Performance indicators

2022: Net loss - RUB 119.3 million; revenue - 674.6 million rubles (-24%)

The Russian division of the Japanese manufacturer electronic engineers Fujitsu in 2022 suffered net losses of 119.3 million. rubles For comparison: a year earlier, the company received 62.8 million rubles of net profit. Such indicators were announced on March 22, 2023.

According to CNews, the revenue of Fujitsu Technologies Solutions LLC in 2022 decreased by about a quarter - by 24%, amounting to 674.6 million rubles. The deterioration in indicators is primarily due to the fact that the company at the beginning of 2022 suspended its activities in the Russian market due to the current geopolitical situation. Prior to this, Fujitsu hardware and software warranty services were provided to customers in the Russian Federation.

The deterioration of indicators is due to the suspension of activities in the Russian market

It is noted that the company was able to complete 2022 without large-scale litigation with clients and partners in the Russian market. CNews points to only one notable case that has reached the court. A lawsuit was filed against Fujits Technologies Solutions and its partner in the person of Galard for 12 million rubles from Loko-Bank related to a guarantee for the Fujitsu PQ2800E3 server (intended for critical applications). The Moscow Arbitration Court rejected these claims, and the higher appellate instance further confirmed the legality of such a decision.

In early 2023 Russia , another lawsuit was filed against Fujitsu by the distributor. OCS The initiators of the proceedings ask the court to recover from the defendants "unjust enrichment in the amount of 5.22 million rubles, interest in the amount of 245.94 thousand rubles, interest for the period from February 18, 2023 to the date of actual fulfillment of the obligation." What exactly the OCS claims are related to is not specified. The Russian representative office of Fujitsu does not comment on the situation in any way.[1]

2023: Russian unit liquidation begins

Japanese electronics developer and infrastructure solutions supplier Fujitsu has launched the liquidation of the Russian legal entity Fujitsu Technologies Solutions LLC. The date of liquidation is set for August 15, 2024, follows from the data of the Rusprofile service provided on October 16, 2023.

Earlier, RBC announced this and sent a request to Fujitsu. According to the newspaper, Fujitsu suspended direct supplies of its products and services after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine, but has not yet announced its complete withdrawal from the Russian market.

2014: 1,600 partners, 100 employees

As of mid-2014, the staff of the Fujitsu office in Russia and the CIS is about 100 people. A significant number of specialists are also involved from the outside, said Vitaly Fridlyand, CEO of Fujitsu in Russia, to TAdviser.

Fujitsu has more than 1,600 local partners, including 57 Select Partner Certified Partners and 13 Select Expert Certified Partners.

Among the plans for the development of the company's business in Russia, Vitaly Fridland names new interaction with international partners, including SAP, Microsoft, Intel, NetApp, Symantec, etc., as well as expansion into new subject areas: integration service, development of applications for platform solutions.

Within the framework of the latter, it is planned, together with system integrators and software developers, to create content applications for Fujitsu platforms and jointly promote and sell them to customers as integrated solutions.

The plans also include regional expansion. Regional representatives of Fujitsu are present in St. Petersburg, Rostov, Samara, Kazan and a number of CIS republics. According to Vitaly Fridland, the company plans to develop business in the segment of "resurgent industry in the regions": for example, in mechanical engineering, the oil and gas segment, the power and housing services sector, trade.

2013: Results of work in Russia and plans

Vitaly Fridland, Vice President, CEO of Fujitsu in Russia and the CIS, told TAdviser in September 2014 how the company's local business is developing. According to him, in the 2013 fiscal year, which ended for the company on March 31, 2014, Fujitsu showed good sales growth in Russia in the direction of x86 servers - about 25-30%. DSS sales over the same period grew by about 8%, and the direction of laptops, on the contrary, showed a decline in the level of the overall market fall by about 45%.

Vitaly Fridlyand notes a significant increase in double-digit indicators in the direction of services. Integration service, managed service and support services have become an essential part of Fujitsu's business in Russia. Services, in particular, account for about 12-15% of the turnover. The share of infrastructure solutions has also increased recently, and now they account for about 60-70% of revenue, and the rest - for laptops and desktops. In the industry context, the bulk of Fujitsu's solutions are supplied by the public sector, the oil and gas sector, the banking/financial sector and telecom.

The company approaches the forecast for business growth for the current fiscal year with caution, explaining that from the moment the annual budget was planned, the political and economic situation in Russia has changed a lot.

Vice President, General Director of Fujitsu in Russia and the CIS Vitaly Fridland

"The expectations that were at the time of planning and the expectation in reality of accelerating inflation, the emergence of conservatism among customers regarding infrastructure solutions are the trend of all companies and the expectations of all IT companies," says Vitaly Fridland. - It's good if we continue to grow in the direction of servers, which is happening now, but not as intense as a year earlier. According to my expectations, the direction of DSS also grow, and a decline can be expected again for laptops. In terms of services, you can expect indicators similar to last year. "

Among the most significant projects for 2013 in Russia, Fujitsu cites the creation of a supercomputer for the data center of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University, as well as the creation of a server room for the Russian division of Saargummi, one of the world's largest manufacturers of sealing systems for cars and trucks.

2012: Fujitsu announces record investment in Russia

Japanese Fujitsu adopted a large-scale investment program to develop its business in Russia in 2012-2015, told CNews[2] by Fujitsu CEO in Russia and the CIS Fridland Vitaly. The amount of planned investments from the global office is not disclosed in the company, but they note that it will grow "several times" compared to what was invested in development in Russia earlier.

According to Vitaly Fridland, before that, the Russian division of Fujitsu developed mainly at the expense of its own resources. The decision on additional funding was made by global management in connection with the significant growth of local business in recent years, he says. According to the company, its revenue in Russia in 2011 increased by 50%. Fujitsu did not disclose revenue indicators in monetary terms.

Fujitsu sales in Russia are growing amid a global decline in its revenue. According to the company's financial report, in 2011 its revenue amounted to about $54 billion, having decreased by 1.3% compared to 2010. Net profit decreased by 22.5%. Not the best situation was observed in the 1 quarter of 2012: sales fell by 2.9% compared to the same period in 2011.

"Fujitsu's Russian business is perhaps now the fastest growing for the company," notes Vitaly Fridland, adding that a similar investment program until 2015 was also adopted for India.

Investments attracted to Russia are planned to be directed to marketing activity and sales development, as well as to the expansion of the staff necessary for this. According to the head of the Russian representative office of Fujitsu, only in 2013 the company plans to increase its staff in Russia by 75% at the expense of sales and marketing specialists, as well as technical specialists.

To develop sales, Fujitsu plans to create several competence centers in Russia with demo equipment, where customers can test their projects and receive the necessary consultations, as well as a television sales center that will remotely deal with sales - look for new customers, work out new projects with existing customers, etc. The latter is scheduled to open in January 2013. According to Friedland, the company has no more than 10 such centers around the world.

According to the company, approximately 50% of its revenue in Russia comes from the supply of computer equipment intended for the end user - PC, laptops, servers, DSS. The remaining 50% of revenue comes from data center and HPC equipment, as well as various services: for example, leasing IT infrastructure, including from the cloud, maintaining IT infrastructure, etc. The company provides services both itself and through partners.

About 80% of Fujitsu sales in Russia are in the corporate sector, Fridland says. Approximately 20% of sales are brought by the public sector. The company is not represented in retail.
