Contextor — the French company founded in 2000 which is engaged in software development using robotic process automation (RPA) for creation of intellectual bots. By November, 2018 clients of Contextor created more than 100 thousand bots automating business processes. The company carried out only one round of financing within which it attracted $680 thousand.

2018: SAP purchased Contextor
On November 19, 2018 SAP announced purchase of Contextor company and by that enters the market of robotic process automation (RPA). The cost of the transaction was decided not to be disclosed.
According to the SiliconANGLE edition, Contextor purchase first of all it is caused by acceleration of development of the SAP Leonardo platform which is used by the enterprises for creation of the automated applications on the basis of machine learning.
The RPA functionality will be integrated with SAP Cloud Platform, technologies of colloquial artificial intelligence and also the opportunities for document handling put in SAP Leonardo Machine Learning to provide to clients access to intellectual RPA technology.
Integration of Contextor RPA technology into the SAP S/4HANA platform is planned for the first half of 2019. Further the same is planned in the relation of other SAP products. In the press release it is reported that thanks to robotic process automation of Contextor the German company a current of three years is going to automate a half of the processes managed by SAP ERP.
