2021: GM created division for release of electric vehicles suppliers

In the middle of January, 2021 General Motors started new division and the BrightDrop brand which will be engaged in creation of a full-fledged electric ecosystem of cars and delivery systems of goods. The company already selected about $800 million for conversion of the assembly plant CAMI to Ontario (Canada) in the plant on production of electric vehicles.

Earlier the plant made Chevrolet Equinox, but by the end of 2021 will begin production of the electric GM BrightDrop vans, and is going to carry out complete transition to electric vehicles within two years.

Within new division of GM provided the special commercial EV600 van. EV600 will use the new accumulator Ultium system and is expected a run up to 400 km at a full charge. The cargo space of the van makes more than 17 m3, and lump together with a load — 4.5 tons. At the same time GM equipped the first electrovan with front lines for this segment safety features: the system of the help at the parking, automatic emergency brake application, including before the pedestrian, warning of head-on collision and the system of deduction on a lane with warning of departure from a band.

Besides, the system of the electrovan helps the driver, and additional functions include the help when steering in a blind zone, automatic braking at a backing, HD Surround Vision and warning of pedestrians behind. The security system of cargo space includes motion sensors, and for convenience of the driver the van is supplied with movable doors, broad passes in a cabin and automatically opening partition. The EV600 electrovan will be followed also by other models.

Thus, CAMI will become the Canada's first large-scale plant on production of electric vehicles. It is known that FedEx will be the first buyer of EV600.[1]
