using technologies, platforms of data PaaS, analytics and an application stack.
